I. DEEN-UL-ISLAM

Opening Statement

- Indeed all praises are due to Allah, we praise Him, we

seek His help, we ask for His forgiveness, and we rely solely on Him. We seek His refuge from the evil in our souls and from our wicked deeds. Whoever Allah guides, no one can misguide. And whomever Allah misguides, no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no one worthy of worship except Allah, He is One, with no partners, and I testify that Mohammad (pbuh)1 is His Messenger and His slave.

The Deen – Islamic System

"Indeed, the (only) Deen in the sight of Allah is Islam" A'al Imran 3:19

ISLAM IS A COMPLETE WAY OF LIFE. It is based on the guidance provided by Allah (swt), who is the Creator of the Universe. It covers all aspects of life, it tells us Purpose of our creation, our place among other creatures, our Final Destiny. It shows us way to conduct ourselves publicly and privately, It shows us way to deal with social, political, moral and spiritual affairs, It teaches us economics and transactions, It teaches us governance and administration.

ISLAM INCLUDES BELIEFS AND SYSTEM OF LAWS, where Allah (swt) is the Legislator ( ), and He defined for

us laws pertaining to life on earth, and His Messengers came to us to tell us what is Halal and what is Haram, and how to interact with people, their rights and duties, morals and good manners. Thus, it include every aspect that we needed to know that Allah (swt) declared it to be perfect religion:

3:5 “This day I have perfected for you your Deen and completed My favour upon you and have approved for you Islam as Deen.”

Root of word “Islam” The word Islam comes from Arabic root which means submission and obedience:

Abraham said:

2:131 “When his Lord said to him, "Submit (i.e. be a Muslim)!" He said, "I have submitted myself (as a Muslim) to the Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists).”

1 (pbuh) is commonly used abbreviation for peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

Page 4: Deen Islamic system

3:20 “So if they argue with you, say, "I have submitted myself to Allah [in Islam], and [so have] those who follow me." And say to those who were given the Scripture and [to] the unlearned, "Have you submitted yourselves?" And if they submit [in Islam], they are rightly guided; but if they turn away – then upon you is only the [duty of] notification. And Allah is

Seeing of [His] servants.”

22:78 …Therefore, be steadfast in the religion of your father Abraham. Allah had called you "Muslims" before this and has called you (by the same name) in this (Qur'an) …

Complete Submission to Allah’s Commands TOTAL SUBMISSION: Thus, true submission means that we completely surrender to the commands of Allah, and we fully accept the guidance that He sent down via His messenger without any hesitation and resistance against it.

2:108 “O you who have believed, enter into Islam completely [whole heartedly] and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy”

SUBMITTING TO OTHER THAN ALLAH LEADS TO MISGUIDANCE: Following any guidance other than what

Allah (swt) sent will inevitably lead to misguidance . When one reject Allah‟s commands and submits to

commands of any other, for any number of given reason, he set himself to eventually fail. And that not only he fails himself, he leads other people to fail with him. This compromises of following areas:

■ Do not follow desires of yourself:

■ - 28:50 “And who is more astray than one who

follows his desire without guidance from Allah? Indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.” –

■ - 25:43

“Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire? Then would you be responsible for him?” 25:44 “Or do you think that most of them hear or reason? They are not except like livestock [animals]. Rather, they are [even] more astray in [their] way.”

■ Do not follow desires and opinion of those who do not know:

■ - 5:49 “And judge, [O Muhammad], between them by what

Allah has revealed and do not follow their vain desires..”

■ - 2:120 Say, "Indeed, the

guidance of Allah is the [only] guidance." If you were to follow their desires after what has come to you of knowledge, you would have against Allah no protector or helper

■ - “45:18 Then We put you, [O Muhammad], on an

ordained way concerning the matter [of religion]; so follow it and do not follow the inclinations of those who do not know”

Page 5: Deen Islamic system

5

■ Do not blindly follow forefathers:

■ - 2:170 And when it is said to

them, "Follow what Allah has revealed," they say, "Rather, we will follow that which we found our fathers doing." Even though their fathers understood nothing, nor were they guided?.

■ - 5:104 And

when it is said to them, "Come to what Allah has revealed and to the Messenger," they say, "Sufficient for us is that upon which we found our fathers." Even though their fathers knew nothing, nor were they guided?.

