Dear children,
Summer is a great time to have fun. It is the perfect time for you to discover that learning is
enjoyable and can happen anywhere.
The much awaited summer vacation is here, make this time a learning experience. There are
great temptations for you to spend hours watching television or playing video games, but with
a little planning, the summer can be transformed into a time to stretch the mind, explore new
hobbies, learn about responsibilities and build on skills learned during the school year. It is an
escape from all the hard work and complications of normal school life. It allows us to spend
some time relaxing and enjoying the social aspects of life. However, you must continue learning
even when you are having fun. Learning can take place whether you are taking a trip to a far-off
place or spending time in your own neighborhood, going out with friends to the beach, or
having a fun filled party,
To inculcate originality, creativity and interest and keep you engaged in the scorching heat of
summer, we bring you a series of constructive and enjoyable activities. It will surely enhance
your learning process.

A) We all love travelling and of course summer break is the best time to explore about the place, you
would like to visit in future. Find the details to prepare a colourful and informative brochure of that
place. Make it an attractive tourist guide.
B) Reading is fun. Story books are the best companions during holidays. A few books are suggested here
for you to read. Try to read all and make a book cover of any one of the books according to your
understanding and reading. (the original book cover will not be accepted.)

Project Title Waste management
Project sketch 1. Find out the fate of garbage collected from your house. Think on these lines:

Landfill and write the information in 200 words ,also click pictures and paste them in a scrap file. 2. Prepare a poster on “Techniques of proper waste disposal.”. 3. Conduct an interview with the garbage collector of your locality and prepare a questionnaire of relevant questions asked and answers received (atleast 5 questions). (Segregation of waste, disposal of waste).
Learning Outcome The students will acquire the knowledge about waste management techniques, role and importance of various people involved.
PROJECT II
Project Title Types of waste: Biodegradable and non biodegradable
Project sketch 1.Make a list of articles you see around you .Segregate them as biodegradable and non biodegradable waste(at least 10 each) 2. Prepare any one article using only the waste present in your house (based on some scientific idea). 3.Prepare a report on the “ Problem of garbage disposal” Paste pictures relevant to the topic. Also paste newspaper articles to enhance your report with proper evidence.
Learning Outcome The students will become aware about different types of waste and problems associated with waste disposal.
PROJECT III
Project Title Discovering the use of non biodegradable waste.
Project sketch 1. Write the ways to minimize the use of plastics and polythene bags. Collect articles from newspapers or magazines related with pollution caused by plastics and paste them in a scrap file. 2. Make two paper bags and one jute bag. 3. Visit your nearby areas for creating awareness about the use of plastics and polythene bags .Click pictures of the people whom you interacted with for creating awareness .Also prepare a report on your visit and your experience while interacting with different people.
Learning Outcome The students will learn some ways to minimize the non biodegradable waste and spread awareness about the harmful effects of the same.

1. Revise the following topic thoroughly .Test will be taken when the new session (2015-2016) will be
resume. a) Volume and Surface Area (Book 1). b) Expansion and Factorisation of Algebraic Expressions. c) Angle properties of polygon. d) Percentage.

Task 1: Observe day length.
Day length is variable with seasons. This also affects our religious custom of fasting as we observe our
fast in accordance with the day length. So, let’s observe the length of your fast
and the fasting time of other cities as well.
You will observe there will be;
A difference in your fasting period on daily basis
A difference in Karachi fasting period and other cities around the world.
Make your observations as a smart geographer!

Task 3: Know how much we waste?
During this summer know the amount of waste generated per day by your family. You can simply
observe the consumption of different products and record your observation in
a table as the amount consumed, this will help assess the waste generated.
Plan an eco-friendly waste dumping, segregate
kitchen waste, paper waste and plastic waste. Give
the paper and plastic waste to the recyclers and
make a compost of your kitchen waste or feed the
peelings of fruits and vegetables to goats or any
herbivore animal.

Task 3: Become Explorer!
This summer go for a visit with your family to any park or
beach. Grab your smart phone and use it to capture the
beautiful nature around you, take selfies and group
photograph with family.
Observe plant species, and animals, and collect 5 different
kind of leaves and seeds of different plant species. Try to find
the impact of tourist activities on that place. If you find any
environmental damage take the photographs of the
happenings.
After the visit now it’s a time to make a picture story/
photographic journey of your visit to share your experience
and observation with your classmate and teachers. (Word limit 1000-1500)

Note:
Compile the entire task in a presentable, colorful and neat scrap book. Add
pictures, your experience while collecting information, write also about
which task fascinated you most. You can also paste photographs of your
visit with your family with date and places, or on eid day take a family
photograph and paste it.

services and repayment of debts within a market.
Take the pictures of Pakistani currency notes, from 10-5000. Paste them in a scrap book. The currency
