Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. (516-507-3410) plans to open a Bed Bath & Beyond home furnishings store at Pearlridge Center, located in Aiea, HI. The 65,000 sq.ft. store will occupy a former Circuit City space at the center and will be the concept’s first location in the state. The company currently operates 1,000 stores throughout 49 states nationwide as well as Canada and Puerto Rico.

hhgregg, Inc. (317-848-8710) will open 20 hhgregg stores nationwide this year, including locations in a former Circuit City site at Dickson City Commons in Dickson City, PA and a former Kids “R” Us space at Wyoming Valley Mall in Wilkes-Barre Township, PA. The stores offer consumer electronics, home appliances and mattresses. The company also plans to open as many as 45 stores during 2011 and currently operates 127 stores nationwide.

Lowe’s Cos., Inc. (704-758-1000) plans to open a Lowe’s Home Improvement store at McCandless Crossing, located in McCandless, PA, during the fall. Fidelity Bank is also slated to open a bank branch at the center during the fall.

Fox Restaurant Concepts, LLC (480-905-6920) will open a True Food Kitchen at Fashion Island in Newport Beach, CA later this year. The restaurant will occupy a 9,600 sq.ft. space, will feature quartz countertops, low-voltage LED lighting and other environmentally-conscious fixtures and will participate in the Green Restaurant Association. The company recently opened a 5,400 sq.ft. Culinary Dropout restaurant in Scottsdale, AZ. The company currently operates 28 restaurants throughout AZ, CO, KS and TX under the Culinary Dropout, True Food Kitchen, Bar North, Blanco Tacos + Tequila, Bloom, Chloe’s Corner, Greene House, NoRTH, Montana Avenue, Olive & Ivy Restaurant + Marketplace, Sauce, Wildflower and Zinburger trade names.

Sendik’s Food Markets (414-964-9525) plans to open a Sendik’s grocery store at New Berlin Plaza, located along South Moorland Road in New Berlin, WI. The supermarket will occupy a 30,000 sq.ft. former Lang The Factory Store site. The company currently operates Sendik’s stores in Elm Grove, Franklin, Germantown, Grafton, Greenfield, Mequon, Wauwatosa and Whitefish Bay, WI.

WinCo Foods, LLC (208-377-0110) will open WinCo Foods supermarkets in Ogden and Orem, UT this month and a store in Roy, UT during the summer. The Ogden store will be located at the intersection of 12th Street and Wall Avenue, the Orem store will be located at the intersection of Interstate 15 and 800 North and the Roy store will be located at the intersection of 6000 South and 3500 West. The company entered the UT market with stores in Midvale and West Valley City that opened during October 2009.

Kohl’s Corp. (262-703-7000) is planning to open a Kohl’s department store in a former Gottschalks location at Junction Shopping Center, located in Sonora, CA. The company currently operates 1,059 stores throughout 49 states nationwide.

Ingles Markets, Inc. (828-669-2941) plans to replace or remodel seven Ingles Market locations throughout the remainder of its fiscal year, which began during October 2009. The company also plans to open four fuel stations at new or existing stores during the year. During the first quarter, the company opened one location and remodeled another.

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. (479-273-4000) plans to open a 99,000 sq.ft. Walmart store at Northcross Shopping Center, located along West Anderson Lane in Austin, TX. The company had originally planned to open a 200,000 sq.ft. store at the site but was forced to alter its plan due to heavy community opposition. The new store will feature environmentally-friendly improvements including low-flow plumbing and natural lighting solutions. The company also plans to open a 150,000 sq.ft. Walmart Supercenter along John Sims Parkway in Niceville, CA. The store, considered a

“scaled-down Supercenter,” will feature a full grocery department along with a pharmacy, an optical shop and a garden center, but will not feature a tire and auto center like the company’s larger Supercenter locations. The store is slated to open later this year or during the early part of next year.

Grocery Outlet, Inc. (510-845-1999) will open a Grocery Outlet Bargain Market store at a former Value Village site located along 15th Avenue Northwest in the Ballard area of Seattle, WA. The discount supermarket is slated to open next month.

Phase 1 Under ConstructionAnchored by Save-A-Lot

Tulepan Management LLC has started construction of Phase 1 of Coral Square Shoppes, a 182,000sf retail center situated on 17 acres on S. US 1 and Edwards Road in Fort Pierce.

Phase 1 will be anchored by a 17,000sf SAVE-A-LOT Food Store and 25,000sf of retail space in two buildings, which is scheduled to be completed and open in June. When completed, the project will consist of retail, restaurant, entertainment and office components.

Financing for Phase 1 of the project is being provided by the City of Fort Pierce, in conjunction with the Federal Government’s HUD 108 Loan Program. The project was the first if its kind in the City of Fort Pierce to receive official “Brownfield” designation and was subsequently awarded a Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Brownfield Economic Development Initiative, which is co-sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The architect for the project is Kenneth McGee PA, and the general contractor is Kast Construction.