■ - 5:105 O you who have

believed, upon you is [responsibility for] yourselves. Those who have gone astray will not harm you when you have been guided. To Allah is you return all together; then He will inform you of what you used to do.

(Also, Younus 10:78, Al-Ambiya 21:53, Az-Zukhruf 43:23-25, Luqman 31:21-23, 2:166-167)

■ Do not submit to any other than Allah:

■ 6:116 “And if you obey most of those

upon the earth, they will mislead you from the way of Allah. They follow not except assumption, and they are not but falsifying.”.

■ Do not submit to any other Deen: Total Submission means that after the True Guidance of Allah (swt) has arrived then its is only befitting to this Guidance that we reject any thing that conflicts with this True Guidance:

■ - 3:83 “So is it other than the Deen of Allah

they desire, while to Him have submitted [all] those within the heavens and earth, willingly or by compulsion, and to Him they will be returned?”. Means reject any other Deen other than Allah‟s Deen.

■ - 2:256 … So whoever disbelieves in taghut and

believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it.

THERE BE NO RESISTANCE AGAINST ALLAH’S COMMANDS: Thus, once we learned that this is the true order of Allah (swt) or this is true instructions from Muhammad (pbuh), we submit to it with any resistance in our heart.

■ - 4:65 “But no, by your

Lord, they will can have no Faith, until they make you [O‟ Muhammad] judge in all disputes between them, and find in themselves no resistance against your decisions, and accept [them] will full submission.”

■ - 33:36 “It is

not for a believer, man or woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decreed a matter that they should have any option in their decisions. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he has indeed strayed into a plain error.

The word “Deen” …

Deen can be defined as a way of life, a system of beliefs, moral principles, social justice, and behaviour in every walk of life, accountability from Supreme Authority, reward and punishment based on obedience. Deen of Islam can be defined as believing in Allah as Supreme Authority, submitting to His Authority, giving him total obedience by living with code of conduct defined by Him, and inevitable accountability towards the end from Allah (swt), resulting in reward in paradise or punishment in hell fire.

■ Al-Mawdudi defines word Deen2 as following:

In Arab tongue word “Deen” was used in following ways:

■ Dominance on the part of someone in authority

■ Obedience or worship by submitting to a authority

■ Laws, rules, regulations or code imposed that are required to be observed because of above two

■ Calling to account, passing judgement, and pronounce judgement reward or punishment based on above law and authority.

■ In Quranic Terminology it‟s defined to as:

■ Sovereignty and supreme authority

■ Obedience and submission to such authority

■ The system of thought and action established through the exercise of that authority, and

■ Retribution meted out by the authority, in consideration of loyalty and obedience to it, or rebellion and transgression against

■ Deen as Comprehensive System

Mawdudi further explained the word Deen in following sense3:

“Deen” as Allah’s Authority and Obedience to Him In this sense, Deen is to accept Allah as Sovereignty and supreme authority & Obedience and submission to such authority:

■ Allah (swt) is the Supreme Authority which requires complete and unquestioning obedience and submission. All Ibadah is exclusive for Allah,

■ – 40:65 He is the Ever-Living; there is no deity except

Him, so call upon Him, [being] sincere to Him in Deen. [All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

■ Making Deen exclusive for Allah means, no one else should be given this authority

2 “Four Quranic Terms” Abu Ala Al-Mawdudi 3 Ibid. Summarized from commentary of Al-Mawdudi.

7

■ – - 39:2-3 Verily We have sent down to you (0'

Muhammad) Book, with Truth; therefore, make your Deen exclusive for Allah, and give your Ibadah to Him alone. Hark! Deen pertains exclusively to Him (and Him alone).

■ Any obedience to other than Allah should only be in conformance and obedience to the Commands of Allah and by remaining within the Limits of His defined religion.

■ – 3:83 So is it other than the religion of Allah

they desire, while to Him have submitted [all] those within the heavens and earth, willingly or by compulsion, and to Him they will be returned?

■ Thus, when son obeys father, wife obeys husband, slave obeys master or any other manifestation of obedience should be in pursuance of Allah‟s obedience and pleasure in accordance to total submission to Allah. This is then pure act of Ibadah.

