2 Deep Orient

The Deep Orient is a DP-2 class flexlay medium construction vessel, ideal for subsea construction and flexible pipelay projects.

Deep Orient

The Deep Orient has significant lifting capability with a 250 Te main crane and a large deck space for ample equipment storage while working in remote locations. Having entered service in March 2013 she will predominantly work in the Asia-Pacific market, showing Technip’s commitment to the region as a key element of the Group’s long-term growth strategy.

CapabilitiesThe vessel has the capability to work in deepwater locations and carry large payloads on the reinforced back deck.

Seakeeping characteristicsDeep Orient is fitted with two roll reduction tanks, one aft and one forward in the accommodation. The progressive filling of these tanks helps to minimise vessel motion, making her stable in a range of loaded conditions - maximising her workability and that of the crane.

Working deckThe main deck has been reinforced to accommodate up to 15 Te/m2

uniform load across the entire

1 ,900 m2 working deck area. Additionally the Deep Orient has local reinforcement around the moonpool to accommodate loads imposed from a flexlay tower such as the VLS7.

CranageThe active heave compensated/constant tension crane is state-of- the-art technology from the leading offshore crane supplier. This crane enables the vessel to lift and install project structures with pin-point accuracy, meeting today’s most stringent client requirements. The crane is rated to 3,000 m with a maximum offshore lift weight of 200 Te in air. The crane has an enhanced harbour mode to allow the lifting of 250 Te during mobilisations alongside.

ROVThe two work class ROVs are leading edge Triton XLX 150 vehicles with 150 hp and rated to 3,000 m water depth. Both vehicles are launched from a hangar via an overhead rail gantry system. The ROV umbilical winches are active heave compensated to increase the sea state workability of the systems.

Dynamic positioning systemDeep Orient is equipped with a fully redundant Kongsberg DP-2 class dynamic positioning system with up to eight independent reference systems, enabling her to maintain position during a variety of offshore activities and sea states. There are two HIPAP 500 units installed in separate trunks port and starboard, along with a taut wire and Cyscan. The vessel is also fitted with four Differential Global Positioning Systems.

Machinery/propulsionThe vessel is powered by a diesel -electric power plant consisting of 4 Wartsila generator sets of 3,840 kW each. Power is fed to two main distribution boards for use around the vessel and for propulsion; these are operated in a totally split mode during DP operations for increased redundancy. The two main electric controllable pitch azimuthing ‘Azipull’ thrusters aft produce a total of 7,000 kW power. There is a forward retractable az imuth ing th ruste r wh ich produces 1,500 kW power and two

forward transverse tunnel thrusters producing 1,500 kW each.

AccommodationThe accommodation provides state-of-the-art high standard facilities for up to 120 personnel.Onboard facilities include full medical, office, conference and internet facilities and a gym. The accommodation is fully compliant with DNV comfort class C(2) V(3) requirements for worldwide operations with respect particularly to amenity and noise standards and is also fully ISPS compliant.

HelideckA helideck and reception is provided for personnel transfers. The helideck is internationally classed to CAA standard and is suitable for helicopter operations worldwide.

Environmental ComplianceDeep Orient is fitted with the latest measures to reduce the potential impact of vessel emissions on the environment. She has a NOx reducing Selective Catalytic Reduction system, bringing emissions down to IMO Tier III levels and has DNV CLEAN DESIGN class notation which is in line with Technip’s continuing commitment to the environment.
