Freedom to sit at will reduces weight bearing through the lower limbs, and providing the sitting posture chosen is one that supports a neutral posture of the spine with slight lumbar lordosis, may reduce low back pain. A sit/stand stool such as the New Dynamic Standing Support Chair, offers just such an opportunity. The forward tilt of the seat pan, which increases and decreases as the sitter utilises the dynamic design of the footplate, promotes a neutral lumbar posture while encouraging movement, both of which are essential for spinal postural health. For quick note updates during examination, or prolonged surgical procedures, when used correctly this sit/stand stool provides an excellent opportunity to rest from standing while encouraging a neutral, and therefore least damaging, posture of the low back.”
