Festival HoursThe festival hours are:Friday, August 24th, 3 pm - 11 pmSaturday, August 25th, 11 am - 11 pmSunday, August 26th, 11 am - 6 pm

ParkingThe city of DeKalb will be charging a one time fee of $5.00 per vehicle for a weekend parking pass which will be valid for Saturday and Sunday of the festival. Please post your pass in the driver side windshield if you are leaving and returning to the festival for faster entry. Parking will be free on Friday. There are two festival parking entrances for cars. One at the corner of Peace and Pleasant and one at County Farm Rd.

PICK UP/DROP OFF AREA If you are just wishing to drop off or pick up someone from the fest and not park, please use the County Farm Rd. entrance. There will be a designated area for this, just a short walk from the festival entrance.

HANDICAPPED & MOTORCYCLE PARKINGAll handicapped and motorcycle parking is located on Pleasant St. in a designated parking lot. There will be a assigned person at the barricade on Pleasant St. to show you where to park. This parking area is on asphalt and right outside the festival entrance for easy access for both wheelchairs and motorcycles. This parking is FREE. Sponsored by DeKalb Harley Davidson.

Shuttle Bus Route Details:Bus to begin at west side (bus turnaround) of Holmes Student Center, stop at corner of 2nd and Lincoln (Eduardo’s), left onto 7th and then a right onto Pleasant. Passenger stop at 11th and Pleasant (stop sign); continuing out to fest and stopping at the shuttle bus drop off at Corn Fest.

For the return, leave airport, west on Pleasant (unloading at 11th) to 7th. North on 7th, unloading on First at Lincoln Hwy, then return to Holmes Student Center.

Corn Fest is one of the last remaining free summer music festivals among Illinois music festivals and summer festivals

in Illinois. Corn Fest is also one of the oldest summer music festivals in Illinois. Well over 100,000 people from around

Illinois and the Midwest attend the music festival over a three day weekend. Admission to the festival is free. This festival features a carnival complete with rides and games, food booths, free live music, kiddie korner with large infl atables, family entertainment and much more. Carnival wristbands are available for unlimited rides during the following times over the weekend : Friday: 3-7 pm, Saturday 11-3 pm or Sunday 11-6 pm.

Wristbands valid only for timeframe for which they are purchased. $22.00 per day. New this year is the MEGA

PASS! For $55 ride unlimited rides ALL WEEKEND LONG! No time restrictions! Otherwise individiual ticket rides may

be purchased throughout the weekend.

The Chuck Siebrasse

Corn BoilSaturday August 25th 11 am - 2 pm

The DeKalb Corn Fest Board of Directors renamed the Corn Boil in 2009 in honor of Chuck Siebrasse, a lifelong DeKalb resident and respected community leader, and Chairman of the Corn

Boil for 25 years, as well as past Chairmain of Corn Fest.

Chuck passed away on February 5, 2009. We honor his memory with this tribute to recognize his lifelong commitment to Corn Fest and his tireless contributions to community service.

Chuck Siebrasse Corn BoilFree steamed sweet corn is available on Saturday during the festival from 11am until 2pm (or when corn runs out). Over 100,000 people from around the Midwest attend the event

which serves over 70 tons of sweet corn during the weekend! Corn is available for purchase throughout the weekend at various booths and food vendors.

Suggested Items to Bring

• Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen: to protect you on hot, sunny days

• Fanny pack or backpack: to carry your souvenirs, gifts, and belongings. Please note that all bags are subject to inspection on festival grounds.

• Cellular phone: to allow you to connect with friends and family attending the Festival

• Pen, paper, PDA and/or business cards: to exchange phone numbers with old friends you’ll run into and new friends you’ll meet

• Schedule of Events: this can be printed by clicking on the “Sound Stage” link or picked up at one of the Festival Information Booths

• Comfortable pair of shoes: since you’ll probably do lots of walking throughout the day

• Comfortable clothes: dress appropriately for the weather

• Photo camera: to treasure your memories of this year’s Festival.

• Binoculars: if you’re seated far away from the stage

• Cash: to purchase Offi cial Festival merchandise, art and crafts, and

tickets for purchasing food and beverages.

