CvSU Vision The premier university in historic Cavite recognized for excellence in the development of globally competitive and morally upright individuals. CvSU Mission Cavite State University shall provide excellent, equitable, and relevant educational opportunities in the arts, sciences and technology through quality instruction and responsive research and development activities. It shall produce professional, skilled and morally upright individuals for global competitiveness. CvSU Administrative Council holds Management Training Strategic Planning Workshop Dr. Hernando D. Robles, delivering his opening remarks during the 1st day of the training December 2016 January 2017 Session in the afternoon started with the President, who presented the CvSU Development Agenda 2017-2022. He pointed out the ‘CvSU 2020, moving forward in one direction’, following the seven- year target, namely: 2016 – Transition; 2017 – Transformation; 2018 – Institutionalization; 2019 – Recognition; 2020 – Global University; 2021 – Sustainability; and 2022 – Research University. He posed a challenge to everyone and left with a covenant saying that, “We will affirm beginning today and in the next years to come that in achieving our vision and mission…We Will Be: FAST…AND…SERIOUS.” An audio- visual presentation on AmBisyon Natin 2040, a project of the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) was shown to showcase the ordinary Filipinos’ dreams and aspirations in the next years to come. Different inputs were also discussed by the following: Higher Education Reform Agenda - Dr. Camilo A. Polinga; ASEAN and Philippine Qualifications Framework - Dr. Adolfo C. Manuel, Jr., Director, Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center; and National Higher Education Research Agenda – Dr. Ruel M. Mojica, NCRDEC Director. The first day of the training ended with an open forum and a closing remarks from Dr. Julio G. Alava, VP, External and Business Affairs. The succeeding days of the training were conducted in Hotel Veniz, Baguio City where the four major units, namely: Academic Affairs; Research; Administrative and Support Services; and External and Business Affairs presented their plans and strategies to achieve the targets. There was active participation and critiquing of inputs which led to a very comprehensive delivery of expectations and outputs. On their way back home, the Council conducted benchmarking, aimed at knowing the best practices of some of the state universities in Region 3. First stop was at Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU), in Camiling, Tarlac. Formerly known as Tarlac College of Agriculture, TAU is certified No. 1 in Extension program and No. 2 in Research activities among SUCs in the country, according to its President, Dr. Max P. Guillermo. Next stop was at Tarlac State University (TSU) in Tarlac City, an IMS certified in three areas, namely: ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS); ISO 14001:2015 Environment Management System (EMS); and OHSAS 18001:2007 Occupational Health Safety Management System. Last stop was at Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University (DHVTSU) in Bacolor, Pampanga, considered to be the cleanest and the oldest Arts and Trade School in Asia. Armed with renewed vision and hope for the University, members of the Administrative Council converged at the International House II of the main campus for the opening program of the three-day Management Training and Strategic Planning Workshop, 24 27 January 2017. The Council, headed by Dr. Hernando D. Robles, President, was enthusiastic and optimistic during the first day of the training. In his opening remarks, the President laid down his vision for Global University 2020 anchored on his Medium Term Development Plan 2017-2022. Moreover, the morning session showcased the accomplishments and achievements of the University for the past five years which were presented by the following: Dr. Camilo A. Polinga, VP, Academic Affairs, for Higher Education Services; Dr. Ma. Agnes P. Nuestro, Dean, Graduate School and Open Learning College, for Advanced Education Services; Dr. Alejandro DC. Mojica, Sr., VP, Research, Extension, Continuing Education and Training Services, for Research Services and Technical Advisory Extension Services; and Dr. Henry O. Garcia, VP, Administrative and Support Services, for General Administration and Support Services and Support to Operations. Dr. Hosea DL Matel, Director for Research, also shared his views and opinions on the research status of the University. An open forum followed where stakeholders from the different sectors were invited and were given a chance to ask questions from the presenters. CvSU faculty join IRCBESS 2016 Faculty members from CAS, CEMDS, and satellite campuses participated in the 2016 International Research Conference on Business, Education, and Social Sciences organized by and held at Batangas State University on December 20-21, 2016. Underscoring the theme, “Responding to the Challenges of Globalization through Innovative Researches in Business, Education, and Social Sciences, the conference aimed to gather researchers and experts towards collaboration and dissemination of scholarly works. The three-day conference was graced by Dr. Patricia B. Licuanan, CHED Chairperson, who served as the keynote speaker. Plenary sessions integrating research boundaries, opportunities and challenges in the academe, strategic global marketing essentials, and ASEAN University network-quality assurance were some of the highlights of the event alongside parallel sessions. Faculty members from CvSU-CAS who presented their papers include Prof. Agnes C. Francisco, Mr. Bernard Feranil, Ms. Catherine Mojica, Ms. Armie Grace Desingaño, and Ms. Joy Babaan. Dr. Florindo Ilagan, the dean of CEMDS, and faculty members: Dr. Jenny Beb Ebo, Prof. Rowena Noceda, Mr. Zandro Catacutan, and Ms. Danikka Cubillo were oral presenters; while Ms. Mary Grace Ilagan joined in the poster presentation. To prepare the graduating students of Cavite State University for global competitiveness, the University conducted the annual pre-employment seminar at S.M. Rolle Hall, 23-26 January. Three notable speakers were invited to discuss relevant topics to the participants. Ms. Myrose Basila, Senior Labor and Employment Officer of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), tackled basic labor rights and the in demand occupations. For the second talk, Mr. Kim Chua, Managing Director, and Ms. Ann dela Cruz, Customer Support Manager, both from Jobs180.com, discussed introduction to the next generation, personality development, tips for interview, job hunting and survival strategies. Nine campuses were divided into groups and were scheduled on two sessions each day. Monday was allotted for College of Agriculture, Food, Environment and Natural Resources, College of Criminal Justice, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation and College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences while College of Education, College of Nursing, and selected courses from College of Economics, Management and Development Studies were scheduled on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Business Management students, together with students from selected courses in the College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) attended Wednesday’s session. The last day was allotted for the remaining students of CEIT, which was one of the most populated colleges in the main campus. Participants enjoyed listening to the speakers while learning the basic facts about their rights as employees and even the benefits that they will soon experience and enjoy.

