David Silipigno, who is the owner of a thriving business firm in Saratoga Springs, was recently in news for suing the city for his residence in Saratoga. He raised objections against the city for indicting him double the real evaluation for his home situated at 36-Stony Brook Drive. David had to go through a lot of disregard and criticism for this step. This was mainly because the city never wanted him to raise his voice in the presence of judge as it was conscious of its results.

It was during 2008 when David Silipigno defied the assessment of city, asserting that he was actually charged double of real assessment. In order to settle this property tax case, the City Council conducted a voting session on July 20 and authorized Mayor Scott Johnson to solve the case. He evaluated David's home for less than actual assessment at the value of $9.3 million, of which approximately $7.6 is payable.

Later on, the city consented to much less than half of real evaluation. As per reports, the City will have to pay David the amount of $180, 000 for over-payments in the years 2009-10. Furthermore, David Silipigno will not have to pay for last 2 quarters of the current year.

When asked about the property-tax case in an interview, David Silipigno said that the commissioner had no intent of resolving the case until he was forced to do so. According to him, the commissioner was emphasizing on the paper work which as per David Silipigno was nothing, but poor face-saving attempt. To support this, he further said that his property tax case clearly demonstrates that the city is making thoughtless attacks on the homeowners. Adding to this, he suggested that voters need to show their discontentment in public and point a finger at these inflated evaluations made by the City.