• ATM Card: ATM machines are available on the Festival grounds

• Small umbrella or rain hat: in case of showers

What NOT to Bring

The following items are prohibited at the Fest. Bags/Purses will be checked at all entrances:

• No outside beverages or alcohol• No coolers• No Handbills or placing fl yers on

windshields• No skateboards, rollerblades, bicycles,

segways• No Motorized vehicles (except for

motorized vehicles for handicapped)• No unsealed water bottles or glass

bottles• No animals (except for service animals)• No Grills, open fl ames, fi rearms• No Knives, weapons of any sort.

Items that are PermittedThe following items are permitted at

the Festival:• Knapsacks and totes are allowed but

will be checked at festival entrances. Please note that a wide variety of food and beverages are available for purchase at the festival concession areas.

• Lawn chairs: We strongly encourage you to bring lawn chairs and remind you that the areas closest to the stage are fi rst come, fi rst served.

• Photo cameras: still cameras and camcorders are permitted.

We ask you to respect Mother Nature and pick up your trash as you leave.

Bike RallySunday, August 26th, 2012

The Corn Fest Bike Rally is a classic family event in DeKalb. The ride starts at Lions Park in DeKalb and follows the trail system all the way to South Prairie School in Sycamore, an 18 mile round trip. Riders must wear helmets and are expected to mind the rules of the road at all intersections. The DeKalb Police will be available to help at busy intersections, but the course is not closed and riders must ride re-sponsibly. Registration will begin at Lions Park at 8am on Sunday, August 26th. This is a free event open to the public. Riders ride at their own risk and will be asked to sign a waiver. The ride will begin at 10am and riders will ride at their own pace. At South Prairie School, refreshments will be provided. Water will be provid-ed by Northern Illinois Waterworks of DeKalb. The event is sponsored by North Central Cyclery. RED WOODYRed Woody has been redefi ning what a

cover band is all about. There were a couple things we wanted to focus on that would separate us from the other cover bands in the area. First, play songs that the people want to hear. Red Woody’s philosophy-there are great songs from every decade, why not play them? Some of the Artists we cover are Journey, Matchbox 20, Bon Jovi, the Strokes, Bryan Adams, Goo Goo Dolls, AC/DC, Mellencamp, Poison, Skynyrd, Metro Station, Petty, Nine Days ...In a word..diversity. Secondly, we wanted every show to be a party. At a Red Woody show, we want you to feel like you are in the front row of your favorite concert. Third..Did we mention party? Just come out and see a show!!.

SUNFALLENWith the release of their debut EP,

SunFallen has fi rmly planted their boots on the Chicago music scene. The vintage feel of their rock and roll has been compared to that of the Rolling Stones, Black Crowes, and Led Zeppelin. You could feel the energy and excitement of the packed room as the band debuted their tracks live at their release party at Chicago’s famed Double Door in February. Since then, audiences, big and small, have received the EP favorably across Chicagoland. SunFallen has been fortunate enough to take the stage at some of Chicagoland’s premier venues, including Joe’s Bar, 115 Bourbon St, The Cubby Bear, The Abbey Pub, Blue Chip Casino, Ballydoyle, McGee’s, and plenty of other bars throughout the Midwest. Johnny B even played on of their songs on his popular morning show on 97.9, The Loop. The band has sold hundreds of copies since the release. They also want to note that they intend to add “of thousands” to the last sentence.

But SunFallen didn’t just appear out of thin air. The success of the band has come from

the combined talent, practice, experience, and connections from the 5 members. The band has been playing together since 2006 and all of its members have come from past projects around Chicagoland. Members include Jay O’Malley on lead vocals and guitar, Brian Phillips on lead guitar, Zack Eret on the bass, Jojo Orga on the drums, and Matt Starr as a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. The band is self managed and in the short term wants to continue to play out and grow their Midwest audience, while perfecting new songs for an upcoming full-length release.

Dot, a Chicago quintet that takes the idea of making music fun quite seriously. The band operates as both a recording act and an entertainment ensemble, with four EPs of original material released to date. But Dot Dot Dot is perhaps best known for delivering an intense, energetic live show that features melodic and memorable original songs alongside rock, pop, and dance favorites from the 1980s through today. The band members all take lead vocals, swap instruments, and collectively curate a nonstop set of music that’s as fun as it is professional. The co-ed group tours nationwide, in venues ranging from college hotspots to resort casinos to House of Blues locations.

