• ...mostly– Collection of likeminded people– A Listserv (2003)– A Yearly Gathering (2005)– A Journal (2007)– Local Chapters (various)

How is it run?• Volunteer-driven collective• “Join” by joining the listserv• Run in true democratic form– No hierarchical structure (no officers, etc)– Volunteering/Stepping up to lead– Direct, open voting– Discussion and agreement on the listsev

Catalogers, Artists, Instigators• Where: Everywhere• What: Largely work for and with libraries,
archives and museums, on technology "stuff.“• Why: Overarching community, agnostic
towards any particular language or technology

And code4lib Mid-Atlantic?• The Philadelphia Area/Tri-State chapter• Founded in October 2012• Meeting once a month-ish– Formal meet-up– Social meet-up– Lightly structured, then social meet-up
• In Philly for two months, suburbs one month

What can we do for PACSCL?• An open forum where technology “stuff”
(from the practical to the fanciful) can be discussed.
• A place where great and glorious project plans can be shared, scrutinized and advised.
• A place where questions both large and small can be answered.
