GOSPEL: Matthew 14:22-33 There are really two stories in today's gospel. One is about Jesus; the other, about Peter. As the gospel begins, Jesus is alone in prayer. His disciples are in a boat crossing the Sea of Galilee. In the dark of night, a storm threatens the boat. Just as the boat is about to be swamped, Jesus comes to rescue his dis-ciples. He is walking on the water! The second story tells how Peter's faith is put to the test. He thinks that he can join Jesus, walking on the stormy waters. But when Peter is out of the boat, surrounded by the menacing waves, he has second thoughts. In his fear, he begins to sink. After saving Peter, Jesus asks him why he doubted and did not trust him. 1.) When life seems tough and you are afraid, how will you turn to Christ with trust?

EVANGELIO: Mateo 14:22-33 Hay realmente dos historias en el evangelio de hoy. Una acerca de Jesús y la otra acerca de Pedro. El evangelio empieza con Jesús rezando. Sus discípulos están cruzando el mar de Galilea en un bote. En medio de la noche una tormenta zarandea el bote. Justo cuando está a punto de zozobrar, Jesús viene al rescate de sus discípulos. Después de salvar a Pedro, Jesús le pregunta por qué dudó y no confió en él. 1.) ¿Has tenido tiempo en que te has sentido "rodeado por olas amenazadoras"? ¿Qué hiciste? ¿Dónde encontraste ayuda? 2.) Cuando la vida te parece difícil y tienes miedo, ¿Cómo bus-carás a Cristo con confianza?

Divine Savior of the World:

The Hispano Americano Group invites you to the Solemn Mass

in honor of Our Divine Savior of the World Our Lord Jesus this Sunday, August 7th, at 1l:30am. After the mass a reception will follow in the cafeteria. Centennial Plan—End Parish Debt:

The Centennial Anni-versary of Church of the Epiphany is a historic opportunity to end the parish debt of $300,000 and use former debt payments to expand ministries and services for our youth, families, seniors, and the needy. To achieve this objective, the Parish Fi-nance Council asks all parishioners to please support the Centennial Plan: “Preserving our Heritage~Embracing our Future.” A brochure explaining the plan has been mailed to parishioners. Pledges can be paid in one payment or over 12-24-or 36 months. Current pledges can be ex-tended for an additional 12 or more months. Any pledge, regardless of amount, will help reduce the debt and will be appreciated! Parishioners who wish to volunteer on a telephone committee, or who have any questions can talk to members outside after Mass today OR you can call the Parish Office (415) 333-7630 and leave your name and number. Also, if you did not receive an envelope yet, please see members of the commit-tee out front for one.

Mundo: El Grupo Hispano-Americano les invita a la Solemne Misa en honor a Nuestro Divino Salvador del Mundo, nues-tro Señor Jesús, este domingo 7 de a las ll:30am. Después de la Misa pasaremos a la cafetería a una recepción.

Plan del Centenario—Eliminando la Deuda: El Aniversario del Cen-tenario de la Iglesia de la Epifanía es una magnifica oportunidad, para terminar de pagar los $300,000 que debe la iglesia, y así poder expandir los servicios de los ministerios para nuestros jóvenes, fami-lias, personas mayores y demás necesi-dades. Par lograr este objetivo el Consejo de Financiamiento esta pidiendo a todos los parroquianos que por favor ayuden a apoyar el plan del Centenario: “Preservando nuestra Herencia~ Abra-zando nuestro Futuro.” En el panfleto se explica el plan, ya se envió por correo. El compromiso se puede hacer en un solo pago o también puede ser sobre 12, 24, o 36 meses. Igualmente, se puede extender compromisos actuales 12 meses o mas. Cualquier compromiso de pago o monto total se recibirá con mucho agradecimiento y ayudará a reducir la deuda. Apreciamos su ayuda y colabora-ción.
