DDA Compliance Check list for requirements, for lift installations with Level 1 facilities BS EN81-70 Is access to the lift adequately signposted from the building entrance? Does the lift serve all levels? Does the lift serve the main entry level? Are automatic doors fitted? Is clear opening 800mm wide or more? (900 mm wide for type-3 lifts) Is an electronic door detector edge fitted? Is the door dwell time adjustable between 2 to 15 seconds to allow adequate time for Disabled USers to enter lift? Is there a clear space of 1500mm wide x 1500mm deep on each landing in front of the lift openings? Is there adequate lighting on lift lobbies? Are pushes on landing located between 900mm and 1100mm above floor level and a minimum of 500mm from return? Do pushes have audible and visual acceptance of call acceptance? Is there a tactile floor designation plate on each landing adjacent to the push plate? Are landing indicators in accordance with Table 2? Is the car operating panel located on one side wall of the car with first push at 400mm back from car front? Are car pushes locate between 900mm and 1100mm above floor level? Are the alarm and door open buttons located at 900mm above car floor level? Is the main car push button green and does it protrude 5mm beyond plate? Are all push buttons of a tactile type and compliant size and do they contrast with faceplate material? Does the alarm button illuminate when pressed and is it yellow? Is there a position indicator within the lift car and is it 30-60mm high, located between 1600-1800mm above floor? Is the lift car internal size suitable for wheelchair access? Is there a speech synthesiser fitted?

Is there a hands-free autodialler fitted with contact to a 24-hour source of assistance and is it fitted with an inductive loop cou-pler and visual confirmation of call?

Is there adequate lighting within the lift car?

Is the car flooring of a non-slip type?

Is there adequate colour contrast between car and landing floor finishes?

Are there handrails fitted within the lift car at a height of 900mm above floor level?

For car types 1 & 2, is there a mirror on the rear wall of a single entry car, 900mm above floor level?

Is the drive system capbale of achieving stopping accuracy of +_ 10mm?

Provide and fit speech unit with driver board for existing controller.

Install hands-free autodialler complete with inductive loop, preferably as part of new COP, alternatively, as a separate fitting. Client to provide telephone!

Upgrade lighting to achieve 100 lux at floor level.

Replace car flooring with contrasting non-slip type.

Replace floor covering to contrast with landing flooring colour.

Provide new 35mm min. dia. tubular handrail to at least one side wall.

Provide new laminated safety glass mirror, securely mounted to rear car wall

Not essential requirment, but advisable on busy or group lifts.

Upgrade or replace drive system as appropriate with new shaft controls.
