SUNDAY BIBLE STUDY – 9:45 AM STUDY OF THE BOOK OF 1, 2, & 3 JOHN
JOHN CALLS FOLLOWERS OF JESUS TO SHARE IN GOD’S OWN LIFE AND LOVE BY DEVOTING THEMSELVES TO LOVING ONE ANOTHER. WRITTEN BY JOHN, THE ELDER TO HOUSE CHURCH BELIEVERS, 1 JOHN, 2 JOHN, AND 3 JOHN ECHO THE GOSPEL OF JOHN. THEY EMPHASIZE THAT GOD IS LIGHT AND LOVE AND EVERY TRUE BELIEVER WILL DEMONSTRATE GOD’S LIGHT AND LOVE. EACH BOOK ALSO ADDRESSES DECEIVERS, TEACHERS WHO NO LONGER ACKNOWLEDGE THAT JESUS IS THE MESSIAH OR SON OF GOD BUT SPREAD FEAR AND DIVISION AMONG BELIEVERS. ALL LEGITIMATE TEACHERS WILL SHARE THE TRUTH ABOUT JESUS AND THE CROSS, LOVE OTHERS SACRIFICIALLY AND SPREAD LOVE AND LIGHT RATHER THAN FEAR. HE ALSO REMINDS BELIEVERS TO WELCOME TRUE MISSIONARIES WHO TEACH THE MESSAGE OF THE CROSS AND LOVE OTHERS. THEY SHOULD NOT WELCOME DECEIVERS OR MAKE IDOLS OF ANYTHING THAT EXALTS ITSELF IN GOD’S PLACE.
WEDNESDAY BIBLE STUDY – 6:30 PM STUDY OF THE BOOK OF 1 & 2 SAMUEL
THERE WILL BE NO WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY DURING THE ADVENT AND CHRISTMAS SEASON. THE BIBLE STUDY WILL BE CANCELLED BEGINNING NOVEMBER 20TH AND WILL RESUME JANUARY 8TH.
THURSDAY JOHN KNOX BIBLE STUDY – 10:00 AM STUDY OF THE BOOK OF MATTHEW
MATTHEW PRESENTS HIS THEME IN THE FIRST VERSE: JESUS AS THE FULFILLMENT OF PROPHECY AND OF ISRAEL’S EXPECTATION. MATTHEW’S MAIN PURPOSE IS TO PROVE TO HIS JEWISH READERS THAT JESUS IS THEIR MESSIAH. HE DOES THIS PRIMARILY BY SHOWING HOW JESUS IN HIS LIFE AND MINISTRY FULFILLED THE O T SCRIPTURES. AS A FORMER TAX COLLECTOR (ALSO CALLED “LEVI”), MATTHEW WAS QUALIFIED TO WRITE AN ACCOUNT OF JESUS LIFE AND TEACHINGS. A TAX COLLECTOR OF THAT DAY MUST KNOW GREEK, AND BE A LITERATE, WELL-ORGANIZED MAN. SOME THINK THAT MATTHEW WAS THE “RECORDER” AMONG THE DISCIPLES AND TOOK NOTES OF JESUS’ TEACHING. WE MIGHT SAY THAT WHEN MATTHEW FOLLOWED JESUS, HE LEFT EVERYTHING BEHIND-EXCEPT HIS PEN AND PAPER. ”MATTHEW NOBLY USED HIS LITERARY SKILL TO BECOME THE FIRST MAN EVER TO COMPILE AN ACCOUNT OF THE TEACHING OF JESUS.” THE GOSPEL OF MATTHEW ALSO TRIUMPHANTLY ENDS WITH JESUS COMMANDING HIS FOLLOWERS TO MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL THE NATIONS (MATTHEW 28:19-20)

For the Faithful Supporter of Peace
Many members of Peace faithfully put in an offering the Sundays they are worshiping. But there are times
when sickness or vacations interrupt giving to the Lord. Or how about the time, the envelope is inadvertently
left on the kitchen counter.
You might want to consider an alternate giving plan that has been available at Peace for over a year. It’s called
“Online Giving”. It’s an easy way to support the ministries of Peace. The benefits of online giving include being
able to give from anywhere at a time that is convenient for you, not having to write checks and being able to
set up recurring donations so you don’t miss an opportunity to give when you are away from church.
Several members are very satisfied using this method. Donations automatically are deposited to the church
and listed on a bank statement or credit card.
If you’d like to learn more, there is more information along with a form on the bulletin board counter. Mark
Harms or Pastor Rolf are also available for consult.

“I lie in the dust; revive me by Your word. I told you my plans, and
you answered. Now teach me Your decrees. Help me understand
the meaning of Your commandments, and I will meditate on Your
wonderful deeds. I weep with sorrow; encourage me by Your
word. Keep me from lying to myself; give me the priviledge of
knowing Your instructions. I have chosen to be faithful; I have
determined to live by Your regulations. I will cling to Your laws.
Lord, don’t let me be put to shame! I will pursue Your commands,
for You expand my understanding.” Psalm 119:25-32
