Dear Parents, Coaches, and Players: On behalf of Merritt Island Little League, I'm thrilled to welcome you to our 2007 spring base-ball season. Opening day is truly a memorable, magical event for all involved. Our community is filled with renewed enthusiasm, with little league baseball on the horizon. The appealing vision of a little league baseball diamond, accompanied by our precious children, brings joy and prom-ise. Smiles seem to be wide and contagious, as players are interacting, socializing, and growing together within our community through the great game of baseball. Players are grasping and learning fundamentals, skills, along with ideals that will produce bright contributing citizens to society. I would like to take this opportunity to recognize and acknowledge the numerous contributors to Merritt Island Little League. First, our league is currently comprised of twenty Board Mem-bers. We are extremely fortunate to have many accomplished, unselfish, and motivated volun-teers dedicated to the children. We should be proud and respect their effort, commitment, and patience while working cooperatively throughout this tedious process. Once again, thank you very much to our Board of Directors! In addition, we would like to commend others who are actively involved, but are not members of the Board. Equally, they share our passion and vision toward a prospering league and fu-ture. I would like to extend my gratitude to our managers and coaches for their leadership. They continue to provide quality instruction while emphasizing lessons beyond the baseball dia-mond. Furthermore, Our Team Mom's supply needed structure and guidance through a nurtur-ing touch. Please be thankful and supportive of our volunteer umpires throughout the sea-son. These individuals give their time in a selfless manner. I would like to extend special regards to our community partners that support Merritt Island Little League. We appreciate your kind-ness and generosity! Lastly, I would like to thank the Brevard County Parks and Recreation De-partment for our beautiful facilities. As guests, please care and take pride in these wonderful parks. I'm excited and eagerly looking forward to a great season. Baseball is America's "past-time," and a huge part of our culture and Country's rich history. I sincerely hope this game lends am-ple opportunity for our children to unite and mature, while fostering respect for one an-other. Please embrace each child's effort, enthusiasm, and unique contributions they may offer as a teammate. Our players should be challenged within a peaceful and safe environ-ment. Please remember to support the commitment and work ethic that every child puts forth. As adults, leaders, we must strengthen the confidence and self-esteem of our future gen-eration. As life dictates, children will often struggle and encounter humbling experiences through healthy competition. As a result, we are building and preparing our youth for certain life experiences. Please be proud, and love the children for the immense joy they bring to our lives. I thank you very much for your consideration and support! I look forward to meeting and speaking with you, see you at the fields!
