Elida FFA in the News
The Big R Store of Lima presented
members of the Elida FFA (Future Farmers of

group’s trip to the Ohio FFA State Conven-
tion on May 4th.

Reading Rewards for First Grade Students
Students in Elida Elementary love to read!
Each month there is a new and different reading theme: “Sing” “March Madness ” and this
month the theme is "Hit a Home Run in Reading!"
The students earn Reading Rewards each week, and a BIG reward last month was having high
school students come to read with them and talk about being successful high school students.
They were excited for the “older” students to come and read with them! Thank you to the first
grade teachers for this great program and to the high school students for participating, too!

Carson Hurst, a senior in Construction
Tech Design-Build II, decided to build
this bead-front book case for his
senior project. This bookcase includes
two working drawers at the bottom
and an adjustable shelf to accommo-
date his things. Carson stained his
project with an early American stain,
and applied three coats of lacquer
finish.
Drew Sarno, a senior in Construction Tech
Design-Build II, identified a need for
organized storage of his golfing gear at
home. He researched and found these two
golf lockers, one for him, one for his dad- to
store his clubs, bag, shoes, etc. He decided
to build them out of red oak, stained them
with a dark walnut stain and applied three
coats of lacquer finish.
Student Wood-Working Projects
Students in the Construction Tech Design-Build class are finishing the projects that
they’ve worked on this year and their hard work and talent is obvious! Thanks to
Mr. Matt Amstutz with the Industrial Technology Program at Apollo for his instruc-
tion with the students! We will feature more student projects in future issues of
Dawg Bytes.
