DECEMBER 10th
TRANSITION DAY TODAY
On Tuesday our Year 6 students attended their new Secondary Schools
as part of the State wide Government School Secondary Transition
Day. All the students came back with many exciting stories
about how much they’re looking forward to next year and the next chap-
ter of their lives. At the same time we welcomed our new Preps for
next year who attended school for their third transition day spending
time in their new classes, in the correct room and with their classroom
teacher for next year. That evening we held a 2016 Prep Parent session
at school with many attending to listen to the Julie Shepherd who spoke
about the importance of reading.
REPORTS & GRADE PLACEMENTS will be sent HOME NEXT
WEDNESDAY
Next Wednesday the children’s reports and their grade placement and
teacher details will be sent home to families. After reading all the re-
ports I have to congratulate ALL students for their wonderful attitude
to learning with many achieving wonderful ‘learning growth’ in different
areas of their schooling. Placements into classes for the new year are
always a challenging task undertaken by staff that is informed by both
parent and student feedback and we have ensured that every child will
have every opportunity for success and is in the environment that will
promote it. Thank you to our teaching staff for their many hours spent
formulating our new classes.
2016 STAFFING
After completing the recent appointments and discussions with each
staff member I can now confirm our staffing profile for 2016. We wel-
come a number of new staff as we continue to grow in size and they
come with experience and expertise that will benefit our school, commu-
nity and most importantly students.

PRINCIPAL’S NEWS
2016 SPECIALIST PROGRAMS
It is with excitement I announce the addition of Science to our highly successful specialist programs
next year. We needed a teacher, experienced in getting a program off the ground and one who can
successfully embed it into our schools teaching and learning program. I am delighted to announce
Greg Oswald will be our specialist Science teacher in 2016 and the program he will be using is
‘Primary Connections’. Science is a key initiative in the State Governments new Education State pro-
gram.
Colin Hartley will take over the Music Performing Arts program. Lauren Wite will continue teaching
Art to Grades 3-6 while Jen Smith will teach Art to all Prep to Grade 2 classes. Lauren White will
continue to coordinate our successful Reading Lab which operates across all grade levels. Cornelia
Tyrrell will teach German. PE will be predominately taught by Dale Goldsmith with both Greg Oswald
and Colin Hartley assisting with some classes.
2016 SCHOOL CAPTAINS
At last Fridays assembly I had the pleasure of announcing our 2016 School Captains – congratulations
to Chelsea Hillier and Zephyr Mitchell who were the successful candidates. I would like to
acknowledge all 24 x Grade 5 students who initially nominated for the Captain positions before the
shortlisting process. The quality of speeches made by prospective leaders was outstanding and
demonstrated how articulate the students are about behaviour and role modelling.
CAROLS NIGHT
A reminder to parents about our Carols event tonight - please bring picnic blankets and chairs as the
grass coverage at the end of the oval is not great! The children will be required to remain seated
with their grade for the duration of the event and we’d like parents to assist in that regard. Previ-
ously some children had left the assembly area after their Carol leaving a smaller crowd to appreci-
ate the efforts of the children singing towards the end of the night. Thankyou for your assistance!

LAST DAY OF TERM
A reminder to parents that the last school day for students is Friday 18th December and the dis-
missal time will be 1:30pm following a final assembly for the year which will commence at 12:50pm.
Could I ask parents to collect their children from inside the school grounds on this day rather than
meeting them at the car – given the early finish! School staff will be manning the two crossings
closet to the school to ensure people get across the road safely.
IMPORTANT DATES AHEAD
Thank you to all our staff for all their work at this busy time of the year.
