EVENT UPDATES: DECEMBER 2015 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given,

and the government will be on his shoulders, and he will be called

Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

I still remember this Scripture being recited by us while we were children in 1st class at a school and Sunday School Christmas concert. These verses foretell the mind blowing event, the baby lying in the manger in Bethlehem really would be God, taking humble, human form, for our rescue.

OYM (One Youth Ministry – Africa) prays you and your family have a blessed Christmas season, that your hearts are truly moved by the miracle of the manger, and that you enter the New Year with joy-filled hearts.




KIBERA SLUM MISSION Dateline: November, Kibera Slum Region In late November we were privileged to provide sports training to young people in Kibera Slum. We also organized and taught a creative arts program to a private school. This was an incredible week of success and a big ask for our team as we committed to a full week of teaching, encouraging and training young people. They crowded together in a small hall with four classroom areas separated by sack cloths.

We encourage you to continue praying for this area and especially for the children of Bright Stars School in Kibera. NORTHERN KENYA MISSION Dateline: Northern Kenya – Marsabit County, 7th December We left to journey to Northern Kenya- Marsabit County for a week, leaving 13th December. While there we were engaged in a week of

training local evangelists from ACK Diocese of Marsabit. These evangelists have a calling to serve the Lord but a majority of them are not well educated. However, after training them, a majority showed interest in and a commitment to learning how to read English and Kiswahili. We trust that you will pray for them for God’s provision.

EASTERN KENYA MISSION Dateline: Eastern Kenya 14th to 16th December; ACK Diocese of Mberee. Brother Jackson was privileged to train over 800 Youth, School Chaplains and Sunday School Teachers on Vision Casting and utilizing their gifts and talents. Vision Casting is the act of reminding leaders of why they do what they do. We remind them that every task, no matter how seemingly insignificant, ties back to the vision of the church and of Christ. According to the World Bank statistics, “there are 200 million youth in Africa

that constitute 20% of the continent’s population. Out of this number, the data reveals that 60% are Reacting to this situation, the World Bank vice-president for the Africa region, Obiagel Ezekwesili, said, “finding productive employment for the 200 million Africans between 15 and 24 years is surely one of the continent’s greatest challenges.”

We feel the call stronger than ever to provide training opportunities for these young people so that the community may begin to see them gaining employment and finding relevant positions and places in society.
