An Iraqi Beauty Regimen

After my niece returned from her second tour in Iraq, I remarked how beautiful her

complexion looked. “What do you use on your face to keep it so smooth?” I asked.

“Nothing,” she said. “I’ve been sandblasted.”

Wanda Kaltreider, Wrightsville, Pennsylvania

Thank you to all my friends and neighbors who visited my art

show. The show was a success. Thank you all for your support.

Look for another show in the spring.

P.S. As a photographer myself, it is always fun and interesting to

see how other photographers see the world. For those who missed

Trudy’s exhibition you missed some beautiful photographic art.

Trudy is an exceptional photographer and if given the chance

again, one’s whose work is well worth seeing. B. Couch

BRIDGE ALERET – Pat Jasmann

I want to say a great big thank you to all who helped out with the

dinner. I was worried when Amy and Beano "retired" but, as usual,

volunteers stepped forward. Thanks to a great group of residents that

stepped up and helped out. I also want to thank the generous folks who

brought cooked turkeys and full meals to the clubhouse BUT did not

come to eat with us. They had family to be with, but didn't forget those

of us that are alone on the holidays. We are blessed and should all be

thankful to live in this great community.

I also want to thank Lee Brunson for writing us such a beautiful and

heartfelt blessing. A copy of this will be in the Newsletter for this week

for those who would like a copy.

I will not be here for

Christmas. I am going

back east for a white

Christmas. I sincerely

hope someone will step

up and do the

Christmas dinner. I will

be glad to help with the

logistics. If you feel you

can undertake this task

please give me a call at

Beano Vaughn and Amy Donaldson have been residents of

PLV since the beginning and at each event where volunteers

where needed were usually the first to stand and volunteer to

help out in any way they could. They have been the backbone

of our volunteers for well over thirty years. This year they have

decided to call it quits. At their young age they are finding it

harder to keep up with everything (I heard they wanted to

concentrate on the Senior Olympics but you know how rumors

are). They feel that it is time for others to step forward and

take over form them. They have put their hearts and souls into

this community and are the ones we look up to where

“Volunteering” is concerned.

I know that whatever is going on they will be poking their heads

in to see if everything is going as it should. They will never

know how much they are loved and appreciated in our

community and how much they will be missed as volunteers.

They have done their part. It’s now time for us to do our part.

God Bless you ladies!

CHAT-N’-CHEW – Dee Dee Seitz

On Saturday, November 21st, an overwhelming amount of res-

idents came with smiles and warm, and generous hearts, to en-

joy their Continental Breakfast at the clubhouse. I was amazed

when I looked around the dining room and saw that every table

was full with a spirit of fondness and friendship.

I greatly appreciate our community's effort to help in develop-

ing our Beautification Project. My personal joy is seeing all of

you gather together in a positive way. I send a warm hug and a

big thank-you to each resident who participates, and I invite

many, many more to come and enjoy.

Our next Chat n' Chew is scheduled, Saturday, December 19th,

8:00 to 9:30 am. We will offer some special holiday items, such as hot chocolate and a

Christmas punch, along with the continued request for sugar free goodies.

I wish to thank the magnificent ladies who have been helping and giving of their time. I

could not make these events successful without them. It is my hope that Chat n' Chew

continues to be a regular event.

Those residents who may have visitors for the Holidays, we warmly welcome you to join

us!

Thanksgiving Dinner Prayer PLV 2015

Gracious and Giving Lord, accept our thanks and praise for all that you have done for us. We

thank you for the splendor of the whole creation, for the beauty of this world, for the wonder of life, and for the mystery of love. We thank you for the blessing of family and friends, and for the loving care which surrounds us

on every side and for setting us at tasks which demand our best efforts, and for leading us to accomplishments which satisfy and delight us. We thank you also for those disappointments and failures that lead us to acknowledge our dependence on you alone. Look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the arrogance and hatred which

infect our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in your good time, all nations and races, sects and people may serve you in harmony. Guide your all people into the way of justice and truth, and establish among them that peace

which is the fruit of righteousness. Remove from our hearts our petty self-centeredness and self absorption that we may open our hearts to one another in the spirit of love for you and for the people within our circle of influence. Give us grace seriously to lay to heart the great dangers we are in by our unhappy divisions; take away all hatred and prejudice, and whatever else may hinder us from godly union and concord with you and those around us. Almighty God, send down upon those who hold office in this Palm Lakes Village the spirit of

wisdom, charity, and justice; that with steadfast purpose they may faithfully serve in their offices to promote the well-being of ALL people. Grant, O God, that your holy and life-giving Spirit may so move every human heart [and especially the hearts of the people of this park], that barriers which divide us may crumble, suspicions disappear, and hatreds cease; that our divisions being healed, we may live in justice and equality. You have bound us together in a common life. Help us, in the midst of our struggles for justice and truth, to confront one another without hatred or bitterness, and to work together with mutual forbearance and respect. Most merciful God, we remember before you all poor and neglected persons whom it would be

easy for us to forget: the homeless and the destitute, the old and the sick, and all who have none to care for them. Help us to heal those who are broken in body or spirit, and to turn their sorrow into joy. Gracious Father, who opens your hands and fills all living things with plenteousness: Bless the

lands and waters, and multiply the harvests of the world; let your Spirit go forth, that it may renew the face of the earth; show your loving-kindness, that our land may give of her increase; and save us from selfish use of what you have given us, that men and women everywhere may give you thanks. Bless, also, the food that has been prepared for us that it may strengthen us that we may serve you and each other, we pray. Amen
