Background• In 1964 Nike was found as Blue Ribbon Sports • In 1971 Nike officially became its own brand• Nike was created by Bill Bowerman• The name Nike comes from a Greek goddess, which
means “Victory”.• Nike’s first shoe was created with a waffle iron• The actual swoosh that is now known as Nike emblem,
was created but a Portland State University student by the name of Carolyn Davidson
• The first athlete that signed with Nike was tennis player by the name of Ilie Nastase
