BUILDING SUPPORT FOR ISRAEL FROM COAST TO COAST SUMMER 2012 DEAR CUFI SUPPORTERS I write this newsletter from the West Coast where I have the privilege of speaking at several Christians United For Israel events including A Night to Honor Israel in Beverly Hills, CA and Tacoma, WA. I thank the Lord daily for the rapid expansion of CUFI in the last 6 1/2 years and especially the last few months. We have over 760,000 Facebook fans and since May we have hosted over 80 CUFI events such as Nights to Honor Israel, Standing with Israel meetings, CUFI on Campus events and Pastors meetings including our 7th annual Washington DC Summit where over 5,000 delegates from every state in the union gathered to show their biblical support of Israel. Our presence made a strong impact for Israel on Capitol Hill as we visited a record number of Congressional offices. I thank God for each one of you who took the time and resources to show your unity for Israel in our nation’s Capital. 400 CUFI on Campus students attended our DC Summit and with their attendance came their youthful enthusiasm for the cause of Israel on America’s college campuses. Shortly after the Summit, 40 of the top students traveled to Israel to experience the land first hand. SUMMER 2012

DEAR CUFI SUPPORTERSI write this newsletter from the West Coast where I have the privilege of speaking at several Christians United For Israel events including A Night to Honor Israel in Beverly Hills, CA and Tacoma, WA. I thank the Lord daily for the rapid expansion of CUFI in the last 6 1/2 years and especially the last few months.

We announced our one million member mark in March while hosting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem and since then we have added over 150,000 members.

It is our goal to educate and equip as many young students as is financially possible to effectively counter the anti-Semitic teachings in America’s universities.

These are encouraging numbers but we must do more for Israel now than ever before. The nuclear clock is ticking and Christians United for Israel is trying to sound the alarm in every way possible. Israel’s security is being evermore threatened as the neighboring countries surrounding Israel are experiencing radical regime change and as Iran’s leaders continue to promise Israel’s demise. Let us not be accused of being “dumb dogs!”

Isaiah 56:10 states that Israel’s...watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.

Guard dogs are supposed to bark at the sign of impending danger; they are put in place to protect... they are to warn those they protect. We can not turn our eyes away, we must educate ourselves and others and we must not be silent, we cannot hold our peace...

We must defend America by voting for Israel! We must educate our children, our churches and our college campuses with the truth about Israel and her enemies. If America is to be a blessed nation once again then we must stand with Israel and the Jewish people like never before!

If you have never prayed for the peace of Jerusalem then pray today. If you have never attended a CUFI event then make plans to do so. If you are not a member of Christians United for Israel then join today... If you have never supported the work of CUFI then give today...

The Word of God declares that God holds the hearts of kings in the palm of His hand and He turns those hearts like rivers of waters.

The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will. Proverbs 21:1

With the Almighty’s help and blessing, our unified efforts can turn the hearts of men and women toward Israel!

Every minute counts; we must help win the battle for Jerusalem!

May 4, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventEdmonton, Alberta, Canada

A crowd of almost 500 people came out in Edmonton for the purpose of standing with Israel. Holocaust Survivor, Irving Roth, gave a moving and powerful presentation of his experiences

and the importance today of resisting anti-Semitism in any form. “As you have done to Israel, so it will be done to you” (Obadiah 1: 15 NLT) was the scripture that Peter D. Schalin, CUFI Alberta Leader, preached on, emphasizing how nations and individuals who blessed Israel were themselves blessed, and nations and individuals who cursed Israel were themselves cursed. The event was deliberately held at a hotel instead of a church; thereby encouraging Christians from many denominational backgrounds to come together in unity, all for the purpose of honoring Israel. Indeed, a strong spirit of unity was evident at the meeting. “Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity...for there the Lord commanded the blessing” Psalms 133:1, 3. Many people expressed how glad they were for coming to the event, and asked that the events be held annually. May 5, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventGrand Prairie, Alberta, Canada

A crowd of almost 300 people came out to Grande Prairie for the irst Standing With Israel event in Grande Prairie history (Grande Prairie is the most important city in northern

Alberta). The event was held at the Holiday Inn and Suites. Both Irving Roth and Peter D. Schalin gave their presentations: Irving Roth on his adolescent experiences of surviving the Holocaust during World War II, and Peter D. Schalin on why those who bless Israel are blessed and those who curse Israel are cursed. There was a real excitement in the air because of the historic occasion of this being the very irst event sponsored by Christians United for Israel in Grande Prairie. Some Christians traveled over three hours one way from the adjacent province of British Columbia, just to be at this event. Some Pastors from British Columbia were literally pleading with Peter D. Schalin to ‘come over to British Columbia’, and establish a CUFI presence there. Local Grande Prairie leader Pastor Paul Juss of Victory Church on the Rock was very glad to have provided local leadership, and stated his readiness to lead another event in 2013. This picture shows only a few of the many students, parents and lovers of Israel who gathered in the beautifully decorated Centennial Hall on the campus of Arkansas State University for

the CUFI On Campus’ irst Night To Honor Israel. All the CUFI chapter members worked countless hours to organize, promote and put on a most impressive tribute to Israel and the Jewish community. Sarah Grubbs and Rebekah Dancy were co-chairpersons of the event. Pastor Stan Ballard, pastor of Nettleton Baptist Church in

Jonesboro who attended last year’s DC Summit was instrumental in getting the ASU chapter started. Pastor Ballard and CUFI Central Regional Coordinator, Col. John Somerville were the keynote speakers among the presenters at this wonderful event on the campus. Pastor Ballard summed up the evening by saying, “Tomorrow’s leaders of our nation are on these campuses today. The importance of supporting Israel is the key to our nation’s survival and it has to be emphasized today in our institutions of higher education. Tonight is an important event, but it is only a beginning. This work must continue and grow. God bless these students and may their tribe increase!”May 5-7, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventWarner Robins, GA

Over 500 people, including pastors and leaders from other cities, attended the Standing With Israel weekend at Christ Chapel Warner Robins. The weekend started with a very

intimate gourmet dessert gathering of “leaders only” and CUFI Eastern Regional Coordinator, Pastor Victor Styrsky. Israel advocacy was a new message to this community and the two and a half hours of non-stop Q & A concerning the Biblical mandate of standing with Israel “primed the pump” for the following three services over the next two days. Over 500 people, including 40 pastors and leaders from other churches, were presented with the urgency and righteousness of standing with Israel and the Jewish community in these perilous times. A number of college students expressed great interest in the upcoming 2012 CUFI Washington Summit and the church is now planning to participate in a 2013 CUFI Georgia Israel trip! Christ Chapel Senior Pastor Andy King sent the following email: “I wanted to give a raving endorsement for my friend Victor to any pastor who is considering turning the heart of the church toward Israel. He just completed a 3-day weekend with our church, and he was outrageously effective. He brought sobering truth but with great passion and humility. His insight was revelation to the majority of our house. He left our people wanting more. If you have any questions feel free to contact me personally.” Andy King, Christ Chapel Warner Robins.May 6, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventCalgary, Alberta, Canada

A very enthusiastic crowd came out to Calgary for the irst Standing With Israel event in Calgary history (Calgary is the largest city in Southern Alberta). The event was held at the

Greenwood Inn. Holocaust Survivor, Irving Roth, and Peter D. Schalin, CUFI Alberta leader, gave their respective presentations, similar to the presentations made the two nights previous, in Edmonton and Grande Prairie. There was a strong spirit of support from the crowd, as they gave many audible expressions of agreement that all Christians must stand for Israel. A special event was the Rabbinical Blessing from local Rabbi Yisroel Miller of the House of Jacob Mikveh Israel Synagogue (located appropriately on Jerusalem Street in Calgary!). After he was warmly introduced his irst words were “Let me

savor the sight – the sight of Christians standing for Israel.” He was clearly very touched by the strong expression of support for Israel by Christians. Again, just as at the event the previous night in Grande Prairie, Christians traveled three hours one way from the adjacent province of British Columbia to be part of this event. Local Calgary leader Pastor Trevor Neufeld of Calgary Word of Faith was very pleased to provide leadership for the event, and was glad that his church provided a large part of the logistics to make the event the success.May 6, 2012CUFI Night to Honor Israel EventBrooklyn Park, MN

The excitement that illed the sanctuary was electric as close to 3,000 Christians and Jews joined together for a Night to Honor Israel to show their support for the State of Israel

and the Jewish people. Pastors Mac and Lynn Hammond opened the evening by sharing “Here at Living Word we take very seriously God’s commission to honor Israel.” This statement summed up what the rest of the evening demonstrated. Israel is on the hearts and minds of the Pastors and congregants at Living Word Christian Center. Regional CUFI on Campus Organizer, David Walker also spoke regarding the college movement. David explained that although anti-Semitism is a “giant” on campus, CUFI on Campus is working to make a difference to be the “David” that ultimately slays the giant and brings the pro-Israel message to the next generation. Pastor Stan Ballard of Nettleton Baptist Church of Jonesboro, Arkansas poses with Col. John Somerville following the Sunday evening Stand with Israel event on 6 May, 2012. Pastor Ballard

had just agreed to be the CUFI City Director for the Jonesboro area. Pastor Stan has been instrumental in bringing CUFI, not only to his church, but also in starting the CUFI on Campus chapter. On Sunday morning the service was dedicated to teaching about Israel and God’s eternal promises regarding the descendants of Abraham. The day concluded with Col. Somerville speaking about the current situation in the Middle East, how God judges the nations and reafirming that God is indeed “restoring the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem” (Joel 3). May 6, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventJonesboro, AR

This picture shows only a few of the many parishioners at two Sunday morning services at the First assembly of God Church in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Both services were dedicated to

speaking and praying for Israel. Pastor Matt Smith graciously turned over his pulpit to Col. John Somerville, CUFI’s Central Region Coordinator. The message highlighted the importance of “Speaking out for Zion.” The Biblical text of Esther was used as an example of God’s “hidden hand” moving people and events so that they are in position to change history.

Esther was admonished that if she did not speak out, “relief and deliverance for the Jews would arise from another place.” But she was in position and she did speak out “for such a time as this.” The lesson for our time is that we too must be ready, understand the times, and be courageous enough to speak out. Because, “Who knows if we are in the position where God has put us…for such a time as this?”May 7, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventJonesboro, AR

The meeting room at a local restaurant in Jonesboro, Arkansas was illed beyond capacity for a Stand with Israel dinner meeting. Rev. Robert Norville arranged the meeting

after having attended three previous CUFI events in the city. The folks who attended this dinner were highly motivated citizens, concerned about the future of this country. Several came on the “spur of the moment” after hearing a popular local afternoon radio program hosted by Phil Harrel, about Christians United for Israel. The topic for the meeting was “Israel: The Key to the USA’s Security.” The lesson learned from a comprehensive review of history is that nations are judged by how they treat Israel and the Jewish people. The evening elicited some of the best questions and comments that have ever been heard in these types of meetings. May 7, 2012Pastors’ and Ministry Leaders’ Luncheon Meeti ng/Standing With Israel Meeti ng Loveland, CO

The CUFI Pastors’ Luncheon and Standing With Israel events with Pastor Gary Van Gorp of Two Rivers Fellowship Church were very successful events. The May 7, 2012 solidarity meetings took

place on an unusually rainy morning and evening where over 50 participants combined, learned the value and signiicance of standing with Israel. Pastor Gary and his son were very instrumental in arranging several guests’ attendance and participation. Both the morning and evening events, held at Resurrection Church began with a biblical teaching on the importance of both standing with and praying for Israel and the Jewish community. Pastor Michael Stevens, CUFI African-American Outreach Coordinator, gave strong and compelling reasons on the importance of supporting the State of Israel. A very thorough keynote presentation reinforced the main talking points at both events. All were passionately invited to ill out a CUFI pledge card as well as to attend the Washington, D.C. Summit and other CUFI events in the area for the near future. Richard from Federal Heights, CO attended the event and shared “Christian-American support for Israel is vital. Israel is America’s closest ally in The Middle East. Our enemies call Israel ‘The Little Satan.’ The USA is called ‘The Big Satan.’ Together both Israel and the United States are ighting a war against an enemy that seeks to destroy both nations. God Bless Israel. God Bless America.”

