    Double reduction gearbox

    Pressure lubrication on gearbox

    Merritt MX Series

This versatile extruder is engineered for high throughput rates and lower mel t temperatures for a

    range of applications.

    EXTRUSION LINE COMPONENTS

Extrusion lines can be built with a wide range o f extruders, payoffs and tension brakes, take-ups

and auxiliary equipment including cooling troughs, capstans and accumulator systems. Laboratory

equipment, customized feedscrews, and control systems are also available.

    C O MPLETE EXTR U SIO N SYSTEMS

We supply complete wire and cable extrusion systems for commun ication, construction/building ,

telephone, and automotive wire, high temperature wire, plug, optical fiber and s pecialty wire.

Capabilities include communication cable systems, automotive cable systems, power cable

systems, construction cable s ystems , fiber optic systems and coaxial cable systems. All wire and

cable extrusion s ystems are available with Clipper take-ups, payoffs and spoolers, customized

feedscrews and patented micro-processor based control systems.

    WIRE HANDLING EQUIPMENT

We offer high performance wire handling equipment including capstans, payoffs and take-ups, and

    linear caterpillars.

    Capstans

Belt wrap capstans are available from 6 to 84 inches (150 to 2,133mm) in diameter, dual wheel

multi-pass configurations from 12 to 32 inches (300 to 813mm) in diameter, with lengths to 40 feet

(12 meters) in dry and wet arrangements. Linear caps tans (caterpillar) from 14 to 80 inches.

    Payoffs and Take-Ups

Davis-Standard, LLC offers a com plete range of payoff and take-up systems designed to handle

products as small as 40 awg soft copper and as large as jacketed cable to 6 inches in diameter.

The payoff product offering includes flyer type, sing le and dual, in s izes from 24-inch to 50 -inch with

accompanying lift trucks and tension brake assemblies.

Single reel payoffs, both motorized and drag type, and s ingle reel take-ups in various configurations

including rol l-thru, retracting arm sha ftless and shaft type, with ranges from 12-inch to 120-inchflange diam eters with weight capacities to 40,000 pounds . For precise control, a complete line of

    oscillating des igns is available.

Dual reel fully automatic take-ups range in size from 6 to 50 inch and include both shaft types for

speeds to 5,000 fpm and s haftless des igns running at speeds to 9,500 fpm.

Single reel, dual reel, flyer, and portal pay-offs and take-ups for a wide range of app lications.

Options are available for portal, cantilevered arm, and floor traversing.

    Specialty Equipment

Equipment is available for fiber optic cable lines , CATV cable lines , high temperature wire lines , and

    silicone rubber lines.

    Auxiliary Equipment

Auxilia ry equipment includ ing coo ling troughs , capstans, semi-automatic and ful ly-automaticspoolers, caterpillars, wire pre-heaters, and curing systems can be supplied based on application.

    C O N TIN UO U S VU LC A N IZA TIO N (C V) SYSTEMS

    Radiant Heat Gas Cure System

This s ystem provides a fast and econom ical dry cure for thermoset ins ulations, particularly XLPE. By

utilizing nitrogen as the curing media, the presence of moisture is el imina ted during the critical

curing process . A patented by-product removal system that removes contaminates and increases

the efficiency of the radiant curing s ystem by circulating the nitrogen continuously is optionally

    available.

Cure system componen ts are manufactured to quality specifications for press ure

    vessels and fabricated stainless steel.

Complete s ystem includes an in-tube, no-contact sag control, variable water level and

pump controls, primary seal and lead wire seals.

The heated tube is divided into separately controlled heat zones, which a re

independently adjus table to 842F (450C).

Heating elements are calrods uniquely designed for extended life.

Each zone is equipped with blowers to circulate air through the chamber around the

calrods for fast cooling during shutdown.

System can be utilized as a gas /water system for low and m edium voltage, gas/gas

system for high and extra-high voltage, and as a steam/super-steam s ystem for rubber

    products.

Can be retrofitted to an existing continuous vulcanization line .

    Steam Cure System

These systems are best suited for minimum investment cost, and for extrusion compounds not

formulated for high temperature curing. A variety of configurations o f steam C V processing are

available. Steam bo ilers provide fast pressure ris e in the cure tube at start-up.

Steam cure s ystems provide broad flexibility in operation.

Water level controls permit accurate control of steam-to-water ratios for optim um cure

conditions on every cable cons truction.

This equipm ent processes rubber, XLPE, and regular thermoplas tic polyethylene

without changing a major piece of equipment.

Power cables from utility through transmis sion voltage may be produced over a very

    broad speed range.
