CALIBR is a membership organization and leadership network dedicated to accelerating the careers of mid-to-senior level Black executives. CALIBR provides leadership development in the form of specialized training, mentoring and coaching, and networking opportunities to give members access to what’s next in driving business success. If you are considering membership in the organization, here are some important things to keep in mind:

• Only Electronic Submissions will be considered. • You should plan to budget at least $5,000 to cover your 2016 membership

participation and meeting costs. This includes your annual membership dues, travel expenses, and meeting registration.

• CALIBR’s lead sponsor, Prudential will host the 2016 New Member Orientation May 12-13th in Newark, New Jersey. Attendance is mandatory for all newly accepted CALIBR members.

• The 2016 CALIBR Summer Business Meeting will be held June 8 – 10th. Detroit, Michigan is one of a few places being considered for the meeting location.

• The 2016 CALIBR Global Executive Forum will be he held November 3 – 5th in Washington, DC.

Founded in 1999, CALIBR is a world-class professional organization that offers career and leadership development, community service opportunities, and points of connectivity for mid-career professionals of African descent. CALIBR is a non-profit tax-exempt organization.

Our purpose is to create the premier global membership organization, leadership development resource, and network for mid-career executives who are identified by their companies as high potentials with senior leadership potential.

Active CALIBR membership requires: 1. Payment of annual dues2. Annual submission of professional and contact information via member portal 3. Serving in a volunteer leadership role, in an operations support role, or on one of the

established advisory groups or committees for CALIBR; and participation in CALIBR activities (meetings, conferences, symposiums, etc.)

4. Collaborating with CALIBR to help build relationships with senior executive leadership of your organization.

Eligible professionals that meet our criteria for membership as well as participants in The Executive Leadership Council’s (ELC) Pipeline programs, which include The ELC Institute for Leadership Development & Research are invited to apply. This process places special emphasis on selecting Black professionals who have a history of high performance and demonstrate the potential to become senior leaders in business. CALIBR members range in age from the late-twenties to the mid-forties and have excelled in a wide variety of industries and job functions. Most have graduate degrees and hold positions within three to six levels of their companies corporate CEOs. All candidates will be evaluated based on individual merit.

Candidates for membership must, at minimum, satisfy the following:§ Demonstrated promise for growth as a high potential for executive leadership as determined

by either talent management process or sponsorship by a senior executive leader.§ Current role at the Director level or above with commensurate responsibility demonstrated

by leading other leaders or managers, significant P&L authority, and career progression.§ Fifteen years of professional experience of which at least 10 consists of leadership

experience.§ Demonstrated excellence, commitment to continued personal and professional growth and

community service.

Each applicant must be a US citizen or a permanent resident. Absolute compliance with the application requirements, as outlined above is required. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. All materials must be received by February 15, 2016.

Often a leader of leaders, these managers are functional or business unit heads, in charge of a department or geographical area. They balance short-term functional concerns with a longer view on driving competitive advantage.

People LeadersApproximately 60% of members

Likely promoted as an outstanding individual contributor, these team leaders focus on day-to-day tactical accomplishments. To be successful, they need to learn to get results through others rather than relying solely on themselves.

Senior Contributors (Strategic Influencers)Approximately 20% of members

Leaders and owners of process in their organization, these individuals influence and enable business units and functional divisions to positively affect the bottom-line of their organizations as facilitators and advisors to business leaders on strategy, new business, products and government and regulatory affairs.

The number of acceptances each year is limited thus this is a highly competitive process and your application package should effectively communicate why you should be one of the strategic few.

Applicants may be contacted for a phone interview during the evaluation process.

Applicants who receive an invitation to join will be notified by the week of March 21, 2016 and will be required to submit their annual dues payment by April 4, 2016. They must also attend the mandatory new member orientation in May 2016. Candidates receiving an invite to join are also required to submit a digital “professional” headshot for a member profile via the Intranet and other uses including the newsletter, etc.