May 8, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventBartlett , TN

Bartlett Station, a community meeting hall that used to be a historic church in Bartlett, Tennessee was the site of the irst CUFI Stand With Israel meeting in the Memphis area.

CUFI Central Regional Coordinator, Col. John Somerville, was invited to speak about the implications of American foreign policy as it relates to Israel. Somerville based his presentation on Joel 3:1-2 which states that nations are judged by God as to how they treat the Land and the people of Israel. One participant said, “This evening was a real eye-opener for me. Now I understand why it is so important that all of us, as believers and non-believers need to make our voices heard in this next election and get people in ofice who will bring a blessing, not only to Israel, but to our nation as well.”May 9, 2012Pastors’ and Ministry Leaders’ Luncheon Meeti ng Salt Lake City, UT

On a beautiful Wednesday afternoon in Salt Lake City, Christians United for Israel, the nation’s largest pro-Israel organization, hosted it’s irst Standing With Israel Luncheon.

This very signiicant event has proven to be most strategic, as CUFI has not had much success gaining traction in the Salt Lake City area. Led by CUFI’s African-American Outreach Coordinator, Pastor Michael A. Stevens, the luncheon brought many participants out from all over the region. Two very kind and hospitable church leaders were instrumental in the event’s success. Pastors, ministry leaders and laypersons alike celebrated their passion for standing with Israel and the Jewish community. One participant of the event went even as far as to voice his expression via email: “Pastor Stevens… Thank you for coming and sharing with us. What you spoke about today opened my mind a little more about what is really going on in this world. Was I skeptical, you better believe I was! I have never heard anything like this or close to this in any of our COGIC settings, locally jurisdictional or nationally. The word does not lie. If you bless Israel, you will be blessed. Whether I believe it or not, the people and nations that are blessing Israel is being blessed…”May 9, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventJonesboro, AR

Pastor James Strait of the Shepherd’s Heart Church of Jonesboro, Arkansas welcomed several hundred people to his church for a Stand With Israel event. Pastor and Mrs. Strait had

recently returned from their irst trip to Israel and were eager to share much more of their insights from the tour. Therefore, on his birthday, he turned the evening into a party where he gave a gift to the region of northeastern Arkansas, by giving them an introduction and a resounding recommendation for the purpose and accomplishments of CUFI. Pastor Strait and Col. Somerville were recently in Israel together, and had also been Marines in Vietnam at the same

time. Now they both share a love and enthusiasm for Israel and the Jewish community. The birthday party for James and Israel turned into a wonderful evening of learning about the importance of our nation irmly Standing with Israel because it is a Godly mandate from Scripture. “What an evening!” said Pastor Strait, “This is the irst birthday party I have given to myself since I was three. Thanks to CUFI, I’ll never forget it and this church is committed to being a blessing to the Jews. Starting tonight!” May 10, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventBooneville, AR

Many of the young people who attended the Stand with Israel meeting in Booneville, Arkansas said, “We never enjoyed listening to a history lesson until tonight.” One student said that the history

of what happened to the Jews during World War II was something they had never been taught in school…”At least I don’t remember learning about it until this evening.” “It was a joy having so many high school students in this meeting,” said Pastor Robert Jones. Pastors Robert and Melissa Jones hosted the meeting at their beautiful Living Waters Tabernacle in southeastern Arkansas. It was encouraging to all that CUFI members from 60 to 70 miles came to Booneville for this irst CUFI meeting in the region.May 11, 2012Pastors’ and Ministry Leaders’ Luncheon Meeti ng Booneville, AR

Pastors Robert and Melissa Jones of the Living Word Tabernacle in Booneville, Arkansas, organized the 1st CUFI Pastor’s Brunch ever held in that part of Arkansas. They

are pictured here in the fabulous Table 42 boutique restaurant which they reserved for the event. The pastors will be attending the Washington, D.C. Summit this July 16 – 18 and are committed to making sure that their church will continue to stand with Israel. “Why?” they ask, “Because that’s what God’s Word plainly tells us we should be doing and should have been doing all along.”May 11, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventFalls Church, VA

With powerful music and dancing, Iglesia Bautistia in Falls Church, VA celebrated a magniicent event in support of Israel and the Jewish people. The event, which was well

attended, was organized by Pastor Kerim Meoño. CUFI National Hispanic Coordinator, Pastor Carlos Ortiz, was the main speaker of the event. He stressed the importance to the exuberant crowd that now is the time for Hispanics to unite for Israel.May 12, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventArlington, VA

El Jordan. The entire congregation got together to celebrate Israel’s 64th Birthday. The event had outstanding music, dancing and a costume contest about personalities of the bible in which people of all ages participated enthusiastically. CUFI National Hispanic Coordinator, Pastor Carlos Ortiz, told the attendees that God blesses those who bless Israel as described in the book of Genesis.May 14, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventPortland, OR

