Explanations on D-U-N-S® Number:

What is D-U-N-S ® Number? The D-U-N-S® Number is a unique nine-digit identification sequence, which provides unique identifiers of single business entities, while linking corporate family structures. This D-U-N-S® Number is provided by an American company Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) which is the biggest worldwide in collecting information about companies in every country and in allocating a unique ID to each of them.

D&B links the D-U-N-S® Numbers of parents, subsidiaries, headquarters, and branches of more than 104 million corporate family members around the world. Used by the world's most influential standards-setting organizations, it is recognized, recommended and/or required by more than 50 global, industry and trade associations, including the United Nations, the U.S. Federal Government, the Australian Government and the European Commission.

Why is it required? All Paul Wurth Entities work with the same supplier database. Therefore we need to clearly identify each supplier and to avoid double entries which is easiest realized by a unique number just as D-U-N-S® number. This will definitely increase your scope of business with other Paul Wurth Entities around the world too.