Dot has performed over 700 shows and sold thousands of CDs – all without record label support. After fi nishing in the top fi ve on FOX TV’s 2007 “American Idol” spin-off show, “The Next Great American Band,” the group has gone on to perform high-profi le shows, including events for the Sundance Film Festival, VH1 Save the Music, WGN, T-Mobile, and Victoria’s Secret. Other notable performances include an annual slot at Summerfest in Milwaukee and an invite to play at President Obama’s 2010 “Moving America Forward” rally in Chicago.

HI INFIDELITYHi Infi delity™ is a cover band from the

Chicago area, playing music of all types, but mostly from the 80s Rock period. Journey, REO Speedwagon, Bon Jovi and Boston to name a few. For six consecutive years, the band was voted as the Best Rock Cover Band, vocalist Dave Mikulskis was voted as Best Vocalist and, in 2010, Bobby Scumaci was voted Best Keyboardist in Suburban NiteLife Magazine’s Best of the Burbs contest!

Going to a Hi Infi delity show is a total concert experience from start to fi nish, with a wide variety of songs and fans. Not only do they cover the classics but are currently playing new music like Daughtry, Nickelback and Buckcherry.

Loomis, Rout 38 was formed with only one requirement – TO HAVE FUN, both for our band and our audiences!

With a combined playing time of over 70 years, our members have been entertaining audiences in Illinois for decades.

BACK COUNTRY ROADSBack Country Roads has been playing to

capacity crowds since June of 2009 when Mary, Kyle and Brian formed the band as a 3 piece acoustic band. They competed in the US99/Colgate Country Showdown in 2009 where they placed third in the state of Illinois. They also competed in CMT’s “Can You Duet” in Nashville.

NEAL MCCOY No doubt about it, in the 20 years since

he released his fi rst single, Neal McCoy - the one-of-a-kind country singer and consummate liver performer - has enjoyed every minute of his long, successful career. Even with 11 albums, over 25 charted singles and countless thousands of touring miles already under his big belt buckle, the Longview, Texas-based artist has no intention of slowing down.

“I’m still on the road 220 days a year,” McCoy says, “It’s crazy, but I really do love it.”

Whether he’s delivering a stirring version of “America the Beautiful” in front of 65,000 standing, cheering fans in Texas Stadium or performing for troops in any number of harrowing, far-fl ung locales, or coming out of a nowhere with a top-10 comeback single on his own independent label, critics, radio programmers and legions of die hard fans have come to know that they can always expect the unexpected from McCoy.

At the same time, McCoy is the most reliable and predictable of artists.

“We do work hard, and I’m going to work until I have entertained you.” he says. “You may be the guy in coveralls sitting in the third row who’s there because his wife wanted to come and who doesn’t give a damn, but by the time my show is over we think you will be clapping, if nothing else, at least for the effort I put forth.”

Growing up the youngest of three, McCoy was subjected to the radio tastes of his older siblings, and he was treated to a steady diet of ‘70s era top-40 from Elton John to the Carpenters. His brother and sister also taught him all about family harmony.

“They would tell me, “You hear pitch well, so they made me think I could sing,” he recalls.

After fi nishing junior college, McCoy moved with his dad to nearby Longview,

where he landed his fi rst professional gig, as lead singer in an (almost) famous all-black Kool & the Gang-style dance band, playing “tiny little clubs.” Before long, he left that gig for a better one - singing supper club-style standards. McCoy’s natural performing skills and uncanny way with an audience became more apparant with every passing night.

“I had a knack for sussing out whatever people I was in front of and saying and doing the right things to get along, “ he recalls. “I grew up with that attitude and when I was able to get onsage it was the same thing.”

To date, McCoy has done 13 USO tours, both domestic and overseas. McCoy’s USO tours have been life changing experiences, but his determination to leverage his celebrity status, to benefi t worthy causes goes way back. In 1995, McCoy and his wife, Melinda, established the East Texas Angel Network. Through fundraising activities the organization has raised over fi ve million dollars for medical treatments and related costs for children of East Texas.

Between record deals, between hits, going with his gut, singing from the heart, it’s been quite a ride, and these days you’ll fi nd Neal McCoy on the road doing what he does besst - bringing down the house, night after night.

