PROGRESS REPORT 2010-2012 Day Laborers Improve Their Working Conditions Day Laborers in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn have built an important community institution in that it: Provides a safe and healthy space for workers to wait for work, protecting them from the elements and harassment Mandates a minimum wage set by the day laborers themselves. Currently it is $10/hour Increases transparency in the hiring process and provides accountability to employers. Only one case of wage theft was identify this year. The community job center brings day laborers together to build collective power to push for systematic change while creating an alternative unionize system that ensure fair wages, workplace safety, and better opportunities to improve their quality of life and of our community. Building A Community That Works For All Day Laborer Assembly: Each month, between 15-35 day laborers meet to discuss relevant issues involving the Day Labor Center, immigration policy, and programmatic changes. The Power Of a Successful Grassroots Marketing 15 Day Laborers were trained in grassroots marketing to educates the public about the day labor movement, and the positive community impact of this model