■ - 39:11 Say (O Mohammad): "I have been bidden to give my 'ibadah to

Allah, making my Deen exclusive to Him, – 39:12 and bidden to be the first of His

obedient-servants."… – 39:14 Say (O' Mohammed): "It is Allah to Whom I give my

„Ibadah, making my Deen exclusive for Him; (and as for you,) give yours to whoever or whatsoever you

may wish to give it to (if you will not listen to me but wish to continue in your wrong ways)"...

- 39:17 And as for those who are careful and wise enough not

to give their „Ibadah to Taghoot, and who turn to Allah alone, there (surely) are glad tidings for them.

■ However, if such obedience requires breaking the criterion defined by Allah and they are in disobedience to Allah or his Messenger, then they amount to sin, and rebellion against Allah's Commands.

“Deen” as System & Laws, & Allah is The Legislator In this sense, Deen is the system of thought and action established through the exercise of above authority:

■ Here the word Deen has been used to mean the laws, rules or regulations, i.e. Shariah, or code of conduct, or that system of thought and action which a person subscribes to and lives by.

■ If the ultimate authority for the law or code, etc., which is followed, is God Himself, then the person concerned in observing Allah's Deen;

■ if it owes us itself to the commandments of a monarch, then he is in the monarch's Deen;

■ if it is prescribed by some priests or pundits or other religious leaders then he is observing their Deen; and

■ if it has been laid down by the family, the clan or the tribe, or the national body-politic, then he is following their Deen.

■ In other words, the basic, critical factor as to the Deen a person follows is the ultimate authority responsible for it.

■ The Daleel for this sense are many:

■ -

10:104 Say, [O Muhammad], "O people, if you are in doubt as to my Deen – then I do not worship those

Page 8: Deen Islamic system

D e e n I s l a m

Deen-ul-Islam L e a r n i n g D e e n

8

which you worship besides Allah; but I worship Allah, who causes your death. And I have been

commanded to be of the believers. – - 10:105 And [commanded], 'Direct

your face toward the Deen, inclining to truth, and never be of those who associate others with Allah;

■ – 12:40 … Legislation is not but for Allah. He has

commanded that you worship not except Him. That is the correct Deen, but most of the people do not know.

■ – 24:2 The

[unmarried] woman or [unmarried] man found guilty of sexual intercourse – lash each one of them with a hundred lashes, and do not be taken by pity for them in the Deen of Allah, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a group of the believers witness their punishment.

– 9:36 9:36 Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve [lunar] months in

the register of Allah [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred. That is the correct Deen, so do not wrong yourselves during them. And fight against the disbelievers collectively as they fight against you collectively. And know that Allah is with the righteous [who fear Him].

■ – 42:21 Or have they other deities

who have ordained for them a Deen to which Allah has not consented? But if not for the decisive word, it would have been concluded between them. And indeed, the wrongdoers will have a painful punishment.

■ – 109:6 For you is your Deen, and for me is my Deen.“

“Deen” as Accountability & Reward In this sense, Deen is retribution meted out by the authority, in consideration of loyalty and obedience to it, or rebellion and transgression against it:

■ Here the word Deen has been used to imply both the final reckoning when men shall have been raised from the dead as well as the reward or punishment which will follow.

■ – – 51:5 Indeed, what you are promised is true. 51:6 And indeed, the recompense

is to occur.

■ - 107:1 Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense? – - 107:2 For

that is the one who drives away the orphan – 107:3 And does not encourage the feeding

of the poor

■ - 82:17 And what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense? – -

82:18 Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense? – -

82:19 It is the Day when a soul will not possess for another soul [power to do] a thing; and the command, that Day, is [entirely] with Allah.

“Deen” - Comprehensive understanding

■ In this sense, Deen is a complete package – a code to life our lives with:

Page 9: Deen Islamic system

D e e n I s l a m

Deen-ul-Islam L e a r n i n g D e e n

9

■ Here word Deen stands for the complete way of life, including man's beliefs, his moral principles, and his behaviour in all walks of life

■ The right and proper way of life intended by God for man is that founded on obedience to Him and conformity to His Laws.

■ Any other way of life, based on someone else's supposed right to ultimate authority and submission to it, has not the slightest place in Allah's scheme for man and is hence as wholly unacceptable to Him.

■ And this is but natural. Man is God's creature and lives in His Domain and God is his Master and Sustainer. How then, can God be expected to consent that man may spend his life in obedience to someone else similarly His creature and dependant, and look to that someone for guidance?