There is nothing quite like the thrill of fl ying through history back to WWII! This plane is almost exactly as it was when it was built during the war. The only things that have changed are modern avionics in the cockpit and no live ammunition in the fi fty caliber machine guns! The pilots will be happy to tell you all about the airplane and its fl ying characteristics, and what makes the B-25 such a phenomenal airplane. In order to fl y the B-25 for the CAF you must have hundreds of hours of fl ying experience and many many hours getting certifi ed to fl y this particular airplane. Most of our pilots are also current or retired commercial airline pilots. Give a gift they’ll always remember, a fl ight through history! A one hour experience is $450, this includes a prefl ight briefi ng, engine run-up and fl ight time. Please allow for at least 2 hours to meet with the crew, ask questions, hear colorful answers and view our extensive

museum. The fl ights will be conducted at DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport during Corn Fest weekend August 24th-26th. Flights will last approximately one hour from start to shut down. The American Barnstormers Tour, a nostalgic salute to the barnstormers who ventured across America during the 1920s seeking fame and fortune in their biplanes, is scheduled to visit DeKalb Corn Fest Aug. 24-26 2012. As many as fourteen meticulously restored vintage aircraft from the 1920s and

1930s will journey across the Midwest on a fi ve-city tour.

The Tour aircraft will be on display from ap-proximately 11 am to 6pm each day (weath-er permitting). A select group of aircraft and highly skilled aviators are chosen for each tour based on the uniqueness of their ships and their commitment to promoting vintage aviation. All barnstormers participate in rec-reating the era with period costumes, aircraft signage, historical information, and vintage props. They are aviation ambassadors and love to share the stories and personal history of their aircraft with anyone who will listen.

Each day the aircraft will take to the skies for the “Barnstormers Parade of Flight” with mas-ter of ceremonies, EAA Radio on-air personal-ity, Jeff Montgomery. Jeff will entertain the

crowd with his unique announcing style while they hear tall tales of barnstorming and learn the history of each biplane as the pilots fl y overhead. The parade of fl ight times are announced each day after the pilots have had a chance to re-

Spectators can even experience the thrill of open cockpit fl ight for themselves and go barnstorming in a beautifully restored Travel Air, Waco, or New Standard vintage biplane. Biplane rides will be available daily weather permitting. Biplanes can take up to 4 passengers at a time and are $70.00 per person for the 15 minute fl ight experience. No reservations and all ages can fl y.

“These aren’t airplanes, they’re Time Machines” said tour organizer Clay Adams. “Our tour gives people from all over the country the chance to travel back in time and experience the same sights, sounds, and excitement they would have felt some 80 years ago as they looked out across the fi elds and saw the Barnstormers on the horizon.”

The period between the end of World War I and the United States’ entry into World War II is remembered as “The Golden Age of Aviation,” and it truly was. Barnstorming tours, trophy races, and record-setting fl ights all captured the public’s at-tention as they raced to see the daring fl ocks of birdman, and take their fi rst fl ight in an open cockpit airplane.

The American Barnstormers Tour was born under the wing of an antique Travel Air biplane on a grass airfi eld in Iowa. In the company of friends and vintage biplane pilots plans were formed to resurrect the barnstorming tours of the 1920s, where many local citizens would see their fi rst airplane up

close, or perhaps spend a few dollars for their fi rst fl ight. Tour organizers Clay Adams and Sarah Wilson saw an oppor-tunity to give visitors from all backgrounds a unique vantage point to connect the past with the present. What started as just a dream has blossomed into a real barnstorming revival.

The fi rst American Barnstormers Tour lifted off in 2006 with 17 airplanes from Kalamazoo, MI and traveled through 5 states to end at Air Venture in Oshkosh, WI. The response was tremendous; it reinforced our belief that people were still excited to see these beautiful aircraft and take their fi rst biplane ride. In 2008 the Tour fl ew westward into America’s Heartland crossing Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri and grew to 19 aircraft. In 2010 we estimate more than 20,000 people traveled to see our 17 aircraft tour the Great Plains starting in Mason City, IA and working through the Dakotas to fi nish in Alexandria, MN. For the summer of 2012 the American Barnstormers will return to North Dakota and the Midwest with a slightly smaller crew of ap-proximately 14 airplanes but are anticipating the numbers for biplane rides and attendance to be our biggest yet.
