Octavio Paz writes the Mexican has no problems with death that he "... chases after it, mocks it, courts

it, hugs it, sleeps with it, it is his favorite plaything and his most lasting love." In your opinion, how is

this idea similar to or different from our "United States" view on death?

I think this is very different then the American view on death. The American view of death is frightening

or depressing , while Octavio Paz’s view of death is happy.

When is All Saints Day and All Souls Day celebrated?

__All Saints Day es en el primero de noviembre. All Souls Day es en el segundo de noviembre.

Even though each region in Mexico celebrates Day of the Dead differently, what are things that they

do have in common.

Family members gather together in cemeteries for gravesite reunions. They bring bottles of tequila

picnic baskets and even mariachi bands.

How do Aztecs view death?

__For the Aztecs, it was considered a blessing to die in childbirth, battle or human sacrifice, for these

assured the victim a desirable destination in the afterlife.

In Mixquic, what takes place to celebrate Day of the Dead?

At 2pm November first they gather in cometaries to mourn for past loved ones. When it is dark out they

illuminate the cemetery with candles. Then when midnight comes they invite the dead back with the

tolling of bells.

tamales, because those are made for special occasions -- particularly mole because it takes so many

ingredients.

_Pan de muerto is sprinkled with sugar , with little knobs and strips of dough on top that represent

bones and skulls. They are sweet and egg rich.

In your own words, describe the cemeteries in Mexico? What do you like or dislike about the cemetery

decorations?

Extraordinary huge arches of flowers will have pictures of the deceased set into them, and the whole

gravesite repainted, and several hundred candles might be set up, and food set up.

I would eat either one of these recipes. I really like tamales and my favorite food is seafood. The Pan de

muerto also sounds very good.
