Lisa, was born and raised in San Antonio. In 1999, I moved to North Carolina. I married a United States Marine and was stationed at Cherry Point. For the past ten years, I have worked as a director and program coordinator for an elementary school in Havelock NC. I will be completing my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (birth-kindergarten) at the end of this month. I have a 3 yr old daughter, named Avery. I am so grateful to be a part of an awesome school. I look forward to an exciting school year.

problems. Students needed to determine a strategy for finding the number of varieties of the new GeoTune MP3 players available in Hippo’s Hip Hop Shop. GeoTune MP3 players are “available in 3 fabulous shapes: The Tripod, The

The Gift of Giving

What’s better than getting presents during this holiday season? Giving them. That’s exactly what 41 Stacey High School students did on December 15 when

they traveled to Kelly Elementary to participate in the 21st annual holiday celebration with kindergarten students from SAISD.

Kelly students submitted their wish lists to Mr. Poludniak and Ms.

Medellin-Keller in November and then Stacey students signed up to be their holiday buddies at Wednesday’s event. Stacey StuCo

President John Stackpoole commented, “ I have participated in this event all four years that I was in high school, and I always look

forward to it because it definitely puts me in the Christmas spirit.”

Christmas Around The World First grade students participated in Christmas Around the World activities this past week! Each teacher taught about how people in different countries celebrate Christmas. Mrs.

Allen discussed Holland, Ms. Henry taught about Germany, and Mrs. Isasmendi’s students learned about Christmas in Mexico.

Ms. McCaskill discussed Italy, while the students with Mrs. Rodgers learned about Christmas in the United States of America. Each day students rotated from one

classroom to the next with their own passport! At each stop, students made a craft pertaining to that country.

Students in Mrs. Allen’s room show their wooden shoes filled with toys, candies, and nuts like in Holland. Students from Ms. McCaskill’s room display their La Befana puppet, while gingerbread houses were the highlight of the country of Germany with Ms. Henry.

Besides rotating to each country, the first graders discussed Hanukkah and Kwanzaa with their own classes.

Student’s in Mr. Garcia’s level 2.2 SFA class presented book club reports. The boys and girls did a terrific job utilizing visual aids, and keeping their

classmates engaged with interesting details. After the reports were given presenters fielded questions from the peanut gallery!

Recycling Hints From: Save The Earth Team

Aluminum and metal objects: Most aluminum cans and other types of metal can be recycled. You should still clean them first, before you recycle them. Magnetic metals cannot be recycled. If your metal objects are covered with hazardous materials, please do not recycle them. You can actually cause physical harm to other people if you expose them to these hazardous materials. Plastic: You may not know this, but not all plastics are the same. In fact, there are many grades of plastics. For example, plastics with number 1 and 2 recycling symbols are high quality plastic and happen to be great candidates for recycling. Plastics that are marked with numbers from 3 to 8 are not good for recycling and should not be put in with your other materials to recycle. What happens if you mix the grades of plastic? Well, many low quality plastics could cause the high quality plastics to become contaminated, which is why you should sort them out before recycling.

FANTASY FOOTBALL 5th grade Fantasy Football is nearing the end. There are 3 weeks left in the season, but the remaining games will occur while students are on

winter break! The students will be picking their starting line-ups this week for the last 3 weekends of games. Upon returning from the holiday, classes will calculate all of the stats and have their final rankings. A

lot can happen over the break, especially when students can’t make adjustments over the holidays. It’s anyone’s game!! Official leaders

will be announced at the end of January as all stats must be verified.

The leaders are as follows:
