A A new opportunity for two groups to combine different media and share the Queanbeyan Art Gallery for two weeks is happening in September. ACT Textiles Arts Association is excited to be exhibiting at the Quean-

beyan Arts Society from 12 September to 2612 September to 26 September 2020September 2020.

The opening will be on Saturday 12 September with an afternoon tea (following COVID rules.) With the expectation of good weather in September and the open garden behind the gallery, there is ample space for people to pop in safely during the opening or the following two weeks. ACTTAA is a group of enthusiastic textile artists and hobbyists who join together to share creative endeavours through monthly meetings, skill-sharing days and workshops. Our exhibit will be eclectic and show the diversity of the group.

The theme for this year’s annual exhibition is Textiles with a Twist. Knitting, quilts, felted art works, wool works, beautiful garments, contemporary embroidery and mixed media with paper are all on display.

We will also be hosting our bazaar which sells beautiful hand crafted goods, perfect for anyone who likes hand made and who supports local artists. More on page 6.

TEXTILE ART TEXTILE ART

AACT Textile Arts Association is an active group of textile practitioners working

across a wide range of styles, techniques and media. It acknowledges that many textile enthusiasts do not limit themselves to one tech-nique and often create mixed media from diverse methods. Areas of interest include wearable art and jewellery, art quilting, embroidery, felting, millinery, book making and use of textile paints and pencils. The group of about 40 members run workshops and group activities where they share their knowledge or engage tutors to teach specialised techniques. ACTTAA holds an exhibition every second year and a wearable art fashion parade on the alternate year. These are accompanied by a rich and colourful textile bazaar where members sell their work at prices to suit all budgets.
