Structure: DB involves 9 spreadsheets (tables) with the information related to profile data of soil properties for more, than 2000 profiles

Sources: the results of original field soil research and laboratory analyses of soil samples from scientific reports and publications (both archival, and modern data)

In 55 fields the basic data on a climate, a relief and a soil cover in every map unit of Nature-agriculture zoning (NAZ) of Ukraine are included.

The table contains data almost about all basic criteria used as well in SOTER methodology

Maps NAZ and SOTER are similar, as both are based on natural features of the land of Ukraine concerning climate, parent material, relief, vegetation and soil cover

There is accumulated in 112 fields of the table the information on parameters of soil properties inside of each genetic horizon and each layer of sampling or measurement in-situ. In the top genetic horizon, as a rule, measurements are executed in 2-3 layers (depths).

Table 5 contains data on such soil properties and characteristics:

- Index of soil horizon, upper and lower boundaries of soil horizon and sampling layer;- General physical properties (soil bulk density; specific density; total porosity);- Water-physical properties (field water capacity, permanent wilting point, available water, soil permeability); - Particle size distribution (PSD) – by Kachinsky method;- Size distribution of micro aggregates;- Structure composition (percent of macro aggregates different size); - Aggregate stability in water (percent of water stable aggregates);- Physical-chemical properties (рН, exchange acidity, exchangeable cations, organic carbon, humus);- Toxicological characteristics (the content of heavy metals mobile forms).

Today it is multifunctional DB with relational database management system.

The processed data use for own scientific researches, including,for creation of pedotransfer functions, target mapping, an estimation of soil quality and a pedodiversity, as well as in the international scientific projects (SOVEUR, EUHYDI).

The data sets are used for creation of the maps, concerning soil propertiesand their relations with efficiency of soil tillage in an agriculture,with an estimation of arable lands quality for planning their use and for otherscientific and practical purposes.

Contains not so many soil profiles (only 2020)Some profiles are not completely provided by data

WAYS FOR DECISION - active addition of materials

1. Extraction of the necessary information from databases of other state organizations which partially supervise a soil cover:

on agrochemical control;on hydraulic engineering and water land improvement;on wood land improvement and others;

2. Use of results recent field expeditions of different divisionsof own Institute and other scientific centers in Ukraine