■ The Daleel for this sense are many:

■ - 3:19 Indeed, the Deen in the sight of Allah is Islam

■ - 3:85 And whoever desires other than Islam as Deen – never

will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.

■ – 9:29

Fight those people who do not believe in Allah, nor in the Day of Judgement, nor do they treat as forbidden that which has been forbidden by Allah and His Prophet, and who do not make the true Deen their Deen; fight them until they decide to submit and agree to pay the 'jizya.

■ - 9:33 It is He-Allah-Who sent his Messenger with true

Guidance, and with the True Deen to make it triumph over other Deens, caring naught what annoyance this may cause to those who associate others with Him. .

■ – 8:39 And continue the fight against them until all mischief is effectively

destroyed and the only Deen holding away is Allah's Deen and none other..

Branches of Deen The understanding of Deen can be dividend in two Components or two branches of Deen:

The Core or the Principles or Tawheed

The Branches or the fiqh or the methodology (Shariah)

It is essential that we must distinguish between the Shariah Law of Islam ( ) and the Core ( ).

Page 10: Deen Islamic system

10

A Chart explaining two branches of Deen

Let us first illustrate this with the beautiful examples Allah (swt) gave of good word in following verse:

14:24 Have you not considered how Allah presents an example, [making] a good word like a good tree, whose root is firmly fixed and its branches [high] in the sky?

Though the expression literally means "Pure Word," here it stands for "Truthful Saying and Righteous Creed". According to the Qur'an, this 'Saying' and 'Creed" are the acceptance of the doctrine of Tawhid, belief in Prophethood and Revelation, and in the lift of the Hereafter, for it declares these things to be the fundamental truths4.

Hence, the good word - – which is the essence of our Tawheed can be understood with this example of

Good Tree. The core ( ) of the tree, which is its root are . These must be firmly ground for this tree to

be healthy and to give us good fruit. But if the roots are rotten then what comes out ( or branches) of it will

also be rotten.

Ali bin Abi Talhah reported that `Abdullah bin `Abbas commented that Allah's statement refers to

testifying to (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah) while, refers to the believer, and

4 Tafhim, al-Mawdudi

Branches of Deen

Principle of Deen

Islamic System -

• This is common between all Messengers who came from Adam to Mohammad pbuh, it never changed.

• As we discussed, the Message of All Prophets was to submit to Allah, rejection of Thaghoot (rebels against Allah), and abolish Shirk and Kufr (worship of any other object, human being, and institution .etc.).

• The message is simple: “There is no Illah* but Allah”, Thus1. Believe in Allah, Judgement Day, The Books, Angles,

Messengers etc 2. Submit to Allah’s Command and worship Him3. Do not associate partners to Him4. Reject All false Religion & Systems5. Reject Taghoot* and false deities6. Reject any other legislation except Allah’s legislation

• This part of the religion differs according to the nature, circumstances and needs of those whom the Message was sent to.

• Allah swt said: – we have

made for each of you (set of) laws and a path (to follow) 5:48

• Thus, the Shariah of Moses differs from Shariahof Muhammad pbuh.

• The Shariah of the newer Messenger abolishes the Shariah of previous Messenger, as the circumstances and needs changes.

• The Prophet Mohammad pbuh, was the last prophet, thus Shariah sent through him will be applicable till end of times.

The (core) of Religion is what is Tawheed and its common amongst all Prophets

The (branches) of Religion, also can be referred as Fiqh or Shariah, it may differ

according to circumstances and needs

Page 11: Deen Islamic system

D e e n I s l a m

Deen-ul-Islam L e a r n i n g D e e n

11

that indicates that is firm in the believers' heart, and with which the believer's

works are ascended to heaven.5 A strongly rooted tree is equivalent to strongly rooted Tawheed that can withhold strong winds and storms. It

will provide shade and fruits to people that surround it. While a bad word is like bad tree, as Allah (swt) said:

- 14:26 “And the example of a bad word is like a bad tree, uprooted

from the surface of the earth, not having any stability”. "Evil word" is the opposite of "Pure Word" It may be applied to everything that is unreal and wrong but here it stands for any false creed that one might adopt as a basis of one's system of life, irrespective of whether it be atheism or heresy or disbelief or shirk or idol-worship or any other "ism" that has not been brought by a Messenger. And "evil word" (false creed) has no stability because it is against the Law of nature. Therefore, everything in the universe opposes it and refutes it6. Hence, this also illustrates the importance of holding firm on core of our Deen, and building our Tree of Islam on firmly rooted Tawheed. When our Iman is strong and our understanding of Tahweed is strong, it will result in proper understanding of Branches and it will develop stronger practicing Muslims with Taqwa (fear) of Allah in

our hearts. Thus, the mankind will benefit from the fruits and (blessings) of this healthy tree.

