Known as the ‘Gateway to Wales,’ Abergavenny’s Tuesday Market is well known as one of the major markets in Wales with over 200 traditional indoor and outdoor stalls.

We make an early start for our journey to the attractive market town of Skipton. Just outside the Yorkshire Dales National Park boundary, Skipton prides itself on being ‘The Gateway to the Dales’. The broad tree-lined High Street leads up to the church, behind which you see the impressive facade of the 900 year-old castle and Skipton Woods. Wander down the many alleyways or ‘ginnels’ to savour the town’s history and character. Explore the side streets where you will find individual shops, cafés and restaurants or visit the canal area with boat trips, marina, footpaths and picnic areas.

The illuminations are the sort of spectacle that everyone should see at least once; they enthral millions of visitors every year. The greatest light show on earth has been a major part of Blackpool’s attraction since 1879 when they were described as “Artificial Sunshine”. Today there are six miles of shimmering light, with the traditional lamp sharing the limelight with fibre optics, lasers and LED technology.

We aim to arrive in Blackpool around lunch time, you can spend a little time shopping or on the beach first, then re-join the coach at around 5pm for a drive through the famous Illuminations before returning home.
