NY Passenger List: Christor Stergios born 1891 in Argos, Greece arrived in New York (able to read & write) on 4/20/1912 on a ship named the “Macedonia.” The Macedonia was in service from 1912-1932. Its maiden voyage was on 4/5/1912, so Chris Stergios was on the ship on one of its very first voyages. The ship was sunk as a merchant ship in Syra harbor during war with Turkey & was refloated/sold to Dutch in 1916, sold again in 1921, & dismantled in 1932.

1920 Census: Marie Stergios born in 1912 in Illinois is listed as a step-daughter (along with two other step-daughters Anna Stergios born in 1911 & Loretta Stergios born in 1914. The head of the household is listed as Thomas Christos born 1887 in Greece. Thomas’ parents were both born in Greece too. Also listed is Thomas’ wife Mary G. Christos born in Illinois in 1894, Harmon Utley (a lodger), & Mary OConnor (an aunt) born in Illinois in 1871. It says Mary OConnor’s parents were both born in Illinois as well.
