GoJet already has a number of graduates working for them, one of which is Craig Markert who is currently a first officer for the airline. Captain Craig mentioned that his airline is targeting UCM students because he is impressed with the performance of each pilot he has seen from UCM’s aviation department. Students began to smile as each of them explained that their favorite part of GoJet is its culture. According to Craig “GoJet’s culture is much like a family.” An important part of the presentation was the upcoming pilot shortage. GoJet airlines’ proactive approach to this shortage is to streamline graduates from UCM’s flight department to fill their open positions and to help our students get jobs as soon as they meet the minimum requirements. Another important point that was covered is the importance of being on time. A student asked Captain Craig, “what are the typical things that cause new pilots to lose their jobs at GoJet.” Captain Craig responded by saying, “attendance and punctuality because GoJet is a regional airline that operates for United Express and has to pay for all flight costs out of its profits if departures are as much as one minute late. So, we cannot afford to have delayed flights caused by our own people. If a pilot is consistently late, they will be dealt with accordingly.” This harsh reality was grasped by students as it was suggested that they practice showing up to each of their classes early to prepare for the nature of airline attendance policies that they will soon be expected to meet. Monetti interviewed Fred Schieszer and also gave a few students the opportunity to be shown on T.V. as a representative of the aviation department. Schieszer and students were asked different questions to entirely portray the department to each viewer. While on set, students were given the opportunity to answer phone calls and accept donations for KMOS and future filming of “The Aviators.” The overall goal of sponsoring the show was to increase awareness of UCM’s aviation department and based on the feedback Monetti, Schieszer, and students got from the KMOS filming team; UCM will definitely see increased student numbers in the near future. The enthusiasm of each interviewee helped paint the perfect picture of the aviation department and how exciting it truly is to be a Flying Mule. The Ninety-Nines Incorporated’s Annual Dinner

The Ninety-Nines Incorporated, is an international organization that has been around

since the late 1920s to serve as an exceptional group of women pilots who stand

together in mutual support to advance themselves in the aviation industry. Founded by

legends such as Amelia Earhart and Louise Thaden, this organization has helped

numerous women reach their goals of becoming pilots and pursuing their careers as

aviators. Membership to the The Ninety-Nines is a selective and exclusive process to

female aviators who have achieved various ratings and goals. Each year this

organization's Kansas City Chapter hosts a holiday dinner. They have a fundraiser

where they auction off priceless aviation collector’s items, pictures, clothing, etc. to

raise money for the scholarships that are presented at the meetings. On Sunday,

December 2, 2012 Miyukiko Kostelny, a member of the Kansas City Chapter of The

Ninety-Nines, was honored with the KC Chapter's Annual Scholarship. Kostelny, also

known as Koko, is the current graduate assistant for UCM’s aviation department. She is very grateful for the support she has received

from the chapter, and is excited to have the scholarship to help her pursue further flight ratings and achievements. In addition, Fred

Schieszer, a highly respected professor in UCM’s aviation department, was this year's guest speaker at the holiday dinner. Fred presented

“The Seven Ways An Aircraft Can Come in Contact with the Ground.” It was a phenomenal presentation with added humor that taught

the different ways the NTSB identifies which type of crash each case they see is classified under.

Safety Tip Of The Month by Knolues Gibbs

"The end of the semester is near! We all know how stressful finals week can be, and it is under stress that aeronautical decision making

deteriorates. Ask yourself "Am I fit to fly today?" Do not let pride tell you yes if the answer is no. Good luck with finals and continue to

fly safely!"
