President's Report (end-of-year update)

HUSTLER MOWER

Duty of care required that the TMAC install a safety cage on the Hustler Mower. The current cage had

never been completed. As of 14 December, the safety cage has now been constructed and installed on the

mower.

FREEZER

The freezer can now be relocated into the Bunker which will happen in the near future. Once this is done

we can look at the purchase and installation of a commercial drinks vending machine.

FENCING

Noel Stewart and his group of helpers will start replacing the star pickets and fencing where it has fallen

into disrepair. Any members interested in offering assistance, please contact Noel.

STORAGE ENCLOSURE

Enclosure adjacent to the western end of the canteen will commence shortly, for the storage of tables and

chairs to eliminate over-crowding in the Canteen area.

Aeroskills Flying Day

Aeroskills Aerospace

Tingalpa Model Aero Club

Flying Day

Wednesday 28 October 2015

The event at Tingalpa Model Aero Club was planned and run on Wednesday 28 October, from 7am through to

1pm. I took my year 12 Aeroskills class consisting of 20 boys and 48 aircraft for our third year running. This year

Brisbane State High and City Point Christian College were invited to join us for the day bringing 30 students each.

With 80 students attending the day it made for lots of flying by all the students.

The day’s proceedings were to complete the Aeroskills assessment for 2015. The assessment of my Aeroskills

class included the test flying of 10 new aircraft that they had just finished scratch building for their final assessment

projects. The types of aircraft were all electric and varied from Migs and Red Bull type planes to flying wings.

The student’s projects mostly flew well with a few that did not, but for their first plane they had designed

themselves from scratch all got the sense of achievement from their designed aircraft. All the other aircraft flown

by Calamvale students were also all built by the students in Aeroskills over the previous 2 years of study.

As the day proceeded I flew my 66 Pracy Racing L39 Albatross as well as other members of the club flew their

large scale aircraft as a display for the students. The students found the day very rewarding with lots achieved

throughout the day. Through the day Brisbane State High and City Point Christian College flew some of their

aircraft but required much help from my fellow club members to make them airworthy.

Finally rounding out the day we had general flying as a group, break up BBQ and presentations given for Most

Flights, Best Crash, Best Pilot, Best Limbo flying and Fastest Pilot.

Thank you to -

Tingalpa Model Aero Club for providing the canteen facilities, and BBQ for the day, Will Sipma (TMAC

President) and Randall Mowlam (Registrar) for helping me to run the event.

All the help allowed the day to be cost neutral to the students and be an awesome education event for the students

in respect of their flying abilities, socialising and further knowledge of what can be achieved with model aircraft.

The focus of Aeroskills has been to engage the students in the introduction to the principles of flight and give them

an understanding of aerospace as working environment for possible future career aspirations out in the general /

commercial aviation industry or the military forces.

TMAC Christmas Party 2015

Though the numbers were fewer than the previous year, the TMAC members and family

who attended the annual Christmas party on Saturday 28 November had a thoroughly

enjoyable, as well as active evening. As usual, Pat and Lyn Wilson ensured that the

selection, and quantity, of food provided was excellent, with many opting for second (and

further) helpings.

Pat had ensured that appetites were sharpened prior to dinner by presenting everyone with

balsa gliders, and entertainment was then provided by the many and varied attempts to

successfully fly the gliders.

The evening was deemed to be a success when the resident possum decided to join in the

fun (and food). See you next year!

In appreciation

A huge thanks to all the TMAC members who have supported the club by giving

their time to help with event days, working bees, field maintenance, and so forth. In

particular, Lyn and Pat Wilson for their continual involvement and commitment to the

successful operation of the canteen, to Ian Sheather and Will Sipma for keeping the field

mowed, to Randall Mowlam and Dave Walker for always being available to take photos,

for Brian Fooks and Adrian Hellwig for co-ordinating event days, and to all the others

who assist in the setting up, the cooking, and the many other tasks involved in making our

club and flying field a place with which we can all have a happy association.

Let's hope that 2016 brings much more involvement and enjoyment for all, and that we all

work together to help improve our facilities and events.

Have a safe and happy Christmas holiday season everyone and see you next year.

T GOES

Don't forget to be on the

lookout for snakes during

the warmer months. If you

do end up scrambling

around in the bush for

broken parts (and of course

we hope you DON'T), please

wear covered shoes and

take care where you walk.
