OUR FAVORITE
TIME OF YEAR!
It seems the month of
December is everyone's favorite
time of year... and we're no
exception! With all the fun
family holidays and the start of
the new year right around the
corner, this time of the year is
really just magical.
This month in the WDKX studios
was one of our busiest yet! Not
only were we preparing for our
own annual Christmas events,
but there were PLENTY of
events throughout the city of
Rochester to attend. Being the
community station that we are,
we HAD to be at as many as
possible!
Take a look at some of our most
memorable December
adventures!

The WDKX Jam Squad had the pleasure of being
part of this annual Christmas event,
Every December, the city of Rochester comes
together with local community organizations to
help provide Christmas gifts and winter coats to
families in the community in need.
Everyone meets at City Hall to greet the families
and pass out toys and coats and even take a free
picture with Santa Clause!
BRINGING
CHRISTMAS
DOWNTOWN
2019
In preparation for their annual
community Christmas event, the
City of Rochester hosts a month
long coat and toy drive. During
this time, Rochester residents
are encouraged to drop off new
and gently used coats and
unwrapped toys to City Hall.

ANNUAL COAT
DRIVE
We didn't stop there, though. Step Jam 2019 was jam packed with a fashion
show featuring local models, local and regional musicians and several local
fraternities and sororities also took to the Step Jam stage to get their stroll on!
STEP
JAM
2019
This year featured showstopping
performances from East Elite Empire, Wilson
Pearls, Dunwoody Dance, The Eliminators
and Our Girls Dance.
Every second Saturday of December for the
last 10 years we bring the hottest step and
dance teams to the main stage from all
across Rochester, and this year was no
different!
Kwanzaa, the annual celebration of African-
American culture, was first introduced to the
United States in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga. This
year, WDKX was pleased to be a sponsor of the
Memorial Art Gallery's Kwanzaa celebration,
Collecting and Investing in Black Art. The event
featured collections from black artists, a brief
history of African American Art, meet and greets
with the artists and panel discussions.
"Introducing Innova Girls Academy: A
proposed STEM middle school for
girls. We believe that every Rochester
girl has the potential to be an
incredible leader. Let's breakdown
the stereotypes that have
traditionally prevented women from
excelling in science, math, and
technology. Find out more about us
online at innovagirlsacademy.org!"
