Basketball HighlightsThe high school basketball teams played in the nEo Tournament January 19-21. The boys played Fayetteville Christian school in the fi nal game to place 2nd. The girls played Afton in the fi -nal game to emerge as 1st place. Congratulations!

The December students of the month have been selected by a vote of the faculty. The Elementary students are Whitley Goodwin and Easton Schaefer. The Middle School student is Bryndl Biggs. The High School Students are Ty Earp and Chase Herd.
ElEMEnTaryWhitley Goodwin is in the 1st grade. She is the daughter of Shawn and ashley Goodwin. Her favorite subject is writing. The thing that she enjoys the most about this subject is that it is fun. In her spare time, Whitley plays with her baby. Whitley is in gymnastics and she also plays soccer and basketball.
Easton Schaefer is in the 4th grade. Easton’s parents are Clayton and Christie Schaefer. His favorite subject is Math. He enjoys Math because it is challenging and because he is always learning something new. In his spare time, Easton enjoys reading, playing catch with his dad, and wrestling on the trampoline. Easton also plays football.

joys art because she has fun and she learns. In her spare time, Bryndl likes to play with her dog and spend time with her neighbors. Bryn-dl is involved in cheer along with softball and basketball.
HIGH SCHoolTy Earp is a Sophomore. He is the son of Scott and Shelley Earp. His favorite subject is Science. He likes it because it interesting. He says it is interesting “because we learn about evolution and growth and development of organisms.” In his spare time he likes to fish and drive around with Tristan. He is involved in FFa and football.
Chase Herd is a senior. He is the son of Jeremy and amber Herd. His favorite subject is his college hour because he does “nothing.... EVEr!” In his spare time, he likes to hangout with friends and family. He also enjoys doing “adult things... like paying bills!” His extracurricular activities include nHS and FCa. He also plays basketball and baseball.

January Students Of The Month Announced
The January students of the month have been selected by a vote of the faculty. The Elementary students are Braxton rider and addison Keith. The Middle School student is lydia armstrong. The High School Students are Hailey Haskell and aspen Wood.
ElEMEnTaryBraxton rider is in Kindergarten. His parents are Jacob and rachel rider. Braxton’s favorite subject is phonics because “we can circle words”. In his spare time, Braxton likes to watch awesome videos on his tablet. He also participates in karate and plays t-ball.
addison Keith is in the third grade. addison’s parents are Tyson and Dodie Keith. Her favorite subject is Math. She enjoys “the challenge of Math.” outside of school, addison likes to spend time with her family, sing karaoke, play basketball, jump on the trampoline, and text her friends on her iPod. She is involved in dance and she attends the living Hope Baptist Church. addison also plays basketball and softball.
MIDDlE SCHoollydia armstrong is the daugh-ter of Barry and Christina armstrong. Her favorite sub-
ject is Social Studies. She en-joys this class because “Coach Gleaves tells cheesey jokes all the time and he makes it fun.” In her spare time, lyd-ia likes to play with her dog, watch Netflix and eat. Lydia is active in basketball, soft-ball, track and cheerleading.
HIGH SCHoolHailey Haskell is a sophomore. She is the daughter of Kent and Brenda Haskell. Her favorite subject is art. When asked why art is her favorite subject, Hailey replied, “I just enjoy doing artistic stuff.” In her spare time, she likes to hang out with friends, play traveling softball, and go hunting. She is also on the Welch softball and basketball teams.
aspen Wood is a junior at WHS. She is the daughter of Wendall and Connie Wood. Her favorite subject is ag because “it deals with something I like to do.” outside of school, she likes to sleep and hang out with Trenton. Her extracurricular activities include FFa and FCa and she is on the basketball team.

5th & 6th Grade Quiz Bowlon Saturday, January 21, the 5th & 6th grade quiz bowl teams traveled to Peggs, oK for the regional Tournament. There were a total of seven teams in the bracket from Webber’s Falls, Peggs, Cleora and Welch. In the very first round, Welch Team a played Welch Team B. Welch a won 250-200. Team B went on to play Webber’s Falls in the second round and lost by one ques-tion. Team a continued to play Cleora a, and Peggs a twice to emerge as regional Champions for District a. Team a will go on to compete at the State Quiz Bowl tournament at oU on april 1. Both teams worked very hard all year and have improved a great deal. “I am very proud of both teams; they work hard and display good team-work and sportsmanship,” said coach Ms. Miller.
The 7th & 8th grade Quiz Bowl team competed in the District Tournament on January 12 at Peggs. They placed 2nd and will go on to compete at re-gionals on February 14. Members include: Stevie Brandon, Brady Chenoweth, Daniel Windle, rachel rife, Seth Schaper and Ethan Costerisan. Good luck!
