KIDS COUNT
• What is D.C. KIDS COUNT?
• Philosophy: Where children live, learn and play deeply affects all aspects of their lives
• Hypothesis: Concentrated poverty (and privilege) in D.C. drives inequity / inequality –it’s about more than differences in individuals and families, it’s about neighborhoods
Questions
• Build visualizations of selected traditional child well-being data sets (not including place data yet)
• Overlay place data on top of traditional data sets
• Investigate and propose simple prototype of index of neighborhood well-being for children
• Build and visualize prototype well-being index
