TEXTILE ART TEXTILE ART

AACT Textile Arts Association is an active group of textile practitioners working

across a wide range of styles, techniques and media. It acknowledges that many textile enthusiasts do not limit themselves to one tech-nique and often create mixed media from diverse methods. Areas of interest include wearable art and jewellery, art quilting, embroidery, felting, millinery, book making and use of textile paints and pencils. The group of about 40 members run workshops and group activities where they share their knowledge or engage tutors to teach specialised techniques. ACTTAA holds an exhibition every second year and a wearable art fashion parade on the alternate year. These are accompanied by a rich and colourful textile bazaar where members sell their work at prices to suit all budgets.

TTHE QAS Committee has been ‘throwing the idea around’ for a number of

years to have an artist sculpture in the garden at the Gallery. Such an art landmark would give the area and gallery a much needed lift in Trinculo Place Queanbeyan. We all have trouble describing the directions to the QAS Gallery and such ‘a Artist' hopefully would tell it all and give a lead into one of the versatile art galleries in the region.