Although CUFI chapters across the country are accustomed to resistance, the pure hatred which faced the CUFI on Campus chapter at Portland State University during a recent event

demonstrates the shocking levels of anti-Semitism simmering just underneath the surface on many of America’s leading universities. On May 14, 2012, CUFI students at Portland State University hosted a “Stand With Israel” event where CBN correspondent and terrorism analyst, Erick Stakelbeck, addressed a crowd of nearly 150 students and community members on “Terrorism, Israel and the US”. As the event approached, over 50 promotional lyers posted by the chapter disappeared or were defaced by anti-Israel activists, forcing the CUFI students to constantly repost lyers throughout the sprawling campus. Then, on Friday, a student made a shocking discovery: someone had scrawled a Nazi Swastika, as well as anti-Israel slogans, over a picture of the Star of David on several of the lyers. This disgusting act of hatred lead to a swarm of coverage by local media outlets including a report on the local ABC as well as CBN and TheBlaze.com following a blog post written by Erick Stakelbeck. That same day, the CUFI on Campus chapter was notiied that anti-Israel groups on campus were planning to protest the event. Despite the continued opposition, the chapter moved forward with the event as planned. As the event was about to start, more than 40 people of all ages walked into the auditorium with signs reading “anti-Racism”, “Your Bigotry Is Showing”, and “Give Racists The Red Card” among other things. The slogans “Silence Racism” and “Free Palestine” were taped over their mouths. Campus police and security were on the scene, but stood by silently. When asked about their role, the Police responded that they were there to ensure that the rights of the protesters would be respected.CUFI chapter president, Josh Ahrens, opened the evening by welcoming everyone in attendance and urging them to be respectful and ask questions at the end.“The use of a swastika on the Star of David is akin to burning crosses on the lawns of African Americans. It is hate-speech, and it has no place here,” Ahrens said, condemning the use of slurs against the chapter and the speaker.Three Jewish students also stood and explained how painful the Swastika was to them. As Stakelbeck began to speak, he repeatedly attempted to engage the protesters and begin a discussion. As he began to discuss Hezbollah, a secret sign was given for the protesters to stand

and leave, at which point several began shouting slogans “Shame on Israel for Killing Gazans,” “Free Israel from Judaism,” and waving their signs and banners. In videos obtained by CUFI after the event, protesters equated Stakelbeck with members of the Klu Klux Klan, and openly applauded the 11 students at the University of California Irvine who shouted down Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren and were later criminally charged for their actions.Despite the opposition, the event was an overwhelming success, with many community members and students pledging to not be silent in the face of such hatred in their backyard. “I think Portland State is a better place because of what we did here tonight,” said Ahrens.Stakelbeck’s powerful message – that the United States and Israel share a common enemy in radical Islam, primed the audience for further action on behalf of Israel.“We were not intimidated and we were not afraid,” said Stakelbeck. “God bless CUFI on Campus, Watchmen and Watchwomen on the wall.”May 18, 2012Pastors’ and Ministry Leaders’ Luncheon Meeti ng Midland, TX

Several churches in the Midland area and as far away as Sweetwater (about an hour away) were represented at a luncheon with Cowboy Church pastors. All were very attentive

and receptive to the vision of CUFI. This was a great builder for the other events including a Night to Honor Israel for Midland, TX.May 20, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventColumbus, OH

The Love of Christ Ministries pastored by Rev. Keith Wilson in Columbus, Ohio was the venue for the 2012 Christians United for Israel Sunday as well as Yom Yerushalim, Jerusalem Day,

commemorating the 45th anniversary of the liberation of Jerusalem during the 1967 Six Day War. May 20, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel Event Tallahassee, FLIt was a beautiful Sunday for our Standing With Israel event as members of the New Life Church in Tallahassee gathered together to celebrate the state of Israel and the Jewish community. The focal point of the service this particular Sunday was Israel, and the great work CUFI is doing to bring all Christians across the country together to support Israel and our Jewish brothers and sisters. CUFI on Campus Regional Organizer, David Walker, was the main speaker. He spoke on securing the next generation of pro-Israel supporters through CUFI on Campus, wrapping-up with an inspiring message to “Have Faith in the Blessing, Blessing Israel can change your life.”

May 20, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventMiami, FL

On a rainy Sunday morning Cristo Vive Miami celebrated its 4th Sunday for Israel event. People from all over Miami attended this memorable event. The music was provided by

Sound of Glory, who put everyone on their feet to sing and worship in support of Israel. Pastor Carlos Ortiz, National Hispanic Coordinator for CUFI, said, “This church is completely committed to CUFI, to Israel and to the Jewish people”May 20, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventColumbus, OH

The Father and Son team of Pastors Gene and Greg Speich, at their Bethel Prayer Center, hosted CUFI Central Regional Coordinator, Col. John Somerville for a Stand With Israel event.

The uniqueness of the Prayer Center is that it shares cooperatively along with other ministries the beautiful facility of Charismalife Ministries headed by Pastors David and Miriam Swaggarty. The subject of the meeting was “Replacement Theology” and it’s foundational basis for the Holocaust. The central question discussed was “How could God make an ‘everlasting’ (olam) and unconditional covenant with Abraham’s descendants and then arbitrarily abrogate it?” The history of Supersession (Replacement Theology) was traced via the sayings of 1st century writers through the 16th century writings of Martin Luther and the 20th century’s horrendous application by Hitler. “I never before understood the linkage between bad theologies and how it lays the groundwork for a satanic outcome,” said a pastor who was in attendance. “CUFI is doing a vitally important job in educating and awakening the Church, so that we can understand the current times.”May 20, 2012CUFI Night to Honor Israel Event Sacramento, CA

Hundreds of people from central California gathered for Sacramento California’s ifth Night To Honor Israel. Gary Bauer gave a razor sharp message on moral clarity and

Judeo-Christian civilization, and Holocaust survivor, Irving Roth, painted a sober reality of anti-Semitism on US college campuses. Israel’s Consul General, Akiva Tor, noted that the Wild Branches music team (led by CUFI Eastern Coordinator, Victor Styrsky) is the “rockiness Christian Zionist group in California.” Comments by Rabbi Reuven Taff and a remembrance of the late Reverend Glen Cole gave an encouraging glimpse of the history and impact of CUFI in the Golden State’s Capitol City.May 21, 2012CUFI Night to Honor Israel EventRiverside, CA

