CHILDREN’S SUMMER LIBRARY PROGRAM ON YOUR MARK, GET SET, READ is geared for children going into grades K-5. Pick up a JUST FOR KIDS

calendar for younger children or a TEEN flyer for grades 6-12. You can also access our website volusialibrary.org for listings of all programs. All children’s programs are free and are held

in the Children’s Auditorium. Most programs last about 1 hour. Ask us about summer reading logs and ways elementary students can earn fun & cool prizes!!!

June 13th Ready, Set, Drum!—Listen to the beat of the drums or test out your drumming skills with Tampa Taiko & their Big Loud Drums. June 20th Ready, Set, Abracadabra See impossible magic tricks, weird mind reading stunts, and off the wall comedy with Big Idea Balloons. June 29th Ready, Set, Dance!—Be entertained by Linda Stites and her dancing dogs. They’ll dance their way into your heart.

July 11th Ready, Set, Perform!—Hurry! Hurry! The Orlando Youth Circus is in town. Learn how to balance a plate, flip a flower stick, or spin a Chinese yo-yo with this Hands –On Circus. July 18th Ready, Set, Launch!—Make crazy paper airplanes with Dr. Leo F. Murphy of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU). July 25th Ready, Set, Laugh—Food, fitness, & fun with Healthy Herb.

by building different creations OR show

your skills with games like tennis,

bowling, baseball, Just Dance, & more.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Join an exciting program for children ages 0 to 5 years. Read any

book to your child. Track your reading and receive stickers & small

rewards along the way. The goal is to read 1,000 books before your

precious one starts kindergarten. Reading and listening have been proven to increase vocabulary

and promote pre-reading skills. To register your child, stop by the Children’s Desk.

This program is year round and does not end, until your child has entered kindergarten.

Elementary Reading Program This program is for children going into grades K-5. Kids should read at least 20 minutes a day

with books on their reading level. Younger kids can have someone read to them. By joining this

program kids can earn weekly prizes or books, and possibly be entered into a drawing

for bigger prizes. Pick up a reading log to start. Reading logs should be turned in regularly,

but the last & final day is August 13th. This program goes from June 13th-August 13th.
