ITINERARYOctober 5 – Depart Omaha / Overnight flight en routeMeet us today at one of our many convenient pick-up points as we make our way to Omaha’s Eppley Airfield and connect to our overnight flight to Dublin, Ireland.

October 6 – Dublin / Guinness BreweryGood morning and welcome to Dublin! Upon arrival at Dublin Airport, we’ll meet our local guide, driver and awaiting motor coach. This morning we enjoy a city tour of Dublin, founded as a Viking settlement and has been home to the Irish Parliament since the creation of the Irish Free State in 1922. On our tour, we’ll see the Georgian Squares and their 18th Century houses, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Phoenix Park, statue-filled O’Connell Street, the fashionable Grafton Street and Trinity College, which houses the Book of Kells. No visit to Dublin would be complete without a visit to the Guinness Brewery founded in 1759 by Arthur Guinness. Here, we’ll enjoy a guided tour which concludes with a leisurely pint of Guinness in their 360-degree rooftop bar with spectacular views of Dublin. From here, we continue to our evening accommodations where we enjoy a welcome dinner with our fellow travelers. (D)

October 7 – National Stud Farm / House of Waterford CrystalThis morning we bid a farewell to Dublin and travel south to County Kildare – the center of Ireland’s horse breeding industry – where we’ll enjoy a guided tour of the Irish National Stud Farm. Since it bred its first winner in 1909, the stud farm has continued to produce many famous race horses. Also on the grounds of the Stud Farm are the Japanese Gardens renowned for their symbolism and the recently opened St. Fiacre commemorative garden. From here we continue through the rich farmlands of Tipperary to Cashel, where you’ll see the amazing Rock of Cashel. This was the seat of the Kings of Munster from 370 – 1101 and a famous ecclesiastical center. Upon arrival in Waterford, we visit the House of Waterford Crystal and see the highly skilled local craftsmen demonstrate crystal blowing and cutting in their new state-of-the-art visitor center. Following our visit, we check in to our hotel and enjoy an evening meal together. (B, D)

October 8 – Blarney Castle & Stone / KinsaleThis morning we depart Waterford and travel along the southern coastline to Cobh, one of the main points of emigration during the great famine. Here we visit “The Queenstown Story” which portrays the hardship of life on-board the ships as they sailed to the “New World.” Annie Moore, the first ever emigrant to be processed on Ellis Island when it officially opened on January 1, 1892, left from Cobh with her two brothers. Cobh was also the last port of call of the Titanic. Our next stop is Blarney, where we’ll have the opportunity to visit Blarney Castle and kiss the famous Blarney Stone! The Stone is said to bestow the gift of eloquence on all those who dare. From here, it’s on to Kinsale, a historic fishing town on the southern coastline of County Cork. It’s renowned for its cobblestone streets, interesting shops and pubs, along with its restaurants, and is known as the gourmet capital of Ireland. This evening we enjoy dinner together at our hotels Pier One Restaurant, overlooking the Kinsale Harbour. (B, D)

October 9 – Mizen Head / KenmareWe depart Kinsale along the southern coastline towards Mizen Head – Ireland’s southernmost point. Here we visit the award winning Maritime Museum and Heritage Attraction. You can take a ten-minute walk along the path, down 99 steps and across the Arched Bridge over the crashing waves to the Lighthouse. We then travel up the coast through lovely, lazy towns & villages to Kenmare, an example of one of Ireland’s few planned towns. Kenmare and its Gaelic name “Neidin” or “Little Nest” is named because of its fine setting nestled among the mountains of Cork and Kerry. Continue to Killarney, taking in the 20-mile stretch of the famous Ring of Kerry. Upon arrival, we check-in to our centrally located hotel for our two-night stay. (B)

October 10 – The Dingle PeninsulaToday we enjoy the unspoiled beauty of the Dingle Peninsula, once cited as the most beautiful place on earth by National Geographic. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Atlantic coastline as we continue around Slea Head as well as beehive huts dating back over a thousand years. Our tour takes us to the most westerly point of Ireland where we can view the Blasket Islands. We also see the locations of such films as Ryan’s Daughter and the more recently filmed Far and Away which starred Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. We will have some free time in the town of Dingle before returning to Killarney. This evening, we travel to Kate Kearney’s Cottage to enjoy a traditional Irish dinner in a cozy, informal atmosphere followed by the best of traditional Irish music, song and dance! (B, D)