Buchenwald, Mr. Roth challenged the audience to thoughtfully consider what was being said of the Jews in 1938 and what was being said of Israel today. At the end of his talk, all of the students stayed to watch Mr. Roth address questions and accusations from the Muslim Student Association and Students For Justice In Palestine. Mr. Roth said that this event was one of his more successful talks because he was able to address the issues of the ‘other side’ in a manner that was educational for those who were less educated.May 22, 2012Pastors’ and Ministry Leaders’ Luncheon Meeti ng Chicago, IL

CUFI’s Pastors and Ministry Leaders’ Luncheon, held at the Marriott Midway Hotel, was a ground breaking success and much needed accomplishment for the Chicagoland region, an

area of the country that CUFI has been desiring to establish Christian pro-Israel advocacy. Deacon Arreck Stewart of Jesse’s House of Prayer International Church was diligently instrumental in organizing local pastors and leaders for this luncheon. Along with Apostle Person and Pastor Corey Person, Stewart impressively hosted this event with hospitality and warmth. Guided by CUFI’s African-American Outreach Coordinator, Pastor Michael A. Stevens, the luncheon covered many biblical, historical and contemporary reasons why Christians today are standing with the State of Israel. Participants celebrated their passion for standing with Israel and the Jewish community with full agreement and solidarity. Charles from Chicago who attended the event shared, “I was thrilled to be able to join with a group of African-Americans in support of Israel.”May 22, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventCorona, CA

Just two days after their Christians United for Israel Sunday teaching, Temescal Canyon Tabernacle had nearly 200 people from throughout the Inland Empire attend a CUFI

Standing with Israel presentation with Western Regional Coordinator, Randy Neal. Many had driven hours in Southern California’s infamous trafic to learn more about Israel and how to tangibly stand with her. Nancy from Anaheim, CA attended the event and shared, “I was elated, encouraged, and thrilled to hear that a single letter DOES make a difference to our representatives. Wow! Words really can’t express what took place in Cincinnati, Ohio at the New Unity Baptist Church led by Pastor Mark A. Toney. An excitement and extreme joy was demonstrated

from this historically African-American Baptist church as they demonstrated their true commitment and complete stand with Israel. Pastor Michael A. Stevens, CUFI’s African-American Outreach Coordinator, expressed, “They simply get it…they fully understand the purpose of supporting Israel and the Jewish people!”Stevens continued, “It is often said that Christians United for Israel has a habit of seeing Israel uniting Christians… that’s exactly what’s happened here in Cincinnati.” The evening’s event was illed with rich pageantry and tradition in the African-American church with devotional singing and celebration. Afterwards, Pastor Stevens covered many biblical, historical and contemporary reasons why Christians today are standing with the State of Israel. On a very special and moving note, the church’s senior pastors for over 32 years boldly expressed and faithfully demonstrated a love for Israel… all without ever having the joy of traveling to the Holy Land. He commented that he has had numerous unsuccessful attempts due to both personal and church inances. When Pastor Stevens offered him the possibilities of going to Israel for the very irst time on a familiarization trip in December, both the Pastor and church went into complete hysteria and tearful praise of excitement and appreciation—so much that people began giving $100 bills to help the pastor raise his personal investment until all $500 was raised! The pastor shouted and cried with overwhelming joy and amazement at God fulilling his word over the pastor’s life and ministry. Again, words can’t really express what took place in Cincinnati!May 26, 2012Pastors’ and Ministry Leaders’ Luncheon Meeti ng Alexandria, VA

Several hundred people gathered in the sanctuary at The Assembly in West Monroe, Louisiana in the early evening at the CUFI Standing With Israel event. It was the 68th

anniversary of D-Day in Normandy, France. It was the beginning of the end of the German army, but the revelations of the horrendous Holocaust were still unknown. The topic of the Stand With Israel event was the fact that our President at the time was well aware of the genocide going on behind enemy lines, but refused to alter tactics to confront it. How much of a role did anti-Semitism play in those 1940 decisions? Is there a parallel to the situation today regarding the threats emanating from Iran and those made by Hitler? Is “such a time as this” (2012) really relevant to 1938 or even 1944? Will (or do we dare) learn from History?June 7, 2012Pastors’ and Ministry Leaders’ Luncheon Meeti ng Ontario, CA

Pastors from the greater Ontario, California area gathered for a CUFI luncheon. They arrived as strangers, quickly connected with like-hearted peers and stayed long after as

discussion turned to planning the irst Night To Honor Israel in the Inland Empire. The CUFI Pastors’ Luncheon held at The Assembly in West Monroe, Louisiana was the irst event for ministry leaders in the northern part of the great Pelican State. Pastor Shane

Warren (seated center) graciously hosted the luncheon. The rich ethnic heritage of Louisiana as relected in the Creole, Cajun and French backgrounds of the participants made it one of the most friendly and hospitable places in the entire country and this luncheon was no exception. The topic presented to the assembled leaders was the Biblical basis for how God judges

nations. The importance of this year’s US election was on everyone’s mind and there was considerable interest generated about attending the Washington, D.C. Summit July 16 - 18. Louisiana is on the move and is taking the lead in passing a state resolution urging the President and his administration to unwaveringly support to defend Israel. Israel Roundup. CUFI Central Regional Coordinator, John and Mary Somerville hosted these “Lovers of Israel,” most of whom had traveled to Israel with the Somervilles during the past two decades. This roundup and reunion was the irst introduction to CUFI for many of the attendees. As usual, during this lead up to a national election there were many questions regarding the relationship between the US and Israel. The importance of the solidarity of the two countries was relected in the dozens of paired lags on the property. The potluck meal was followed by a presentation stressing the purposes and goals of CUFI. Numerous folks brought along their holy land photos and shared memories of “the best trip they had ever taken.” Several testiied that their time in Israel was truly a life-changing event. Tom Price, R-Roswell, and Sanford Bishop, D-Albany, and Mayor Teresa Tomlinson. The evening exploded with music and singing from a huge attendance of people that came from different churches throughout the area. An offering was received to further the work of CUFI on Campus with David Walker, CUFI Campus Field Organizer giving a

passionate appeal to support our Christian students on the “front lines” of the delegitimization of the nation of Israel.June 12, 2012CUFI Night to Honor IsraelLas Vegas, NV

