• The beginning of the Declaration of Independence states the society’s goals and sets a standard by which to evaluate its accomplishments following the document, and to tell the rights that they should posses.

• The writers of the Declaration of Independence wanted to start with a powerful statement about why the colonies were formed. They wrote about a truth that they believed in and that was that everyone has certain equal and unalienable rights.