Principle of Deen -

The Core of Islamic System (Deen) is based on understanding of Tawheed (wahdaniyat) of Allah (swt). It is a common message sent by Allah (swt) through thousands of His Messengers, and it has never changed. From Adam (as) , to Noah (as), to Abrahim (as), to Moses (as), to Jesus (as), to Mohammad ((pbuh)) --- this message remained the same --- the Message of Oneness --- the Message of Tawheed. This is considered as Principle of

Deen -

Thus, Allah (swt) explained that He send us down same guidance through all of His Prophets, i.e.

■ Submit to Allah (swt) alone

■ Denounce and reject Taghoot.

16:36 And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a Messenger (proclaiming): "Worship Allah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away from) Taghoot (all false deities, etc.)." Then of them were some whom Allah guided and of them were some upon whom the straying was justified. So travel through the land and see what was the end of those

who denied (the truth). An-Nahl 16:36

The core and the root of Deen (Islam) has always been the same amongst all Prophets, even though their Shariats

( ) were different. That‟s why the Prophet (pbuh) has said that all prophets have same Deen and they are

like brothers. Hence, they all said that there is no Illah but Allah and they submitted to Allah alone. In every era they prayed according to how Allah (swt) asked them at the time, but the Deen itself remained the same

5 Tafsir Ibn Khatir. 6 Tafheem, Al-Mawdudi.

Page 12: Deen Islamic system

D e e n I s l a m

Deen-ul-Islam L e a r n i n g D e e n

12

The difference of Shariats (between various Prophets: Moses, Jesus, Mohammad etc.) can be understood similar to

Naskh ( ) or Mansookh ( ) 7 in Islamic Shariat. For instance, at one time Muslim prayed facing towards

Baitul Muqdas in Palestine, however, it was later changed to Baitul Haram in Makkah. Similarly, Allah (swt) made Saturday for day of worship for Bani Isreal, however, changed it to Friday for Mohammad (pbuh). But the core principle of Deen remained same. Allah (swt) never asked to worship to anyone else (or submit to other laws than Allah‟s): 8

42:13 He has ordained for you of religion what He enjoined upon Noah and that which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus – to establish the religion and not be divided therein. Difficult for those who associate others with Allah is that to which you invite them. Allah chooses for Himself

whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him].

The essence of all messages (that came via various Prophets) can be summarized as9:

■ Submit to Allah as Rabb and Illah

■ Reject All Taghoot - other false deities, gods and systems.

7 Means repeal and replacement of Devine Laws. It should be noted that naskh only occurs to divine commands and prohibitions. Naskh cannot occur to statements of fact or Tahweed.

With respect to Naskh Allah (swt) replied to the doubts created by jews: - 2:106 We do not abrogate a

verse or cause it to be forgotten except that We bring forth [one] better than it or similar to it. This was in response to a doubt which the Jews tried to implant that If both the earlier Scriptures and the Qur'an were revelations from God then why that the injunctions found in the earlier Scriptures had been replaced by new ones in the Qur'an?. But Allah (swt) replied that do you not know that Allah is absolute sovereign and He has ultimate authority to abrogate previous injunctions and cause people to forget them, but He replaces them with something equally or more beneficial.. (Tafheem ul Quran)

- 16:101 And when We substitute a verse in place of a verse – and Allah is

most knowing of what He sends down – they say, "You, [O Muhammad], are but an inventor [of lies]." But most of them do not know. Naskh can be of four types: i) Naskh of Quran by Quran, ii) Naskh of Quran by Sunnah, iii) Naskh of Sunnah by Quran, iv) Nashkh of Sunnah by Sunnah. When the divine law is repealed, it was replaced by another law or not replaced at all. e.g.