Hundreds representing 10 churches and six synagogues in the greater Las Vegas area braved triple digit temperatures to attend the third annual Night To Honor Israel in the Silver

Mr. Dave Wheland of Lapeer, Michigan has been a longtime faithful supporter of CUFI. Dave has organized several events during the past three years in the Lapeer area. At this Standing

With Israel event, there was a nice gathering of lovers of Israel at the Hillside Discipleship Church. The subject for the evening was “The Wonderful Things that can happen when Christians bless Abraham’s descendants.” Particularly, it was the story of President Harry Truman and his longtime friendship with Eddie Jacobson, his Jewish friend from Kansas City. Harry and Eddie irst became friends in World War 1 maintaining their friendship through good times and bad. It was Eddie who opened the door for President Truman to meet with the leader of the World Zionist Organization, Chaim Weizmann. It was that short meeting (arranged by Eddie) that changed Truman’s heart and he soon recognized the state of Israel and Isaiah 66:8 became a reality. “Can a nation be born in a day…no sooner is Zion in labor than she gives birth to her children.”June 14, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventToledo, OH

The beautiful sanctuary of the Calvary Bible Church in Toledo, Ohio was the site of this Stand With Israel event. All the work in setting up the meetings in Toledo was handled by two wonderful

OVERVIEW OF CUFI’S SUMMER EVENTSJune 15, 2012Pastors’ and Ministry Leaders’ Luncheon Meeti ng Youngstown, OH

Ed and Pat Douglas and Elizabeth Hartley were the key organizers in northeastern Ohio who have set up many stand With Israel meetings and pastors’ brunches. This most

recent brunch was in Youngstown, Ohio and was hosted by Pastor Juan Rivera of New Life Church. There were approximately 45 ministry leaders in attendance. The main topic of concern was the wrong direction many of them sensed that our administration was taking our country in its relationship with the state of Israel. It was quite a diverse gathering of pastors representing countries as widely disbursed as New Zealand and Israel. June 15, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventSeatt le, WA

Victory Christian Center of Austin, Texas pastored by Lee and Sue Boss, is a large and dynamic church strategically located at a major crossroads in the capital of Texas. The

multitude of ministries and outreaches in a church like this often makes it dificult for a ministry like CUFI to be welcomed in to an already “full” calendar of events. However, it has been a very different story at Victory Christian Center. Pastors Lee and Sue have often on short notice graciously opened their facilities to CUFI and the message of support for Israel. But typically these connections don’t start with a “cold-contact” phone call. They are most often initiated by a local believer whose dedication to the cause of Israel and their godly reputation gives them an audience with the pastoral leader. In the case of Austin, Texas it has been the faithful

commitment of Mrs. Rita Adams and her longstanding activism for Israel that has time and again opened the doors for CUFI. She has taken on the role of the CUFI City Director, even though she heads up a myriad of other business and ministry outreaches across the world. How thankful we are for such partners and how we realize and are awed by their efforts and are constantly reminded to remember them in our prayers.June 22, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventLewisville, TX

On a very hot summer night in Lewisville Texas, the youth group of Ministerios La llama Encendida got together to learn about the importance of blessing Israel. The young crowd danced

and sang songs about Israel while Pastor Maria Salazar encouraged them to shout and dance in honor of Israel. The event was organized by Pastor Jorge Gonzalez, Texas CUFI Hispanic State Director and Pastor Maria Salazar who told the energetic crowd “Our new Generations must learn to protect the nation of God.” CUFI National Hispanic Outreach Coordinator, Pastor Carlos Ortiz was the keynote speaker.June 22, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel Event Fort Worth, TX

The CUFI Standing With Israel event in Fort Worth, Texas was a very successful and noteworthy meeting. Pastor Frank Briggs and Elder Vicki Davis were very instrumental in the planning of

the event. The evening began with an opening prayer and introduction of the guest speaker, CUFI African-American Coordinator, Pastor Michael A. Stevens by Vickie. Afterwards, Pastor Michael gave a very inspiring speech on the importance of praying and standing with the State of Israel. A very thorough keynote presentation accompanied the lecture emphasizing the main talking points. Approximately 30 attendees enjoyed the hour-long presentation followed by a brief time of questions and answers. Invitations were made to attend the 2012 Washington, D.C. summit as well as other CUFI events in the area for the near future. CUFI pledge cards and offerings were also collected.June 22, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel Event Dublin, TX

Pastor Harold Roan of the Community Baptist Church of Dublin, Texas graciously hosted a Stand With Israel meeting at his church. As a member of the Dublin Ministerial Association

he wholeheartedly volunteered the use of the Baptist church sanctuary and the fellowship hall for the event. The photo shows some of the early arriving local Dubliners (or Dublinites) who attended that evening. Dublin, a unique and welcoming town in the heartland of Texas that is typical of so many communities across this nation which may seem isolated (on the map), but are extremely well informed about national and world-wide events. This was relected by the

insights and questions which so many of the participants brought up during the discussion part of the meeting. The events in Dublin have been initiated by a great friend of CUFI and Israel, Mr. Bill Kloster. Bill runs the world famous Dublin Bottling Works, which is the home of the world’s oldest Dr. Pepper plant. Bill and his family have spearheaded numerous community events for decades, but his love and concern for Israel is well known across the area. It is dedicated Christians like Bill and his wife Janis, who are so well respected in their communities that make these events possible and open the doors for CUFI. Our eternal gratitude goes out to them and so many other folks all across this great heartland and we are so blessed to be a part of. June 23, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel Event Weatherford, TX

CUFI’s Cowboy Church Coordinator Dr. David Simmons introduced John Somerville in the second event held in Weatherford, Texas. The location for the Saturday night and