Six years in a row: CvSU-CCC’s Green Horizon Group of Publication (GHGP) once again proved their triumph as they bagged their sixth title in the Cavitewide Higher Education Press Conference (CHEPC) held at St. Joseph College of Cavite, 7 January. After proving their competencies in the last five years, GHGP continues to put their tints on the line and again proclaimed as the Top performing school for six consecutive years. Fourteen delegates from the team gathered 14 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals, plus two 5th places on the said competition. Moreover, five hopefuls from the team qualified for the Luzonwide Higher Education Press Conference (LHEPC), and four more grabbed places in the Regional Higher Education Press Conference (RHEPC) at Batis Aramin Hotel and Resort, Lucban, Quezon, 11-13 January. Out of 34 participating schools, GHGP’s LHEPC qualifiers, Rhaf Mark Paramo and JayAr Fabilinia snatched 3rd and 5th places, respectively in Editorial Cartooning - English and Filipino category while Allan Daniel Serrano garnered 3rd place in Feature writing - English and 4th place in Column writing - English. Pauline Ruth Luzarraga got 4th place in Photojournalism - English category and Charlene Mae Igdalino also won 4th place in Page design and Layout. On the other hand, Paramo also got 8th place in Comic strip drawing - English, while Daniel Bayan snatched 6th place - Filipino category. Roanne Castro grabbed 7th place in Copyreading – Filipino and first timer Edmarie Janaban got 9th place in Feature writing - Filipino. “What I saw in them was the passion in writing and love for their own craft”, said Mark Razel Martinez, Editor in Chief. Meanwhile, the Luzonwide Higher Education Press Conference will take place in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, 22-24 February.

The Junior People Management Association of the Philippines-Cavite State University Chapter (JPMAP-CvSU), the academic organization of Business Management students, major in Human Resource and Development Management, held its first seminar at S.M. Rolle Hall, 17 January. With the theme, “Meeting the Challenges of ASEAN Integration: Transforming the Role of HR for Global Competitiveness”, 170 students attended the said seminar. Dr. Mary Jane D. Tepora, Director for Administration of the University and Mr. Jacobson Dalay, a part time instructor of CvSU Silang Campus, were guest speakers who updated the students with the current and national issues.Graduating students participated in the pre-employment seminar with

Nursing, 25 Midwifery and 65 Medical Technology students were recognized as they stepped onto another level in their education. The event started with an ecumenical thanksgiving followed by the actual ceremony. Dr. Jose Jurel M. Nuevo, CHED Technical Committee for Medical Technology and Regional Quality Assessment Team for Regions 3, 4 and NCR, served as the guest speaker who challenged the participants to be good in their chosen profession. Meanwhile, the Nurse’s pledge was led by Danielle Anne Mojica, the Midwife’s pledge by Louie Grace Bicol and Medical Technology’s pledge by Janielle Fajardo. On the other hand, Prof. Jocelyn Dimayuga, overall clinical coordinator, gave her closing remarks which marked the official start of a new commitment that awaits the participants.