Naskh without replacement: Giving charity before talking to Messenger in private: - 58:12

you who have believed, when you [wish to] privately consult the Messenger, present before your consultation a charity”, was repealed by:

- 58:13 “Have you feared to present before your consultation charities? Then when

you do not and Allah has forgiven you,”

Naskh by an easier law: – 2:183 “O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting

as it was decreed upon those before you..”. This was replaced by: - 2:187 It has been made permissible for you

the night preceding fasting to go to your wives [for sexual relations]. Naskh by a similar law: as in the case of changing direction of Qibla to Masjid ul Haram in Makkah. (Al-Baqara 2:144) --- Usool at-Tafseer Bilal Philips. 8 Summarized from Iqtida Sirat Mustaqeem – Ibn Taymiya 9 The terms: “Rabb”, “Illah”, “Taghoot”, “Deen”, “Shirk” and Fisq” are all explained later in this book.

13

■ Implement Allah‟s Deen (System) and Commands

■ Abolish Shirk, Kufr, Fisq and Zhulm.

■ The above four will purify the soul – Tazkiya Nafs

All Messengers … delivered same Message As we mentioned earlier, all Prophets brought same message of submission and obedience to Allah and rejection of anyone who rebel against Allah. All the Prophets submitted to Allah and accepted Islam as their Deen:

And We did not send any Messenger before you (O Muhammad (pbuh)) but We inspired him (saying): La ilaha illa Ana (none has the right to be worshipped but I (Allah)), so worship Me (Alone and none else)." Al-Anbiya 21:25

■ Prophet Abraham, the father of all muwahideen said: - When his Lord

said to him, "Submit (i.e. be a Muslim)!" He said, "I have submitted myself (as a Muslim) to the Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists).“ Al-Baqara 2:131

■ Abraham & Isaac said: - Our Lord! And make us

submissive unto You and of our offspring a nation submissive unto You, and show us our Manasik (all the ceremonies of pilgrimage - Hajj and Umrah, etc.), and accept our repentance. Al-Baqara 2:128

■ Queen of Sheba accepted Religion of Solomon: - She

said: "My Lord! Verily, I have wronged myself, and I submit (in Islam) together with Sulaiman (Solomon), to Allah, the Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists). An-Naml 24:44

■ Prophet Moses said: - 10:84 And Moses said, "O my

people, if you have believed in Allah, then rely upon Him, if you should be Muslims."

■ Prophet Iesa (Jesus) said:

– 3:52 Then when Iesa (Jesus) came to know of their disbelief, he said: "Who will be my helpers in

Allahs Cause?" Al-Hawarioon (the disciples) said: "We are the helpers of Allah; we believe in Allah, and bear witness that we are Muslims (i.e. we submit to Allah).

■ Prophet Iesa said: –43:64 Indeed, Allah is my Lord and your

Lord, so worship Him. This is a straight path.

■ Prophet Mohammad said:

– 3:20 So if they dispute with you (Muhammad (pbuh)) say: "I have submitted myself to Allah (in

Islam), and (so have) those who follow me." And say to those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) and to those who are illiterates (Arab pagans): "Do you (also) submit yourselves (to Allah in Islam)?" If they do, they are rightly guided;

■ – 38:65 Say, [O Muhammad], "I am only a warner, and there is not

any deity except Allah, the One, the Prevailing”.

■ Shu’ayb said: - 11:84 And to Madyan [We sent] their

brother Shu'ayb. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him…

■ Prophet Aad: – 7:65 And to the 'Aad [We sent]

their brother Hud. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. Then will you not fear Him?"

■ Prophet Saleh: - 7:73 And to the Thamud [We sent]

their brother Salih. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. There has come to you clear evidence from your Lord.

■ Prophet Yousuf:

– 12:40 You worship not besides Him except [mere] names you have

named them, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. Legislation is not but for Allah. He has commanded that you worship not except Him. That is the correct religion, but most of the people do not know.

BLESSINGS AND PEACE BE UPON ALL MESSENGERS OF ALLAH

Hence, Allah (swt) mentioned in one place:

42:13 He has appointed for you the same Way of life which He had ordained for Noah and which (O Muhammad) We have now revealed to you; and which We had already enjoined on Abraham and Moses and Jesus, stressing: "Establish this

Way and be not divided in it." The same thing to which you (O Muhammad) are calling the mushriks has set them ill at ease. Allah chooses for Himself whomever He wills, and He guides to His Way only him who turns to Him (in penitence).

16:36 And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], "Worship Allah and avoid taghoot."