Sunday morning presentations was the Silverado Cowboy Church, just one of the 12 cowboy churches established by Pastor David and Kathleen Simmons in their years of dedicated work in the Lord’s vineyard. What a joy and an honor it is to partner with ministries like this who realize the vital importance it is, especially at a time such as this, to awaken the church to understand and move in the support of Israel. The wonderful response from those in attendance reiterated the dismay and trepidation that so many feel about the direction our national leadership has taken in weakening our ties with Israel. The prayers and concern of so many are that we Christians must wake up, and speak up, and not shut up regarding the Biblical mandate to stand with Israel every day and especially during this upcoming election. Following the meetings in Weatherford, David and John were interviewed on God’s Learning Channel (GLC) by Al and Tommie Cooper for two one-hour segments on “Light of the Southwest” about the relationship between the Church and Israel. June 24, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel Event Diamond Springs, CA

Pastor Don Prichard, Senior Pastor of Solid Rock Faith Center in Diamond Springs, hosted the area’s irst CUFI Standing With Israel event. Pastor Pritchard gave an inspiring challenge for

attendees to tangibly do more to impact the US-Israel relationship and engage our political process. By the end of the event a number of attendees, including Pastor Pritchard, committed to attend CUFI’s seventh annual Washington, D.C. Summit and CUFI’s California Pastors’ Israel trip in January.June 24, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel Event Londonderry, NH

Summit! We look forward to a long and fruitful partnership with Pastor Mike and North Ridge Church.June 24, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel Event Garland, TX

The morning church service was not a regular Sunday service at Iglesia Ebenezer in Garland, as the entire church demonstrated their love and support for Israel. The event was very emotional as

the congregants shouted every time the name of Israel was mentioned. Senior Pastor Ismael Pineda was the organizer of the event and emphatically expressed to his congregation of his love and passion for Israel pointing at the lags that adorned the church and telling the congregation why the Israel lag was the irst lag of any nation. Pastor Carlos Ortiz CUFI National Hispanic Coordinator was the keynote speaker and told the crowd the importance of blessing and supporting the Jewish State.June 25, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel Event Midland, TX

Pictured here are just three of the hard working and talented people of Midland, Texas who labored so diligently in putting together the Stand With Israel/Iranium evening in the exquisite

Midland Convention Center. From left to right they are Kathryn Fuller, Pastor Jana Jobe and Linda Garcia. Ms. Fuller arranged for the printing and framing of 40 posters detailing the history of the Holocaust into a stunning educational display situated along an entire wall of the convention center. Pastor Jobe coordinated and oversaw the entire event and along with Kathryn did an amazing job of public relations throughout the area in promoting the event. Mrs. Garcia highlighted the evening with her singing and song selection which truly touched the hearts of all in attendance. Their love and tireless efforts on behalf of the Biblical mandate to be a blessing to Abraham’s descendants was truly a work of love. Their efforts remind us of Galatians 6:9 “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” They are an inspiration to all who know them and are indicative of so many afiliated with CUFI all across this country.June 26, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel Event Honolulu, HI

Over 200 people from over a dozen churches attended CUFI’s second “Standing with Israel” event at Kings Chapel in Honolulu, Hawaii. The event was hosted by CUFI Hawaii State

Director, Dr. James Maracco, and was one of three CUFI meetings on the islands. As was the case also on Maui and Kauai, requests were made for additional in-depth teachings on Israel and the

Middle East, and involvement with CUFI On CampusJune 26, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel Event Fresno, CA

Over 100 Fresnans gathered for an elegant luncheon hosted by the Fresno County Republican Women. The enthusiastic and well-informed crowd heard CUFI Central Regional

Coordinator, Colonel John Somerville, explain the moral, political and Biblical reasons for the necessity of standing strong with Israel. The statement concluding the presentation that, “Israel is the most stable, predictable, reliable, capable, democratic and unconditional ally of the United States,” elicited a spontaneous standing ovation. The readiness to listen and to take action was truly remarkable and inspiring, in this the most important election year in our country’s history. June 27, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventKahului, HI

Nearly 400 people from at least a dozen churches and two synagogues attended a CUFI Standing With Israel meeting at King’s Cathedral Assembly of God on the island of Maui in

Hawaii. The event was one of three hosted by CUFI Hawaii State Director Dr. James Marocco with presentations by CUFI Western Regional Coordinator Randy Neal. The evening marked the irst occasion a local rabbi had ever entered a church, remarking that he was encouraged by what he had heard.June 27, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventConroe, TX

Pastor Lloyd Maddoux of the Conroe Texas First Assembly of God Church is shown here welcoming the wonderful turnout for the irst Stand With Israel meeting held in their

beautiful sanctuary. Pastor Maddoux has long taught the Biblical Mandate in God’s Word that Christians are to bless and be supportive of Israel. The subject covered in the evening’s meeting was how God worked through national leaders when the opportunity arose in their administrations to either be a blessing or a course to Israel and the Jewish people. Modern presidents such as Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Johnson, Nixon and Carter were cited as examples of critical decisions they made about Israel and the outcomes for the nation.June 28, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel Event Eleele, HI

CUFI’s second Standing With Israel event on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai drew attendees from around the Island. The meeting was held at King’s Chapel by Pastor Steve Franks,

who was delighted to see the largest gathering the church had ever hosted. By the end of the evening, the number of Hawaiian delegates

committed to attend the CUFI D.C. Summit grew to the largest ever. An elderly gentleman with tears in his eyes thanked CUFI Western Regional Coordinator, Randy Neal, and stated “I’m Jewish, and if someone had told me as a young man that I would see and hear this I would not have believed it.”July 5, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel EventSanta Ana, CA

It was a historic day for Santa Ana as we celebrated our irst Standing With Israel event in this city. An enthusiastic group of Hispanic Israel supporters from all over Orange County

