FEAT URES
Comprehensive remotecommunication via optionalRS232 port. Provides RS232Modem link to PC via either PSTNline or GSM network (using asuitable modem). The module canalso signal Engineers via their cellphones using the GSM SMSmessaging system to advise ofsystem alarms.
Optional RS485 ‘Modbus’ output.Using industry standardcommunication protocol allowsfull system integration into newand existing buildingmanagement and controlschemes.
Module provides a number ofcontrol and monitoring featureswith expansion capabilities tomeet with more demandingspecifications. The ideal choicewhere a remote communicationscontrol system is specified (whenused with one of the comms outputoptions above).
Power measurement is includedin the comprehensivespecification (detailed right).
Clear icon based language freedisplay provides access to fullgen-set instrumentation
‘Hid-‘til-lit’ SMD LED technology isutiised to provide at a glancediagnosis of fault conditions andoperating state.
Front panel programming of trippoints and timers, allows fieldchanges to be made to themodule settings.
Event LogThe instrumentation displays aresupplemented further by EVENTLOG VIEW, which shows the last15 shutdown events along withdate and time of shutdown.
LED indication‘Hid-‘til-lit’ icons are used to showthe presence of alarm conditionsdetected by the module.
In addition 4 uncommitted LCDsegments allow the user toconfigure the module to provideother status indications from eitherinternal states or from externaldigital inputs.
Digital InputsThe module accepts the followingdigital inputs:Emergency Stop Input - A N/C DCpositive inputFully configurable warning orshutdown inputsWith the exception of theEmergency Stop Input, these areconfigurable to be either N/C or N/Ocontacts connected to the -Ve DC.The 6 fully configurable auxiliaryinputs can be selected to beindication, warning or shutdowninputs either immediate or held offduring start up to allow for use asprotection expansion inputs.Alternatively they may beconfigured to control extra functionssuch as Lamp Test or Remote Startinput, and many others - refer toappropriate manuals for details.

The 5200 series modules havebeen designed for front panelmounting. The module is fittedinto the cut-out with the fixingclips removed. These are thenfitted from the rear. Connectionis via locking plug and socketconnectors.
DESCRIPT ION
The Model 5220 is an Automatic MainsFailure Control Module. The module isused to monitor a mains supply andautomatically start a standby generator set.The module also provides indication ofoperational status and fault conditions, automatically shutting down the genset andindicating failures by means of an LCDdisplay, and appropriate flashing LED onthe front panel.Selected timers and alarms can be alteredby the customer from the front panel.Alterations to the system are made usingthe 810 interface and a PC. This interfacealso provides real time diagnostic facilities.
It is also possible to monitor the operationof the system either locally or remotely.(Optional: Remote Communications outputversions only).
Easy pushbutton controlOperation of the module is via pushbuttoncontrols (with security locking facility)mounted on the front panel withSTOP/RESET, AUTO, MANUAL andSTART pushbutton. The first threepushbuttons feature LED ‘selected’indications. Further pushbuttons provideLCD DISPLAY SCROLL and EVENT LOGVIEW functions.
Microprocessor controlThe module features 16-Bit microprocessorcontrol and a comprehensive list of timersand pre-configured sequences. Thisallows demanding specifications to beachieved. Configurable expansion facilitiesare also provided .
MeteringThe 5220 module provides metering viathe LCD display with the followinginstrumentation displays, accessed via theLCD DISPLAY SCROLL push-buttons:

Analogue inputsProvided for Oil Pressure, EngineTemperature and Fuel Level. Theseconnect to conventional engine mountedresistive sender units (such as VDO orDatcon Type) to provide accuratemonitoring and protection facilities.Alternatively they can be configured tointerface with digital switch type inputs forLow Oil Pressure and High EngineTemperature shutdowns. Fuel levelgauge provides a low fuel level alarm, and transfer pump control logic.
Relay outputsProvided for Fuel Solenoid Output, StartOutput and three configurable outputs. The configurable relay functions can beselected from a range of differentfunctions, conditions or alarms. Therelays supply positive plant supply out.Additional output relays can be added bymeans of a 157 Relay ExpansionModule. A total of 11 outputs areavailable with full expansion of the 5220Module. This allows the module systemto be incorporated into existing telemetryor Building Management Schemes viaVolt-free contacts. Refer to appropriatemanuals for details.

T ELEMET RY
The 52xx Series PC software is MS-WindowsTM based and allows theoperator to control the module from aremote location.
The remote operator can also view theInstrumentation, Alarm and Event Logdetails, and the Relay and Input status.
Optional featuresThe 5220 module can provide the userwith full telemetry facilities via theoptional communications software. Themodule can be either connected to thePC using the 810 interface or via asuitable modem.Remote Communications output versiononly - RS232 or RS485 available.
In the event of the module detecting analarm condition, it will initiate a modemdial-out to the host PC informing theremote operator of the problem, givingidentification of the module followed byalarm event and time and date of theoccurrence.Remote Communications output versiononly.
EVENT CAPT URE
To assist in fault-finding etc., thestandard module features an EventCapture facility. This records the last 15shutdown alarms, allowing the operatorto view the recent operating history of themodule.

CONFIGURAT ION
PC based configuration software allowsfor fast, simple and secure configurationof module parameters. Utilising the P810interface to provide a safe isolated link tothe PC, changes can easily be made tothe system by authorised personnel.
Complex configurations can be savedand loaded from disk or output to aprinter for reference. Diagnostic facilitiesallow for fault finding and monitoringduring test and installation.
Alternatively, selected alarm trip pointsand timers can be adjusted from the frontpanel buttons.
