    Grow a Greener Community Become a Master ComposterInspire others and make a difference in your community. The annual Master Composter TrainingProgram is currently accepting applications from Alameda County residents for the 2008 Class.The Master Composter Program is a certificated, extensive compost course. Participants receivetraining in the art and science of basic and worm composting, soil health, and Bay Friendlygardening techniques. Participants use this knowledge to train others through a compostcommunity outreach project. All participants receive a compost bin and several composting andgardening books, including the East Bay Municipal Utility Districts Plants and Landscapes forSummer Climates of the SF Bay Region. Teachers who complete the program are eligible for a$200 stipend to use toward school garden and/or classroom compost activities.

    Classes will meet Tuesday nights weekly in Oakland from early February through mid-May2008, plus a Saturday field trip. The Program offers graduate level and continuing education

    credits from California State University at Hayward or credit from Merritt College LandscapeHorticulture Department. Master Composter training enhances the skills of community leaders,activists, educators, environmentalists, gardeners, and recyclers. We encourage people of allages, abilities, and ethnic groups to apply. If you have ideas and energy for community actions,this class is for you.

    Film: Life of Mammals, Volume 3: Monday, December 17, 2007This volume begins with "Return to the Water" featuring mammals with perfect streamlinedbodies and great underwater speed: seals, dolphins, porpoises, and whales became the newhunters of the sea. It then moves back on to land and documents "Life in the Trees:" a range ofadaptations from suction feet to gripping tails to ultra-keen senses help the tree-dwellingmammals to survive high above the ground.     Outdoor Youth Connection: Regional Coordinator

    OYC is a cutting edge program designed to connect youth with the outdoors while buildingfuture leaders ultimately resulting in positive change and impacts on the community as awhole.     Build It Green: BookkeeperBuild It Green seeks a full-time Bookkeeper to manage all day-to-day accounting operations of arapidly expanding non-profit organization. The Bookkeeper will also perform month-end close-

    California Trout: Development DirectorCalifornia Trout is a 36-year-old environmental non-profit organization based in San Franciscoand dedicated to protecting and restoring wild trout and steelhead and their waters throughout

    California. Reporting to the Executive Director, The Development Director (DD) will beresponsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and expansion of CaliforniaTrouts fundraising program which is comprised of major donors, foundation and corporatefunding, special events, membership and planned giving. The DD will supervise two full-timestaff members, interns, and consultants. The DD will work closely with the Executive Director,Board of Governors, and Conservation Staff to integrate all elements of the organizationsfundraising functions to successfully meet annual revenue goals.
