“Encounter with God, In Daily Living, Through the Sunday Scriptures” Scripture reflection with Fr. Tim
Tuesday, December 17, 9:30-11:00 am (chapel) + Pause + Reflect + Act +
*Our next meeting will be Tuesday, January 21, 2020*
1. The Author of Isaiah comforted the people by describing God not as harsh and judging, but as forgiving and willing to save. What are the ways you can imitate these qualities of God in your life? How can your actions help transform the people around you?
2. When in your life have you been blessed through embracing patience?
3. Why do you suppose John the Baptist questioned Jesus?
4. Jesus closes this passage by speaking of John the Baptist great-ness but adding that still greater are the least of those in the kingdom of Heaven. What do you suppose this means?
First Reading: Isaiah 35:1-6.10 God is the hope of his people who are crushed by misfortune. Second Reading: James 5:7-10 St. James urges us to be patient with one another, and patient regarding the Lord’s final coming. Gospel: Matthew 11:2-11 We see Jesus at work, and hear his words of praise for his im-prisoned cousin, John.

WISDOM FROM A SAGE
We are surrounded by information but are strangers to Wisdom
Wisdom are addicted to politics but indifferent to principle
We are driven by acquisition but contemptuous of sacrifice
We are fascinated by self-analysis, but numb to the needs of others.
We are pre-occupied with our bodies but careless with our souls.
We are attentive to gossip but deaf to the Word.
We love to talk religion but are fearful of sharing our faith.
For anyone seeking
Baptism • First Eucharist • Confirmation

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS NEWS

2019 after the 9 AM Mass for the intention of the parish as part of the Knights Family.
The Candle of Joy Color: Rose
This third candle is rose, symbolizing anticipation and rejoicing.
During the third week of Advent, we are filled with joy for the near
arrival of Jesus on Christmas Day.
OnLine Giving
We would like to take the opportunity, once again, to express our gratitude and appreciation to our Online Donors, here at Good
Shepherd Parish, for their generosity this past year. If you are not currently enrolled in our OnLine Giving Program (OLG), you
can learn more about it on the Parish website, or by contacting the parish OLG Administrator at [email protected]
(please use “OLG Administrator” as your ’subject’).
OLG is a convenient and secure means to provide your financial support to Good Shepherd. Whenever we experience bad weath-
er, travel or find ourselves in situations that prevent us from week-ly Mass, we know that our financial support continues, uninter-rupted. As we approach the end of the year, we want to remind donors to print out their annual financial donations for tax pur-
poses. (NOTE: only those financial donations made thru the OnLine Giving Program are recorded here and available to
be printed off).
May God continue to Bless our Parish Family this Advent and Christmas Season.

Gospel Reading (Matthew 11:2-11)
Jesus tells John the Baptist of the signs of the kingdom that are being worked through him and praises John as more than a prophet. Family Connection
It is easy to look at our world and become discouraged by the apparent absence of God and signs of God's salvation. Advent, however, is a sea-son of hope, in which we acknowledge that salvation is both mysteriously present, even in our world, and yet to be fulfilled.
Read together today's Gospel. Think about John's question to Jesus: Are you the One? Jesus does not answer directly, but points to the signs of the kingdom present in his midst.
Together as a family, look through the newspaper for signs of hope that God is at work in our world. Pray that the world will know God's salva-tion by praying together the Lord's Prayer. (Loyola Press)
Please join His Holiness, Pope Francis, who has chosen the following intention to be prayed for during the month of December.
Universal: That every country determine to take the necessary measures to make the future of the very young, espe-cially those who suffer, a priority.
