When: May 02, 2015 | Time: 8:00 a.m.
Location: DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel at the Cedar Rapids Convention Complex
The IMS Annual Conference, IMS 2015: Lead. Succeed. Thrive., will be held May 2-3, 2015, at the DoubleTree by
Hilton Hotel at the Cedar Rapids Convention Complex. There are many differences between the 2015 IMS Annual
Conference and the IMS Annual Meetings that preceded it. The most obvious of these differences is the absence of the
House of Delegates. For 164 years, the House of Delegates was the main focus of the IMS Annual Meeting. Education
dominates the 2015 IMS Annual Conference. Please note that IMS is no longer hosting a meeting of the membership
but offering an educational conference designed to provide members an opportunity to increase their knowledge and
understanding of issues relevant to evolving the practice of medicine plus events to build/renew relationships with
their peers. Register now to attend IMS 2015: Lead. Succeed. Thrive.
Location and Lodging:
IMS 2015: Lead. Succeed. Thrive., will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel at the Cedar Rapids Convention Complex, in

Mercy Pulmonology Clinic offers state-of-the-art Interventional Pulmonology services that include both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. What is Interventional Pulmonology? Interventional pulmonology is a relatively new field to help diagnose and treat benign and malignant pulmonary diseases, including the trachea, airways, lungs and pleura. It uses a variety of bronchoscopes and does not require open surgery, incisions or hospital stays. Why Mercy Pulmonology Clinic? Mercy Medical Center has the newest technologies and instruments, providing the perfect environment for me to maximize my skills as Cedar Rapids’ only board-certified Interventional Pulmonologist. At Mercy, I can offer patients the highest level of care with procedures that are not available anywhere else, other than a few large academic centers around the country. For more information on any of our interventional pulmonary services, please contact me directly at [email protected], or call our office at (319) 221-8788. I would be more than happy to provide you with additional information about these treatment options and to discuss the appropriate patients who may benefit. Sincerely,

Coordinated CareWe respect the importance of your time. When breathing is difficult, time is of the essence. The Lung Center offers patients the option of scheduling multiple services and tests in one day versus being spread out over several days or weeks. It’s an added convenience that leads to faster answers and treatment.
Patient NavigatorYour guide and resource throughout the day. Mercy’s Lung Center offers a patient navigator to help escort the patient throughout the day and assist as a clinical resource in answering any questions that may arise. Our patient navigator can be reached at (319) 389-5165.
Conditions we treat include: Asthma
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV)
Sleep Apnea
Lung Cancer
Neuro-Muscular Disorders
Pneumonia
Types of services we offer include:Bronchoscopy procedures – a minimally invasive technique that utilizes a small camera device to help reach, diagnose and treat lesions in the airways or the lungs. This is an outpatient procedure done under conscious sedation or general anesthesia for patient comfort.
Bronchial Thermoplasty: A minimally invasive, outpatient procedure for patients with severe persistent asthma that is not under control with regular medications. This technique reduces excess of smooth muscle in the airways, achieving better asthma control.
Pulmonary Stenting: Used in some benign diseases and to complement the treatment of cancer that affects the airways and lungs. The stents are mesh tubes made of metal and/or silicone that hold open the airway that otherwise will collapse.
Endobronchial Ultrasound Bronchoscopy (EBUS): Special bronchoscope with an ultrasound device on its tip to help the pulmonologist locate structures next to the airways (lymph nodes, tumors) or deep in the lungs, leading to a more precise and safe biopsy.
Electromagnetic Navigational Bronchoscopy (superDimension® ENB): Advanced technology that creates a 3-D road map of the lungs based on the patient’s CT, allowing the pulmonologist to locate and reach almost any size of lesion and difficult areas in the lungs.
Lung Cancer ScreeningA simple, safe screening and education for long-term, heavy smokers aged 55 or older.
Pulmonary Function Tests A painless way to measure how well your lungs are working. Results of the tests may explain shortness of breath, various types of lung problems, and whether breathing problems are a risk during general anesthesia.
Pulmonary Exercise Stress Test Helps differentiate between pulmonary and cardiac symptoms.
Smoking Cessation Led by a Mayo-Certified Smoking Cessation Specialist, this four-week course provides a comprehensive and individualized quit plan that includes educational sessions, support and experts that help guide patients to quit and stay quit.
