OSEA, Singapore 2-5 December 2014 OSEA2014, Asia’s largest Oil & Gas exhibition and its biggest edition ever, ended on a high note with positive feedback from both the exhibitors and visitors. The 4-day event which spans across 3 levels attracted more than 28,600 Oil & Gas trade professionals. IRO organised the Holland pavilion in cooperation with Netherlands Maritime Technology. The Holland pavilion had a perfect spot in the middle of the main exhibition hall. 35 companies were represented.

Gas Committee (GC) The GC brings the following to your attention: IRO meeting on Gas Exploration and Production opportunities in the Netherlands On 21 January 2015 the IRO Gas Committee is organising a meeting on gas exploration and production opportunities in the Netherlands. The venue of the event is Frames in Woerden. Presentations will be given by EBN, Technip and Frames. Frames will give a presentation on their gas technology test facilities in Woerden. Human Resources and Safety Committee (HRSC) The HRSC brings the following to your attention: Help us spread the word on www.werkenindewereldvanolieengas.nl IRO and NOGEPA jointly developed a website to improve the image and knowledge of the world of Oil and Gas among pupils of primary and secondary education and students of secondary and higher education. By means of teaching packages for guest lectures, which can be downloaded from the website, teachers and lecturers can give insight in the Oil and Gas as well as the Offshore sector. These teaching packages can also be used by employees of IRO-NOGEPA members to give guest lectures at schools of their children or in the vicinity of their businesses. Videos of various professions and themes of the sector as well as
links to vocational training institutes and job opportunities are available at the website. In short, an informative website to encourage young people to choose a job in the dynamic world of Oil and Gas! Spread the word! IRO Course Oil & Gas IRO has developed a course that aims at providing a clear view on the ins and outs of the upstream oil and gas industry, both onshore and offshore. This non-technical course is set up for people who work in the industry but lack the basic knowledge about it. This can either be new employees or present employees who do not require to know about oil and gas for their job, but who need to have a general understanding about how oil and gas came into being, how it is found, how it is produced, what technology is used and how the industry is organised. The course is not only useful to people who work for a company in the oil and gas industry, but also for people who provide products and services to the sector. The course is given during two consecutive days at the Keppel Verolme yard in Rotterdam. You will receive a syllabus of which the theory will be discussed during the course and which will serve as future reference book. A tour will be given at the yard to illustrate what you have learned. Furthermore, you will receive a certificate of participation. University of Leiden looking for companies to participate in DOT Mathematics Within the Faculty of Science of the University of Leiden a new initiative has been set up: the Regionaal Steunpunt Leiden (RSP). The RSP wants to become the beta-counter of Leiden and surroundings and to build bridges between secondary education and higher education in the field of beta-education. RSP is looking for companies that want to invest time in this collaboration. RSP is busy setting up so-called DOTS (Teacher Development Teams) that will create inspiring new lectures. One is particularly looking for companies that want to participate in the DOT Mathematics. On Stage Profession Parties On Stage organises Profession Parties (Beroepenfeesten) for VMBO students where employers can demonstrate their business to youngsters at a certain college. On Stage Profession Parties facilitate a new, sustainable, personal and local entrepreneurs network for VMBO students. On Stage thereby contributes to the career orientation and entrepreneurial skills of young people. Professionals help the students with their choice for a
future profession by sharing their enthusiasm for their work. Education On Stage consists since 2007 and is carried out in nine regions. On Stage has an annual range of approximately 9,000 students and about 2,000 entrepreneurs. Miscellaneous Well Control Awareness Courses - January 2015 Two 1 day well control awareness training programmes have been planned on 14 and 22 January 2015 at The Well Academy Training Centre, Canadalaan 9, Apeldoorn. This course which meets the requirements of IWCF Well Control Training Level 1 is aimed at giving those persons in supporting roles more insight into the activities associated with the lifecycle of the well from drilling through to abandonment and provide a basic awareness of well control. Learn about: how a well is drilled, what equipment is used, well intervention, how well control events occur and their consequences, what are we doing to prevent a well control incident. Included in the programme is a demonstration on a rig floor drilling simulator.
