System Overview - Concept

The underlying concept to the Dean system is the lecturer shares a code key with students attending their session in a given location at a given time for them to check-in to the session they are attending to log their attendance.

Both lecturer and students record their presence at the start and end of sessions in a simple ‘app like’ interface on their preferred equipment – laptop, mobile phone or tablet.

System Overview – Fraud Prevention

Unseen by the lecturer and student, Dean locates the position of the device being used to enter the registration to prevent fraud. If an ‘off-site’ student is told the code by a fellow student and tries to fraudulently claim attendance Dean will pick this up and alert the administrator.

System Overview – System Integration

The Dean system is simply integrated into your existing student data management programme. Data can be uploaded and reports can be exported in standard data formats to ensure that Dean can complement your current administrative programmes. Any complex integration requirements can be customised for you as a service.

In the back end of the platform, a full suite of reports can be run on a daily/weekly/monthly/term based schedule. Reports available include: •  Attendance by student •  Attendance summary by faculty •  Attendance summary buy lecturer •  Overall statistics •  Student flag – Attendance issues •  Student flag – Fraudulent entry query

Additional Optional Features

The basic Dean option can be upgraded to add additional functionality that you may require for your institution. The following are existing add-ons you may like but fully customisable options can be created:

•  ‘My schedule’ where each students term schedule is uploaded so notifications can be sent to them of upcoming classes and sessions

•  Upload of course documentation so students can access it during and after sessions •  Polling and questionnaires to rate classes and other faculty activities •  Course progress showing students their % completion of their full course •  News feed for campus, institution or school news with notifications sent to
