dead of winter maps

I have just finished preparing an alternative high detail map for the Dead of Wi nter scenario. This is a Keepers Eyes Only kind of map. It shows the following:  The known summer camps of the Netsilik in blue dots The new winter camps on the sea ice in red dots. The route of The Erebus and The Terror shown as a blue line as well as the likel y route the crew travelled after having abandoned the ships. The location of Gjoa Haven  At the time of the scenario the Hudson Bay Company ac tually ran a trading post from this sheltered cove where Amundsen originally lan ded back in 1903. In my campaign I ll have the investigators go there for help onl y to find that the Gnoph-Keh have made short work of the white traders. (I have more details on the trading post at Gjoa Haven). The radius of the Banish Gnoph-Keh spell is shown by a circle. The location where the two Inuit and their dogs have been slaughtered by the Gno ph-Keh. Booth Point skeleton is where I plan to have the investigators find the remains of one of the crewmembers of the Franklin Expedition. Starvation Cove is where the majority of the crewmembers of the Franklin Expedit ion perished. The Netsilik have been going to this place for many years in order  to dig for metal trinkets for use in their daily life. I have moved the camps closer to the expedition base camp in order to reduce tra vel time and make the dogsled trips more realistic. See my other post concerning  Inuit camp locations and travel distances. I have also prepared a map showing the estimated route the two ships have been d rifting on the ice floe in order to end of in the middle area of Bathurst Island . I estimate that the ships have travelled approximately 725 km (640 km as the c row flies) from where they were abandoned. Just how the ships ended up on an ice floe in the center of an island is open to debate, but it is, in theory, impossible. This is, perhaps, the Franklin Expedition's final and most puzzling mystery." Now considering that both ships are in exactly the same condition as descriped in the note found in the cairn (by M'Clintock by the way - that's another issue I'll adress) I personally find it unlikely (but equally good) that Ithaqua would have picked up both ships and put

them down ever so gently so as not to destroy anything on the ships.Why would he? But I guess Our Lord Ithaqua moves in mysterious waysthat mankind was never meant to fully fathom.Be that as it may, I find it appealing to toy with the idea that theships could have been carried on a northbound journey locked in solidice on top of a gigantic ice flow, slowly drifting inside the deepcove on Bathurst Island that reaches almost to the center of theisland as indicated by my map. There I imagine the ice floe coming toa halt. The slate of ice that the ships had been locked in would thenever so slowly be moved onto firm rock be the strong wind, thecurrent of the ocean and the eroding layer og snow and ice coveringthe ice flow. Anyway... that's my Scully-esque theory for thoseinvestigators who are less inclined to hold Ithaqua responsible.
