We understand they also provided pizzas to the County and State Police. Their act of gratitude and appreciation they showed us and other public servants was very heart-warming. Random acts of kindness and appreciation like this are contagious, and an inspiration to all of us. Our sincere thanks to Marshall the new Manager and best wishes for a prosperous new year! f SALE OF PROPERTY AT PUBLIC AUCTION At the City Council meeting this month, Council approved the sale of the two lots in front of the wastewater treatment plant at Auction with an opening bid of $ 425,000 early next year. f WINFIELD MS-4 PROGRAM The City of Winfield has been placed under a new mandate by the WV DEP to implement a stormwater maintenance program. The City has had to adopt a stormwater ordinance and will have to test our water outfalls into the Kanawha River for contaminates. Under the ordinance, the City will have to monitor what residents do that may effect the stormwater such as putting their grass clippings on the street, dumping/spills of automotive fluids or any chemical that could effect the water supply, use of fertilizers and enforce efforts to deter soil erosion. The new ordinance should be in effect after our January 2017 Council meeting. Please go to our website cityofwinfield.net to read the ordinance after the first of the year. f HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR CITY HALL City Hall will be closed December 23 and 26th in observance of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day holidays. Also, we will closed on January 2, 2017 for our New Year’s Day holiday since it falls on the weekend. f AMENDED FIREWORKS ORDINANCE Due to changes in the WV State Code, the City Council has amended our Winfield Fireworks ordinance. Consumer fireworks can be discharged from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day or corresponding holiday weekends. We are so very pleased to be able to provide such a first-class building to our citizens for their events and enjoyment.
