Page 2: Dear Fellow Motorcyclists,

Dear Fellow Motorcyclists,

I’ve been serving and representing the motorcycling communityfor 30 years. And by representing, I mean not only on the stand, but on the streets. If you’re like me, riding isn’t just a weekendthing, it’s a lifestyle. And throughout the riding season, there’ssomething going on nearly every single day. I’m pleased to presentthis special events calender. The Northeast and Mid-Atlanticmotorcycle community is an ever-growing one, and I feel thiscalender is a great way to give something back.

The Haymond Law Firm has grown to be one of the largest personalinjury law firms in the region. We believe our growth is due to thesuccessful results we’ve attained for our clients. And that includesmeeting the needs of the motorcyclists that seek out our experience. We defend your rights as an individual, even taking care of theproperty damage to your bike and accessories as no cost to you.We understand what’s important to you.

If you’ve ever been injured in an accident, we will use all of ourpower, experience and resources to get you all the money youdeserve. That’s my promise.I look forward to seeing you on the road this season.

John Haymond,rider and attorney.

Page 21: Dear Fellow Motorcyclists,

Inspect Your BikeHow many of us inspect our bikes before we head out on a ride? When’s

the last time you checked your tire pressure? Your chains or belts? The truth is,none of us do it enough. We know we’re supposed to follow a checklist beforeeach ride, but the reality is that few of us actively and regularly perform thesetasks. Even if you’re going out for a short ride, a quick inspection can make thedifference between a great ride, and one plagued with problems.A couple of years ago, I took out my V-Twin without giving it the once over. I wasracing the sun and I just wanted to ride. As soon as I leaned into a turn, though, Ifelt the rear end side out. Thinking it was just a patch of sand, I kept going. Thenext turn went from a slide to a shimmy, and that immediately got my attention. After pulling over, I could immediately see that my rear tire was low – somethingthat could have ended in disaster. Many of us have had a near misses, the cause of which was a problem that couldhave been caught had we spent a couple of minutes inspecting our bike beforeheading out. And really, there’s no excuse why every time we head out for a ride,we can’t always perform the following tasks:

1) Check the air pressure in your tiresand check your wheels for cracks, dents, or anything out of the ordinary2) Make sure your headlamp, taillamp, turn signals, and brake lamp allwork correctly3) Check your engine oil, nothing willput an end to a good ride faster thanan oil leak4) Make sure your chain or belt istight and not showing any signs of wear5) Look under the bike and makesure there are no leaking fluids; ifthere is fluid, don’t leave until you’vefixed the problem6) Make sure your brakes workBEFORE you get the bike out of thedriveway

Although I had to ride on the side of the road to next service station, I waslucky that nothing serious happened. However, I’d gotten a firm reminder thatperforming regularly scheduled maintenance on your machine and always doing aquick pre-ride inspection can help you stay safe on the road.

Charlie was enjoying one of his favorite windy roads on his new machine.Only three months old and less than 300 miles on it he had barely startedto break it in. To say he was cautious would be an understatement. However, It wouldn’t make a difference when, after taking a left turn,Charlie was rear ended by a driver, who, upon investigation, was negligenton many levels.

The almost brand new bike wastotaled and Charlie spent threeweeks in the hospital recoveringfrom his fractured leg and ligamentdamage in his left wrist. Althoughthere was a temptation to try andsettle with the other driver’sinsurance company himself, Themotorcyclist would call TheHaymond Law Firm.

Attorneys at the firm wasted no time looking into the facts of the case infront of them. The accident examination would show that the driver wasfollowing too closely, Operating a cell phone, failed to signal, speedingand had failed to stop for the yellow light that had turned red. In factwitnesses stated that the car had accelerated through the left turn in whatthey believed was an attempt to beat the red light.

These facts spearheaded an exceptionally strong case where HaymondLaw Firm lawyers would point out to the car’s insurance company thatthe courts could consider the number of negligent facts that contribute tothe cause of the crash and raise the size of the judgment accordingly. A$450,000 settlement would be reached soon afterwards making for anothersatisfied client.

67 year old Dominic was taking his weekly Sunday ride with his twoclose friends. He and his companions had ridden this road almostevery week since they had left the Army and knew every turn andtwist on the old country route. Today, However. the routine journeywould be shattered as a woman suddenly pulled out from a parkinglot on his left right in front of him. His friend jumped into action andgot him stabilized and into the ambulance and fortunately he survivedbut suffered a variety of orthopedic injuries that required extensivecare.

