December meeting again had a good number of members on the night. It is great to see so many members at each meeting and it makes for a broader input to the running of the club. A number of topics were discussed as can be read in the minutes. As we have had our last fly day for the year with the Christmas break up held at our home site at Narracan, it is now time to look for away places for 2014. As we have done for some time now we will have a January fly weekend at Narracan on the Australia day weekend. As Australia day falls on a Saturday with (I am guessing) Monday being an extra day off we will let you know with an E-mail out at a later date. FCJ

A Fly day in mid January in Westernport Bay, Lang Lang jetty, is being organized by Colin Dainty, weather and tide permitting. Looking on the calendar it should be on Saturday 11th or Sunday 12th. Interested members should contact Colin for relevant information about time and meeting place. Having been flying there before it is a great day flying.

Thursday the 5th of December Colin and I had made arrangements to visit the Wingfan factory, and with an array of spare fans in the car, set out on a rather bleak and wet morning at 9.30 for our appointed time at 11 am at the factory in Geelong. On arrival at the factory we were welcomed by Ivan and Heiko who proceeded to give us a run down on fans and their application while enjoying a cup of coffee. We then proceeded to a tour of the factory complimented with a great explanation and a visual show of the equipment used to make precision balanced fans. Having each placed an order for a new fan we left the factory for some well earned bangers and mash at a small cafe at Geelong foreshore, while waiting for confirmation that our fans were ready for pick up. Getting back to the factory a bit early, we had the pleasure in being allowed to watch the final assembling and balancing of our new fans. Our sample fans we had bought along were measured for pitch accuracy and then also balanced for us. It was an extremely informative afternoon spent with Heiko and Ivan. Their service was second to none, and the club as a whole has been invited to use their facilities for a club meeting in the new year. I would strongly urge anybody in the club who are in need of a fan to contact Heiko or Ivan. 1) service and involvement on club level as we have seen. 2) Quality and price are first class.

Colin and I checking out for a new fan size

WHAT A GREAT WEEKEND After a slow start with confirmation of attendance, the weekend ended up with almost a crowd. Including children. 23 people sat down to a great meal organized to perfection by Tony Westwood with a little help from me with an extra Weber. Vicky and Joanne wrapping potatoes , Dave carving and last but not least Rachel the expert gravy maker. Arriving at about 10.30 I was greeted by Tony M, Glenn with wife Li and friends. Weather was perfect and as always ,the site was picture perfect thanks to the effort of Glenn, and I believe some help from Peter Shinn. Having unloaded the Fruit Tingle I was keen to test out my new fan. Having run a 9 blade fan in a 9 blade hub I have changed to 9 in 12 blade hub just as an experiment to see if there was any real diference in the performance, and I think there is, and for the better. Having done a river run with Paul Westinde, my flying for the day was over as it was time to get involved in serious busines preparing and helping Tony cook the evening meal. There was plenty of activity on the lake for the remainder of the day with hardly a minute with no craft in action in one form or another. At 5 o’clock the social part of the day started in earnest, but I am tipping there had been a few early starters. Pre dinner drinks>>^^>>^^>>

picture perfect site as always

At 6.30 dinner was served, and we sat down for a meal fit for a king with roast lamb, roast beef, roast pork and chicken with sides of baked potatoes, pumpkin and vegetables. Dessert was Cheesecake and fruit salad and cream. What more could you ask for. Dinner is served Pictures tell a thousand words. I am confident in concluding that every body had a great time.

The night ended up in a very jovial mood at ????? o’clock (midnight for me)

And after a solid nights sleep for the campers, we woke up to another perfect day at Point Paradise. A few cups of coffee and some breakfast soon cleared the cob webs. Other members returned including a few who had been unable to attend the Saturday event. The day was spent testing ,trying, flying and general talk about hover craft, interrupted only by lunch as Tony W had restoked the Weber and presented another great meal. Pack up time about 3 pm with most members having left by then. It was left to a few of us to clear the deck and remove the rubbish. Locked the gate at 5 and departed in the knowledge that a great weekend was had by all Some more pictures from the weekend. FCJ Thank You Dave for supplying some of the pictures

This concludes the Hover news for 2013 and we hope you have enjoyed the 2013 issues. The gun team (Tony W and me FCJ) wish you all a