Pastor Diaz reminded the crowd of the importance of standing with Israel and urged the congregation to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Other important guest and speakers included Pastor Jose Aquino, Hispanic State Director, and Pastor Raynaldo Aquino, City Director for Inglewood CA, and CUFI on Campus Hispanic Coordinator for Los Angeles who will be taking a group of 25 college students from Los Angeles area to the Washington DC Summit on July 14. Pastor Carlos Ortiz was the keynote Speaker.July 7, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel Event Los Angeles, CA

It was a beautiful day in Los Angeles as group of young Hispanic Israel supporters gathered for a CUFI Español SWI event hosted by Iglesia Nueva Esperanza. The event was full of

great music and dancing. A memorable moment was when a 13 year old boy played the shofar for the congregation. Pastor Edgar Herincx told the attendees, “According to Genesis 12:3, we must bless Israel to receive God’s blessings.” Pastor Jose Aquino, State Director, was the guest speaker and CUFI National Hispanic Coordinator, Pastor Carlos Ortiz, was the keynote speakerJuly 8, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel Event Los Angeles, CA

On Sunday July 8, CUFI Español celebrated an amazing event in Los Angeles hosted by Iglesia Sendero de la Cruz. Pastor Pablo Duque organized the event that had an emotional moment when

CUFI Pastors and Ministry Leaders’ Luncheon held at Bethel Christian Fellowship in Washington, D.C. was an overwhelming success and much needed accomplishment

for the Washington, D.C. area, an area of the country that CUFI has been desiring to establish greater Christian pro-Israel advocacy. Pastor Ronald Miles (one of CUFI’s December Familiarization 2011 Trip to Israel pastors) diligently served by organizing local pastors and leaders for this luncheon in our nation’s capital. With an impressive inlux of last minute RSVPs, over 35 pastors and ministry leaders illed the church sanctuary, all excited about being a part of CUFI’s growth in the D.C. area. Keynote Speaker CUFI African-American Outreach Coordinator, Pastor Michael A. Stevens, covered many biblical, historical and contemporary reasons why Christians today are standing with the State of Israel. A Keynote presentation was shown during the event highlighting key talking points of supporting Israel. Participants celebrated their passion for standing with Israel and the Jewish community with full agreement and solidarity. All participants were encouraged to ill out a CUFI pledge card as well as give an offering for CUFI. Several participants from the luncheon attended the Washington, D.C. Summit one week later—all because of the much needed information and understanding with supporting Israel. July 15, 2012Pastors’ and Ministry Leaders’ Luncheon Meeti ng East St. Louis, IL

A second CUFI Pastors and Leaders’ Luncheon was held in the St. Louis, MO area at The Greater New Covenant Church of God in Christ (COGIC). Host pastor, Rodney Douglas, Israel

2013 Familiarization Trip Pastor, generously welcomed and accommodated the many guests from far and near. This follow-up event held in East St. Louis, IL, was most signiicant and successful! Approximately ifty Church of God in

Christ leaders--Bishops, Senior Pastors and executive church ministers illed the fellowship hall of the church to hear continued important information about the unique and unprecedented relationship between Israel and the African-American community. A very passionate and motivating speech was given on why Israel and the Jewish community must be fully supported by the Christian African-American church. Because of the great familiarity between Pastor Stevens and his denominational colleagues, the event wonderfully turned into very passionate driven presentation where valuable connection was achieved. Many pastors easily identiied with Pastor Stevens as the pro-Israel story resonated with them and their Biblical understanding and background. As with the irst event held this past March, the pastors and leaders expressed an extreme gratefulness and appreciation for the “connection” made when hearing the personal testimony of the CUFI African-American Outreach Coordinator, Pastor Michael A. Stevens, and his love for Israel and the Jewish people.July 23, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel Event Melbourne, FL

Fifty leaders from the Jewish and Christian community of Melbourne, FL attended the July CUFI Pastor/Leader’s Luncheon and Middle East update in preparation for the August 5th

Night to Honor Israel in the city. The excitement in the room continued well after the presentation by CUFI’s Eastern Regional Coordinator, Pastor Victor Styrsky, was inished. This year’s Night to Honor Israel is expected to be a sold out event! July 26, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel Event Jurupa Valley, CA

The sanctuary at Calvary Chapel Jurupa Valley in California’s Inland Empire was packed as people from across the region came to learn about Israel and stand in solidarity with the

Jewish State. The church has long taught its members to love and bless the Jewish people and nation, and CUFI’s “Myths and Facts” presentation by Western Regional Coordinator, Randy Neal, equipped them with the information they needed to be able to confront false charges against Israel. The evening ended with requests to hold similar meetings regularly throughout the year.July 28, 2012CUFI Standing With Israel Event Pasadena, TX

This Standing With Israel event marked a new beginning for Pasadena and for Iglesia Emanuel Casa de Oracion. Dancing, singing and the blowing of shofars made this

night an incredible display of support and love for the nation of Israel. Adults, as well as young people in attendance, danced and rejoiced with Hebrew songs for more than an hour. The event was well attended by local pastors and local leaders such as Pastor Corina Zuniga, Pasadena City Director for CUFI.

As Christians United for Israel hosted their annual 2012 Summit in Washington, D.C., supporters of Israel came from every corner of the nation to present one message loud and clear. “Israel, you are not alone!” From July 16-18, the conference rooms and banquet halls at the Walter E. Washington D.C. Convention Center were illed with people who were not afraid to boldly stand for their convictions supporting the Bible mandate to support Israel. Genesis 12:3 says, “I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”Michele Bachmann was the keynote speaker. Bachmann was elected in 2006 to Minnesota’s 6th Congressional District and has been serving there ever since as the irst Republican woman to be elected to the U.S. House from Minnesota. She boldly stands up for her pro-life beliefs and has served as a foster parent for more than 20 children. Bachmann is not afraid to put her words into action, and her strong message of how our government should show their support for Israel was encouraging to all in attendance!Pastor Hagee and many of the other delegates were very poignant in their messages. Jerusalem has always been the capital of Israel, and Iran must stop their nuclear production. Pastor Hagee visited with many of the senators on Capitol Hill and relayed the same message…America must support Israel, and support her now!
