PARKING!
Unfortunately, we have had a complaint from the staff at Firwood House with regards to our parents and children using their car park. They are very concerned that very young children are being allowed to run around in their car park, unsupervised. Their car park is private property therefore none of us should even be entering it. However, they are more concerned that a young child is going to get knocked down and seriously hurt. Therefore, please DO NOT allow your children to run around in the car park or surrounding areas the road becomes extremely busy at the start and the end of the school day, so please keep a really close eye on your children so that a tragic accident doesn’t happen. In addition to this, Firwood House staff say that parents are actually parking in their car park and the immediate area, blocking access. This could prove very serious if an ambulance is unable to get to one of their patients. Finally, the Firwood House staff have also sadly complained about the language being used by some of our parents. Please can we all show consideration to our community and act as good role models to our children. We have informed Firwood House staff that we would put their concerns out in our next newsletter and the date of it. We have asked them to give us any license plate numbers after the 1st July so that we can pass them on to the police for their action. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
DONATIONS PLEASE ODD BALLS OF WOOL
After School Club would welcome donations of odd balls of wool, no longer needed, for craft activities. If you are able to donate, please can you bring your wool to the school office who will pass on to the Staff members. With many thanks.
GREEK DAY YEAR 3
Last week the children at the Junior school enjoyed a whole day learning about Ancient Greece.
We started off the day with a whole school assembly, discussing modern day Greece. We also looked at the history of democracy.
The children then had the chance to visit different classrooms where they learnt about the history of Ancient Greece, and how its culture, inventions and people have influenced life today.
INFORMATION RE CATERPILLERS Please note we have put information on our website highlighting the risks posed by caterpillars belonging to the Oak Processionary Moth (OPM). There is a leaflet from East Sussex County Council and a leaflet from the Forestry Commission. Please remind your children not to touch these hairy caterpillars if they see one. You will see they feature tiny hairs containing a toxin, that can be blown about by the wind and on contact can cause itchy skin rashes, eye and throat irritations and, occasionally respiratory difficulties.
Thank you