As the bills started to pile up, things got worse when the woman’sinsurance company claimed that he was at fault for the collision. That’swhen he called the Haymond Law Firm. Attorneys and investigatorsfor the firm interviewed eye witnesses and studied accident photos.Through their hard work and diligence, they were able to prove thatthe motorcyclist was in no way atfault. It was, instead, the operatorof the automobile that was solelyto blame. After seeing the caseprepared by the Haymond LawFirm, The Insurance companywould resolve the claim for$350,000.

Tony’s motorcycle ride to work each morning gave him the freedom, the breeze and the thrill to set him up for the rest of the day. The roadsin Worcester County in Massachusetts are known for great countryriding. Tony followed his usual course through a neighborhood and ashe came around a bend, he was confronted by a pickup truck pullinga commercial trailer. It crossed both lanes of travel. Therewas no way to avoid the crash. Ending up in the hospitalthat day was not part of Tony’s plan, but there he was,in a hospital bed.

Tony knew that there was a blind corner, and heknew that there was a driveway at its apex. Whathe couldn’t understand was why insurancecompany for the pickup and trailer was holdinghim at fault. They claimed he was speeding andthe accident could’ve been avoided. The situationlooked hopeless as the insurance company saidTony was the cause of the accident. That’s whenTony called Haymond Law Firm.

The Haymond Law Firm went to work for Tony.Persistence led to a town ordinance that barredcommercial trailers from residential properties. Inthis rural area, the law made sense. The HaymondLaw Firm successfully argued that the law was thereto prevent collisions like Tony’s. If this pickupdriver did not keep the trailer on his property, if hehad only followed the law, no accident would haveoccurred. Tony was fairly compensated $200,000!Tony received the justice he deserved. Thanks to The HaymondLaw Firm!

Country Road Leads to Haymond LawFirm.

The stress felt by Jim had long since melted off. The heat of the day wasperfectly tempered by the wind in his face as he rode his motorcycle down thecurvy country route. However, for the past five miles Jim was riding behind abig dump truck. While the truck was driving the speed limit, the obstruction ofview was taking away from the enjoyment of the ride. Eventually the truckwould slow, signal right, and pull into a convenience store parking lot.

Jim waited for the truck to turn and continued straight down the road whenanother pickup truck entered into his lane, hit his motorcycle, and knockedJim to the ground. Jim suffered severe injuries to his leg. Adding insult toinjury the pickup driver’s insurance company said they had witnesses claimingJim has passed the dump truck illegally, which they said was stopped, andhad caused the crash himself. They refused to pay. That’s when Jim’s wifecalled the Haymond Law Firm.

Attorneys for the Haymond LawFirm quickly got on the case andwere able to procure the videofootage from the convenience storecameras. While the video was notconclusive, it offered enough proofthat the insurance company, throughmediation, reversed their positionand paid the Haymond Law Firm’sclient more than a million dollars.

AVOIDING FATIGUEWe all get tired. Whether from lack of sleep, a unexpectedly long ride ordifficult road conditions, it’s not unusual for our backs to ache, our arms totire and our concentration to lapse. Experts tell us that nearly 20% of all autoaccidents can be blamed on fatigue; not surprisingly, that number goes upwhen it applies to motorcycle accidents.

Below find some tips in dealing with that feeling of lethargy that we’ve all dealtwith on one ride or another.

-Schedule your longer rides. Our bodies function on a 12 hour cycle. It’swhy we’re usually deep asleep at 3:00am and feel like a nap at 3:00pm. Trynot to plan the mid-way point of your ride in the middle of the afternoon andconsider an early dinner.

-Cover your body. T-Shirts and open face helmets seem to make sense on ahumid day, but continued exposure to the sun and the wind can actually bemore damaging and exhausting than vented leathers and a visor.

-Cover your ears. Wind and exhaust noise can be pleasant enough on a shorttrip, but if you’re on the road for an hour to two (or three), they can reallystart to burn you out. If your helmet doesn’t cover your ears, consider onethat does to swap out for longer rides. And it always a good idea to keep afew pairs of earplugs on hand,.

-And cover your eyes. Eye strain contributes to fatigue more than almost anyother factor. If your helmet is visor-less, then you need a good pair of UV

protecting motorcycle glasses. And often overlooked is the opticalquality of your windshield; if thereare any imperfections in the plexi, either in the form of dings andcracks, or streaks, haziness ordistortion, they can contribute tofatigue, eye pain, headache anddouble vision.
