Graham Hull grew up in Essex and as a child discovered his interest in archaeology  bytreasure-hunting Victorian bottles from a rubbish dump on his aunt and uncle's farm. Hegraduated from Reading University in 1995 and spent 5 years excavating in London andsouth-east England before moving to Crusheen and setting up the contract archaeologyconsultancy TVAS (Ireland) Ltd. Over the past 12 years Graham has excavated hundreds ofsites of all periods across Ireland. Much of the work has been related to motorway and otherinfrastructure projects. In 2007 Graham began a research dig at Caherconnell cashel on theBurren. That project began from a chance conversation with the landowner and has resulted ina change in understanding about how and when ringforts and cashels were used in Gaelicarea in the middle ages.
