FJB’s Blog Dear Parishioners, Happy 4th Sunday of Advent! This is one of those odd years when the 4th Sunday of Advent and Christmas Eve fall on the same day. It makes for a short Advent but a marathon of Masses, as we are obliged to attend both the 4th Sunday of Advent and a Christmas Eve or Christmas Day Mass. Thank you to all the staff, min-isters and volunteers who have to work so hard to prepare for both celebrations. Can you believe this is our eighth Christmas together as a parish community? Wow! It is in this celebration that we recognize that our good and loving God became man to save us. The real gift of this season is Christ. We are all keenly aware of the unsettled world we are living in today. There is so much division, conflict, violence, attacks against morality, and so forth. It can become so discouraging. However, the Christmas message is one of great Joy and Hope. It is one that truly changes our reality. We have nothing to fear if we are focused on Jesus Christ. That tiny baby born over 2,000 years ago in Bethlehem forever changed the course of human history. It was that baby that gives every human being the opportunity to choose to follow him and submit our lives completely over to him who is the Prince of Peace, King of Glory, Light of the World, etc.

As has become our custom, every family that attends one of our Christmas Masses will receive a book. This year we have chosen Joy to the World: How Christ’s Coming Changed Everything, by Scott Hahn. This is an incredible book that brings Scripture and Tradition together to help fully enter into this great reality of our faith. I really hope you enjoy reading the book as much as I have. Also in this book is a magnet that you can use to remind yourself of the great new resource for our parish, FORMED. Are you looking for good, wholesome, Catholic content on the web, but struggle to find any? Well, look no further because FORMED.org is here! SRW recently bought a sub-scription to FORMED.org for the entire Parish to use. FORMED.org has compiled the largest library of compre-hensive and inspiring Catholic content. They have everything, including movies, talks, documentaries, bible stud-ies, kids programming, and so much more. From entertainment to educational material, it is packed with trust-

worthy Catholic resources. Use code: BJTWMW as you register! Many times people tell me they struggle with the “knowledge” of their faith but because of the busyness of life do not have the time to fit in the adult faith formation we offer here at the parish. FORMED will allow you to learn more about our faith from the comfort of your own home or office and on your schedule. Enjoy! Next weekend is the Feast of the Holy Family. We will have our Second Annual Blessing of Families on December 30 after 4:00 pm Mass and December 31 after 9:00 and 11:00 am Masses. To recognize the importance and prominence of the family, we invite you to plan on staying after Mass to receive a special blessing from me. Hopefully this blessing will bring goodness to your family all year long and/or allow you to deal with the challenges that may come your way. On Sunday, January 7 at 12:30 pm we will have our annual Anniversary Epiphany Concert. The parish was founded on the feast of the Epiphany in 2010. We are now celebrating our 8th anniversary as a parish community. WOW! Kyle and our music ministry are plan-ning a very special concert to celebrate. It is a great way to end your Christmas season. Make it a great Christmas Season, and see you a lot in these weeks at Church! Peace, Fr. John

A Letter To The Students Before the new school year began, every teacher and staff member wrote a letter to the students they will be working with at Ss. Robert and William Catholic School. The letter includes the hopes and dreams each has for the students during the 2017-2018 school year. Every week, we will share one of these very special letters. This letter was written by Mr. Mark Dean. Mr. Dean is the SRW Physical Education Teacher. Dear Students, Welcome back. I hope you had a safe and enjoyable summer. I am really looking forward to this coming school year, meeting in-coming Kindergarteners and new students and catching up with students I’ve taught in the past. I wish to make this year a wonderful experience for all of you. There are new activities we will be learning together which will offer opportunities for physical and spir-itual growth. Teamwork and team building are keys to not only sports and games, but to life in general. My goal for this year is that we all grow together and learn to respect, appreciate, and accept each other along the way. God Bless Mr. Dean Physical Education Teacher
